Because maybe bar a King I don't think we do have any average or poor players. Neither do the board hence why Pearson was sacked for so say not getting the most out of the squad.

On the face of it that suggests Manning is expected to work with what he has got. Not get rid of X amount of players and bring his own players in.

    Really?

I noticed in one of the training drills they said Weimann to play as a 10 and Cornick to play as a 9.

Maybe that's what his plan is hence Conway looking pissed off?

It did concern me in Tinnions interview when he said LM may not fancy some of our players so may look to move them on.

Why would you be concerned that a new manager would want to move on average/poor players in order to improve the team.

They didn’t like the way NP questioned things clearly. Yes person mode definitely in place already.

If you had listened to his presser, you will see that a young manager with that much drive, ambition and knowledge will never be a 'yes' man to anyone or allow anyone to divert him from the path he is on.

He was really impressive and so articulate.

He knows where he is heading and nothing is going to get in his way, and we could be on that journey with him.

    F me

    Ive heard it all now

Liam , let me introduce Bristol City’s infamous whiner from afar

I dont think we will ever agree on this one SA.......I whinge about underperforming managers and you accept them. We both find each others views hard to comprehend.

But so long as we keep it civil, and at the end of the day, we both are big City fans.

  5. Welcome Liam.

Despite being fairly critical of our managers who underperform (and there have been plenty), I will always give new ones the courtesy of giving them the time to prove themselves....and I really hope you do.

I'm afraid there are some on here that will never offer you that courtesy and will never accept you, mainly due to their adoration of the man you replaced. I suppose it's up to you to prove them wrong. Good luck!

How long will you be keeping up this pretence of being postive about the club's strategy and liking the new manager? Because we all know that you'll be dying to scream for him to be sacked as soon as he loses a couple of games.

If he's rubbish why keep him? But I'd give him till end of the season.

We don't have dead wood anymore - and we have Nigel Pearson to thank for that.

Every player in the first team squad now makes a contribution of one kind or another, on or off the pitch - we have Nigel Pearson to thank for that.

Unlike under many, too many, previous managers, we no longer have leaches taking a salary but contributing nothing, spreading bad vibes with bad attitude. All that's gone. Thanks to Nigel Pearson.

His man-management and leadership were superb.

FFS let it go - it's verging on embarrassing.

And call them dead wood or average players or players past their best, same difference really - but to include Wells, Tanner, King, OLeary, Weiman, maybe Williams and James.

If we want to progress further, we need a refresh..and not just the manager.

Which is why is feels completely believable. Pearson to Manning, **** me, about as disappointing and underwhelming as you can get.

Pearson to 'anyone' will never be any good for many on here.

Yes, I appreciate the disappointment of Pearson going, but you need to accept that he's gone and instead of dissing every new manager suggestion, try and come up with something a little bit more positive - and perhaps a name that you would like.

Liam Manning is doing a good job at Oxford, things are going well for him at the moment. Why on earth though would he walk away from at least a couple of years job security and the very real prospect of championship football next season to join our lot? Surely he, or any other manager that currently have a job would have to be mad to throw it all away and join the Lansdowns.. People within the football community would be fully aware of what’s going on at Ashton Gate.

  10. I knew nothing about Eustace before, apart from the fact that his Birmingham team totally outplayed us twice and looked like a really well drilled unit.

If you bother to read up on the bloke you may find some information which could make you think that he perhaps isn't that bad an appointment.

  11. In his defence, he highlighted that playing on the front foot, being aggressive, having pace and attacking was important and that any future head coach should concur with that.

I think most of us would agree that that is what we want and probably what managers would aspire to.

Having said that, I can't bear this 'jobs for ex players' lark.

I hope Tinns lets any new manager get on with his own agenda and keeps his nose out.

They’clearly want a ‘head coach’ rather than a manager. Someone who knows their place.

I’ve always defended Steve Lansdown. No longer. Pearson was our best manager since Alan Dicks. Just think what Nige could achieve with City if he was I. The job for fourteen years or so!

Yeh that 32% win rate over 3 years was amazing
