  1. **** me, isn’t this bit in bold just about the biggest history rewrite known to man. Bet he’s claiming there was no holocaust and Neil Armstrong never went to the moon. gassince1957 First Team 8 hours ago Dirt Dogg, gashead1981, and 2 more like this Quote holmes said: gasandelectricity said: Easy to bash Wael for not making progress but we hardly saw progress in the 30 years leading up to him coming in now did we? Geoff Dunford did buy The Mem which has given us the security that we now enjoy. I doubt Wael's family would have come anywhere near a club renting Twerton Park. Higgs was a disaster though, two full planning consents, didn't build either and non league football. Loved Geoff Dunford but he didn't buy The Mem - he borrowed the funds, or rather the club did and that was the cause of some of the financial issues. He had no choice as the contract with the egg chasers was that if either club went under, the remaining club could buy the stadium for £2m. If Rovers hadn't come up with the £2m, the land would have been sold to housing developers and then the team would have had to return to Twerton Park with tails between legs!
  2. I think MOST of them will be in civilian jobs. I doubt that the amount of ex-academy footballers ending up in the armed forces is a very large percentage at all.
  3. Delayed I heard as GWR refused to turn the depot floodlights on for free.
  4. Ah, no worries here. The comparison falls down at, “legitimate operation”?
  5. How stupid can they be. Why would they want Joey Bellend to own the club when they have a billionaire with infinite resources, and a nice watch, in charge at the moment.
  6. Good question. I expect most people’s answers will be a bit more than a straight promotion or relegation. For instance, I voted relegation. I’m not expecting that to be any time soon as I think we have a few exciting years ahead of us. I just think that to get to the promised land is out of our reach now due to parachute payments and how that skews the playing field in favour of those with them. See Preston’s statement this week, which could have been written for us as well. The only way we could go up is to go for broke and bust FFP. We are never going to do that (and I think that’s a good thing). I really hope I’m wrong though and we do make it by doing things the right way.
  7. Not football related but I was told about the colour filters in the settings for Microsoft Windows last week. It doesn’t allow you to see the same as others but there are colour blind options that make differentiation better. For the first time ever I can actually see the “I’ve responded to your questions in red” bits. Mind blowing!
  8. Sounds like it must have been the rugby league version.
  9. I’m going for “Football clubs that have been in the league less than 10 years”
  10. Great game. We set up a league at our school and played on lunchtimes. I remember having a Manchester City team (they were on offer and this was the late eighties so no glory hunting). Also in the later packs the polystyrene packaging could be dissolved with Tipp-Ex thinners - very satisfying.
  11. 17) So massive that clubs sell out their home ends with people wanting to see the famous roverzzzz, so take away tickets off sale for fear of home fans infiltrating the away end thus preventing the legendary and famous roverzzzz from filling all corners of the ground they are visiting. ? playtowin Fans' Favourite 21 hours ago Quote dudelebowski said: Quarters said: Club saying tickets off sale now, game is all ticket and no pay on the day. Pretty ridiculous that, our away support is decent but we’ll be nowhere near selling out. Not like many will travel on the night ticketless either. Maybe Ipswich have sold out or sold out in the cheaper areas and dont want their fans buying tickets in the away end (?)
  12. The horse seems to be paying far too much attention to the gentleman’s crotch bulge!
  13. I hope that this statement "We have taken into consideration how difficult it would be for fans of both clubs to attend the match without access to the rail network” is applied for all clubs to midweek games and around Christmas.
  14. You could try, “Do you still believe the only good City fan is a dead City fan?”
  15. Jesus! Is that their training ground that is Championship ready?
  16. It’s flipped this season and we’ve been on DAB for our away games. So far anyway! I only found out when I heard their dreadful co-commentator droning on a few weeks ago.
  17. Written by the Evening Post’ “Life Writer” I note. Now I’m not sure there are many things more diametrically opposed than “life” and “Chasers”
  18. Such a shame for such a nice bloke, and great footballer. The memory that will stay with me was from when he was on loan and we played Middlesbrough in Pemberton’s first match in charge. We were clinging on to a one goal advantage and borough were peppering our goal, a goal mouth scramble with Baker led on the goal line and 2 borough players kicking 7 bells out of anything that might resemble a ball. That bravery from a loan player gave us a much needed 3 points. I hope he is able to find a career that keeps him satisfied and comfortable in the future.
  19. Mr Joey Blower ???? Moved into football management I’ve heard
