  2. Thanks for the update. I was planning on riding up to Stinchcombe to watch it. A great shame for everyone involved and no doubt a not inconsiderable amount lost to local traders and eateries along the route.
  3. I was there, also on my "bucket list". Astonishingly brilliant performance. Faultless in my opinion. Playing on the small centre stage was a real show stopper (and starter) and fortunately right in front of where I was sitting. I just wish I hadn't got a bit lost trying to find my car afterwards ?
  4. I think it's just a little too far away from him to be able to clear it. He could have probably own-goaled it though!
  5. I think the women's peleton can be a bit more chaotic than the men's. There is less control from the teams and some riders are always fighting for position. It can make it more exciting and unpredictable, but also, as we saw today, more prone to crashes. The risks of crosswinds didn't help either. Hopefully a calmer stage tomorrow.
  6. Several nasty tumbles. Hope they're all ok?
  7. Childishly I am delighted that Jakobsen only won a single sprint and was nowhere to seen on the Champs Elysees That'll teach LeFevre for not taking Cav! ?
  8. Scheduled for 1pm start each day.??
  9. Well I will be taking particular interest in how Pfeiffer Georgi does. Rides for DSM who took the Yellow Jersey today. She's local (Berkeley) and is a talented rider and rising star?
  10. Really sad news. I can only endorse all the tributes and kind words expressed on here. Such a friendly guy and Mr Bristol City without doubt. Will be sadly missed.
  11. Clairvoyant? ? Young Fred Wright is getting closer to his first win. Very worthy 2nd place
  12. Phenomenal ride by Pidcock. His climbing of Alpe D'Huez was outstanding, but prior to that his descending was breathtaking. I had to look away at times!
  13. Thanks, my mistake. Always used to be 22 x 9 teams (that's my excuse?)
  14. Cycling is very much a team sport, certainly in the major races. In the Tour there aren't 198 riders all racing each other ?
  15. Usually the highlight of the summer for me. But with Cav not being selected by Quickstep, I have lost a lot of interest. I was hopeful he might get the record breaking 35th win. The dominance of Pogacar, although impressive, is a negative in my view. At best most GC contenders will only be ridding for a podium place. Barring a mishap I can't see anyone getting the better of him. I will still be watching though, because you never know! ?
