Well if it was good enough for Sherlock Holmes to be resurrected, than so can 007.

And how many versions of Spiderman origins are going to be made?

They missed a trick here as the last one should have only been available on the web

  2. You also have many of the film titles having nothing really to do with the actual book apart from character names. Then there was the Thunderball court case which meant the co-author could claim rights. The result was the final Sean Connery 007 outing that isn't part of the Eon canon of James Bond releases.

Sticking to some of the original book plots could be the way to go.

  3. Wasn't his chant Amankwaah, wo ho ho oo,

He plays out on the right....

Kevin had a talent that was exciting to watch. As others have said, the unfortunate car crash changed things.

Thank you for posting the story about his mum. Wow!

Good to know Kevin is still involved in some way re fitness.

A fellow lefty, but unusual in that he played a right handed guitar upside down without swapping the strings around.

Can think of a few who played that way, including John Butler of Diesel Park West, but it's far more unusual to learn all the chords upside down like that.

    RIP Karl.

    Didn't Jimi Hendrix do similar?

  5. Where Eagles Dare,

    The Blues Brothers (extended version),

    The Princess Bride,

    Live And Let Die,

    Some Like It Hot,

    This Is Spinal Tap,

The Jungle Book (Walt Disney's animated version).

His next agent Bruce Springsteen wouldn't tell him any information about potential transfers, "Danns is in the Dark".

Springsteen also managed a 3 year old horse in the Derby called Jason Bourne. Bruce didn't know whether to let the  horse take part. He told the jockey by telegram on the morning of the Derby. It simply said, 'Jason To Race.'

  7. Posted on other thread in General Chat.

Nooooo! It is right to use the word legend for Stan.

How true is it that when he broke his leg playing us at AG, the St John's Ambulance took him off, they then left him in the car park? Myth or fact?

Poor old Nigel, who never seemed to recover from his very brief England career....

Or did I just imagine it?

I was quite sure that NP played a Test match for England, but none of WIKI, ESPN or Wisden make any mention of it.

Is anybody able to add anything further?

Nigel Pearson? This could get very confusing.

I'm guessing said tongue in cheek...for those who don't know...

It was a time of industrial action by miners, which affected coal supplies to the power stations and, along with other contributing factors, put electricity in short supply.

Government regulations, aimed at restricting its use, demanded that all but ‘essential’ industries switched to a three-day week, while homes were regularly hit by power cuts.

Hence the 2pm kick-off time for a midweek football fixture, which normally would have been played under floodlights, and what was termed an ‘emergency issue’ of the match programme. It was priced at 7 pence and contained just 12 pages.

The warm weather kit was v neck. The long sleeved cold weather kit was round necked.

Different times back then, kits were often mismatched, old ones used, and often all slightly different.

Even the England national kit of the 70s by admiral was all over the shop. There's a documentary by Admiral that's worth watching, discusses how ' back street' kit manufacturing was back then.

    Thanks Spudski.

The Admiral doc was very good. ITV I think made it. The kit for Spain 82 was problematic. A seamstress flew out with her sewing machine to finish off the kits, the night before the game. That's why in the line-up, players badges were in different places!

Yes, our generation had them all. I used to love cricket, too much hit and giggle. I don't know half the England players or where they play their county cricket (oh ,that's right ,they don't) and no offence to your lot, but picking someone who's barely played half a dozen first class games, well ! Central contracts ruined the game for me, anyway !   Rant over .

If your rant was based on an innings, it was more of a night watchman effort! I'm sure you could do better Slarti!

  11. I thought JR was good. My background is in radio as a few on here know. His links were witty and engaging as well. I listened from 2pm until the final whistle. He knows the area and the banter after the Southampton game regarding Taylor Gardiner Haskins is what local radio is all about. A presenter from outside the area wouldn't have engaged with the caller who initially called him that and for Mark Tovey to embellish it.

Personally, I think we should be more down wiv the kids and call our ex Derby player Taylor Swift Gardiner Haskins.
