  1. Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere-

Just been reading on BBC news online that poor old Sven is terminally ill with cancer with a best case scenario of a year left to live. Must be terrible for him and family.

Totally agree with what you say about families going to games , let’s be fair who would take there kids/ to that dump ,

With Bristol seemingly ( I could be wrong ) growing I would of thought any genuine football fan who has moved to our area who perhaps doesnt go and watch his original team etc ( travelling work etc ) would deffo plump for Ashton gate

Any kids without any football allegiances in their family will be gravitating towards us if they want to watch games live. The gashead in work was also saying he knows a gas family and one of their kids watches City with his mates because he refused to watch the gas at their dump!

Can you imagine the reaction from some of their knuckleheads seeing our concourse facilities ?

I happened to be working with a gashead last week and he said he’d been to a gig at AG and was really impressed with the facilities. He also said he wouldn’t dream of taking his daughter to a game at the mem because of how bad the situation is with portaloos for toilets etc. Must have cost them a lot of future fans.

  4. Look at the amount of kids, women and families at games nowadays. These days the stadium and its facilities make it much more of an option for people that probably won’t have come to games years ago. It’s one of the main reasons the gas lag so far behind us with their aging fan base and portaloos

The other thing I’ve noticed is that when it’s a SCA, 3DS, whatever it’s called issue it’s a transaction failure as opposed to a declined payment. In other words, if you ring your card provider they tell you there’s no problem with your card.

Completely agree about the time taken to get it fixed though. I had the problem when trying to set up a recurring payment mandate with a company in Italy. That, I can see, might be problematic. But they got it fixed fairly quickly - and in the meantime kept me updated.

It’s been like it for years, I used to get the same problems when I had membership instead of a ST and that was at least 2 years ago

As you know Dave, this is something I know a fair amount about (my old business was one of the first ever to implement 3DS in the UK). I would say there is a good chance there is something wrong with their 3D Secure implementation in the platform our booking fees pay for (!), and your point on it relating to specific SCA trusted device/card combinations has some logic.

    • As @italian dave said (and I always experience) this error can be rectified by a MOTO purchase over the phone using the exact same card
    • As @mattjb alluded to, you can try several cards and find a card that works, suggesting it's previously used card x device combinations
    • I used this card to purchase away tickets all the time, but I have a feeling I only get this problem on City's site when using my work laptop
    • I had the exact same error in a prior season, I opened a different browser same machine and it worked (device fingerprint includes browser)

All of which points to 3D Secure failing on a specific prior card x device combination. Also instinctively the timing of the error after 4-5 seconds from payment submissions feels like the result of a convoluted failure of 3D Secure message exchanges too. What I can't understand is why these errors (have existed for at least 2 years) are not being logged and investigated. ☹️

Surely failing to get this sorted will be costing them in some lost sales , imagine if you are someone who doesn’t go very often but on a Saturday morning decide to go to game and have payment problems . Rather than wait in a queue on the phone they’d be likely to say **** it I won’t bother

👍I never have any issues with any of my cards buying anything online or anywhere else so as you say it’s got to be something in their online payment system . At least now we know we can try a different card, browser or device before resorting to the dreaded phone call!

Just had an email form the club saying 'try at 4.30'.

Hope it gets sorted for you mate, as much as I dislike the gas ,genuine fans deserve to get tickets ( and hopefully watch them get a good thrashing from Norwich!)

Sorry you won't get to the game, the bit I don't get is that the ticket selling policy decision to outsource was Rovers' decision, yes? Why not have an in house system? It is in Rovers power to change that if it isn't working?

Given their track record you think that an in house system would be better?!

    Great, thanks.

I think by now I think i know how to get to Ashton Gate or what to do with particular error messages.

Was in the club shop looking for something for my grandson. Didn't have anything i wanted.

What is it about this ****ing football cub?

Yep poor organisation but if you think that is bad take yourself over to gaschat and have a look, the gas are making Bristol sport look like a slick and well organised!

From my Rover's ST colleague at work.

None of his lot have got tickets and they've been STs since the Tote End days:-

"It’s a cockup by the club!
Apparently, only season ticket seats were reserved and ‘someone’ hit the wrong button allowing general sale.
This was after us season ticket holders were told we had until 7pm tomorrow to purchase our ‘reserved’ tickets.
    No I haven’t got a ticket 🤬"

    Couldn't make this stuff up.....

Whenever you think things like ticketing are a bit of a shambles at City they just have to outdo us!

Have been trying to ring re an issue all day using 0117 963 0600. No queue, never got anything other than Line Busy.

    Is there any alternative number?

You’d think on a day like today when you’ve only got 24hrs to buy your ST seats for a cup game that they’d have several help lines open to sort problems. That would be far too organised for Bristol sport though

Just out of interest, did the two cards come from different providers - Visa, Mastercard?

The new two stage authentication (the code number sent to your phone) seems to cause these problems sometimes, and I’m told Visa and Mastercard use different ways of operating it, so that sometimes one works but not the other.

Would also explain why Jerry could take it over the phone: it doesn’t operate for over the phone payments.

And, possibly, why a different person’s works too. Different algorithms was to whether to ask for authentication.

Both mine were Visa and pretty sure the missus card was visa as well . Like you said I’ve had to phone up before now and card works when done over the phone.
Anyway , jolly decent of the other half to buy my tickets I say!

Tried 2 cards but none worked. Messaged Jerry (legend) on Twitter who rang me back and took a phone payment with same card, worked.

Pity the systems we pay a £1.50 booking fee for don't actually work. Perhaps Jerry should be getting all the £1.50's (and would deserve it!)

Nice one, good that you got it sorted 👍

I had the identical situation (except I didn't get charged the £1.25 fee!)

The email said the 65+ seats would be £15 but they've charged us the Adult £20 price. And I didn't miss an option to confirm my age because the printed ticket says 65+ and £20.

Cock up. I've submitted something in the SLO Q&A section.

They are charging OAPs an extra fiver to cover all the people that didn’t pay the £1.25 fee like me , cheers mucker 👍
