  1. I don’t think we’ll be in the playoffs under Manning or we would’ve been under Pearson. I predicted us 11th at the start of the season and I think under both managers around there would be a fair placing
  2. Think the U21 are a weird one to judge as you don’t know what team you’re going to get or what teams you’re going to face in regards to first team players. As @GrahamC mentioned a lot of the regulars are with the first team/out on loan. U18 and U16 however according to Tinnion at the fans forum had some very good results recently and there was one player (could be Meerholz but pretty sure he said 16 years old which he’s not) who had interest from the prem so immediately he trained with the first team last week
  3. Has spent a lot of time with academy teams at the top level aswell so would’ve thought it will happen
  4. A lot of clubs recruit from other clubs for youth recruitment, Scott being the obvious example but Pring was from Cheltenham. Brighton’s academy is full of players from abroad and from other clubs and that would be the same for a lot of the big 6
  5. Even Pring came from Cheltenham
  6. One of them got an assist it looks like
  7. Bit boring this has turned into another thread around our current managerial situation. For the record I think Duff is a good manager, actually thought he’d do well at Swansea because he did get very good results at Cheltenham and Barnsley. I see him doing well at this level but also the only surprise is he didn’t go earlier
  8. 100% yes, think it’s clear to a lot of people I’m behind Manning! But whoever we have in charge, Bristol City is a big part of my life and after the season behind closed doors I won’t take it for granted ever again
  9. Tbf they know their club more than we do, from the outside it looks harsh but results recently haven’t been that great. We’d have gone above them had we won yesterday
  10. I don’t think he comes here, wanted to stay up in the north east to stay with family so was going to only be Sunderland/Middlesborough tbh. Mowbray seems that bit harsher with the side he was building and the fact they got playoffs last season. They must have someone big lined up
  11. Fair point around Edwards but McKenna still took a while in League 1 to adjust to management. First full season his side were relentless and accumulated a similar points total to Cotterill did with us
  12. You might be right, I think we’ll keep a lot and just build on it as time goes on to suit the system. Guess we’ll have to wait and see! I don’t think we’ve completely cut it out but we certainly do it less and keep the ball better.
  13. Oh apologies for some reason thought the linesman flagged that one! Great chance, still stand by that we created more, had more shots, more on target and created higher quality chances aswell
  14. Obviously but the best examples are McKenna and Edwards, Edwards not managed above league 2 before last season but took Luton up to the prem and McKenna doing as well as he has in his first managerial gig. Also the manager with our highest league finish since we last finished in the playoffs? Came from League 1. Actually agree regarding Norwich but don’t with QPR, with their new manager bounce I think we’d have lost. Also Pearson has lost 3 and drawn once when he’s faced Russell Martin in the league, I think we would’ve lost by more but guess we’ll never know
  15. It was poor timing for me and harsh but we have to move on whilst thanking Nige for the foundations he’s put in place. Do think it’s harsh to emphasise on the league he comes from as anyone has to start somewhere, there are some examples of lower league managers succeeding in this league in the last couple of years (after all it’s probably what attracted the Lansdown’s to this appointment)
  16. Can’t recall that but I’d have missed more of ours aswell though as we had more shots, more on target and a higher xG. On the balance of play, we definitely had more
  17. Do you mean the one that was flagged for offside? Tanners own goal doesn’t really go down as a chance but I guess it was quite well worked in the build up
  18. But even the second half, we were poor but we were very possession heavy. Pearson sides wouldn’t be that possession heavy and would force it forward
  19. We’re better in possession than we were under Pearson, we kept trying to rush it forward but now we’re keeping and (GOD FORBID!!!) play it sideways to keep chances alive and create higher quality chances Hernandez had one shot off the post but other than that not a lot else, we had a Knight header well saved, two Conway chances and Sykes narrowly wide. Middlesbrough scoreline flattered, Vyner own goal a freak and we had many more chances with Conway and Mehmeti coming to mind Again Middlesbrough we limited well other than a mad 5 minute period, Southampton had chances but O’Leary not massively tested a hell of a strike with their right backs weaker foot was the difference Vyner freak own goal v Boro, Tanner caught on the ball v Boro, a lot of people mentioned Weimann yesterday for their first and Vyner completely got the wrong side of Idah for the winner
  20. So everyone who has a different opinion to you must be a Nigel Pearson hating robot from Bristol Sport?
  21. Yeah it’s very expensive, but that’s everywhere you go in fairness. Every sports event I’ve gone to recently prices are extortionate, not ideal
  22. I’ll list them: - We look better in possession - We’ve created better chances than the opposition in 3 of the 4 games and the only one being Southampton where they wouldn’t count Conway’s big chance when he tried to round the keeper - Beat Middlesbrough who are one of the form teams in the league - First half of Southampton was the best we’ve played for a while - Out of possession structure for the most part been very good, only things that have let us down is player mistakes We need to be more clinical and better in second halves but that’s something to work on
  23. QPR for me had the wrong manager for the players they had, I remember last season where Beale’s QPR were one of the best teams that came to Ashton Gate playing the way Cifuentes has them now. Ainsworth isn’t a bad manager but his style of football for me doesn’t suit the likes of Chair and Willock
