Strange to scrap Round one and two replays when the PL clubs don’t enter those rounds .
The competition has to have the same regulations in every round. It wouldn’t be acceptable to introduce ‘no replays’ in round 3 when the big boys join in.

I'm 99.99% sure it wasn't considered at all.
If PL clubs are truly concerned about fixture congestion then they could have said something against the Champions League going from 6 group games to 8.
But no. Obviously they'd like to trade a nasty FA Cup replay against a side like Port Vale for a nice little earner in UEFA competition.
If you want to be cynical - try this. To ease the financial plight of many lower league clubs the draw ‘randomly’ selects the PL clubs home to a lower league club………..

On the flip side it can be quite a revenue earner for some of the smaller clubs.
I’m sure that was taken in consideration when the ‘no replays’ was decided. Ultimately it’s a ‘swings and roundabouts’ dilemma.
Bigger clubs definitely don’t want replays with the PL and European matches plus the League and FA cup fixtures. Manning already whinges about the relentless Championship schedule and I’m sure he’ll be delighted to not having to squeeze another game.
However the chance of a lower league club drawing PL club at home remains the same but no big pay should the match be a draw.

Right decision - extra time and penalties. Overdue in my view.

Think he's now mature enough and confident enough to take that leadership role.
Rob Dickie would be my choice but if James stays he’d be another possibility.
I liked Nige’s way on deciding who the captain should be - he asked the players to vote on whom they’d like - simple but brilliant way of electing the captain.- 1

I assume he couldn't have anything to do with the Bears as he funds them down the A4.
He does but Bath don’t have football club that plays in the Championship.

The Ricoh is a soulless UFO, that's landed by the A444 and some retail parks.
I’m talking about the design Mike. The ‘D’ design is very innovative. I liked it.
Pubs nearby don’t interest me.

Should have taken the head coach role himself then.
Probably not in reality, seeing his in depth knowledge of the football industry is the major reason we have flatlined under him for 20+ years despite spending £200m.
”Trust me on Tinnion”, the ludicrous appointment of Dean Holden, FFS.
Just sell up & spend even more time In Guernsey.
I heard that a certain Mr Dyson is interested in either buying or heavily investing in Bristol City.
Probably just wild speculation and rumour tho……..

Don't get too excited but Manning will be pitting his tactical nous against the mighty Aldershot.
That game is part of the transfer deal and an opportunity to enhance players fitness

If you’ve never watched a preseason game, then you can’t say that. In fact, that makes this comment the type of wild speculation that I know you hate….
I don’t need to watch a preseason game to know Silvio
It’s human nature, common sense if you like that players will not be 100% committed in a warm up game as they are in proper, points at stake Championship game.No player wants to risk injury prior to real stuff starting
-
Pre- season matches are obviously very crucial for the preparations for the new campaign but the results are secondary to the real benefits of player fitness and the opportunity to use any new tactics and systems to evaluate their efficacy.
Subconsciously or indeed consciously players really don’t want to get injured before the real business starts and are never 100% committed and precisely why I’ve never ever watched a preseason game.

I think generally people class a good ground as somewhere with history, status and tradition (Fratton Park, Villa Park, Anfield, Ibrox etc) or an exceptional modern ground that has world class facilities (Spurs new ground for example).
What you don't want is to go from a traditional ground with character and tradition into a disappointing new ground/rebuild - (Man City, Coventry, Southampton, West Ham) that loses all character and tradition but isn't necessarily a massive upgrade.
I think we've done relatively well with the AG rebuild in balancing both, it's not perfect but given the limitations I think it's pretty good.
My views exactly PF. The one stadium that impressed me in recent years was the Ricoh. Its ‘D’ design was particularly unique - plus of course that City usually did pretty well there.
These days AG is very different since the redevelopment and all it needs now is to to enclose the Atyeo with the Dolman and Lansdown but whether that’s viable or not I have no idea. It would certainly add to the capacity tho.
-
Congratulations to Pompey. Fratton Park was the second away ground I visited in the late 60s/early 70s. My first was the County Ground when Don Rogers was playing for them.

Well he does love his Rugger...all sideways and backwards.
It wasn’t so long ago that he had a chat with Pat Lam telling him to go back to playing in the Bears way and Lam did - I don’t think that the Bears have lost since.

Just make sure you’ve blocked everyone on this forum that work for the police when you come back to tell us you’ve bought one
The advert claimed that it’s perfectly legal…………

The Mardyke in Hotwells with the Bear almost opposite are good for prematch pints. The Mardyke in particular is usually a bit cheaper and both within easy walk of AG.
The Coopers and the Rising Sun on Ashton Rd both get very busy on a matchday so probably best to avoid themMy personal choice would be the Mardyke.

The advert claims that it’s simply plugs into your tv and it gives access to all subscriptions including Sky Sports free of charge. As I said it seems too good to true and that’s why I’ve asked on here if anyone has any experience of using one.
Lots of posters know far more about the internet and tv technology than I do.

Unbelievable! You point out all the reasons why we shouldn't buy him... and then criticise me for coming to my conclusion BASED on all your reasons stated!
I believe there must be better.
Not me Galley - i don’t feel qualified to say whether City should try to keep him or not for the reason I’ve already mentioned.

I’ve always thought we’re lucky to have a song like Drink up thy Zider associated with our club. It’s a proper anthem with a huge connection to OUR part of the World.
Not many other clubs have that…including the Gas.
Absolutely spot on. Even when City are live on TV the commentators often remark about the ‘cider songs’ belting out around AG - nationally cider is associated with the West Country.
One of my other favourite Wurzels song is ‘where be the blackbird to?’ - I’d like to hear that over the tannoy more often at AG,

We only have a handful of games left and I can't see him suddenly improving that much in that time.
We only have what we see with our own eyes and IMHO.... it's a no from me.
So, with your backside fixed firmly on the fence.... which side would you jump? Keep or no?
To fully evaluate what any player brings they need to have a run of at least 10 full games. After that we’d have an idea and able to form an assessment - Twine has been injured, hardly trained and therefore not fully match fit and played half a dozen games - in all of those he didn’t play the full game and yet you feel qualified to pass judgement on a player you’ve hardly seen………….
Anyway it’s irrelevant. He won’t be at City next season.
