  1. Being a football fan is a bit like playing a great computer game . Most will keep going with it to try to get to that next level and some actually manage to complete the game ……. But then what ? Not so sure about Leicester but Man City fans are now at the completed computer game stage . Only have to hear the polite applause at the Etihad today when they scored against Forest . Personally I think “trying” is far more fun than being the absolute best of the best !!

From Nige in BBCRB…that’s what I was referring to above, now quoted below.

Can’t believe we’ll have 3 out at the same time with ACL injuries ! Never even heard of an ACL until Gazza “pioneered “the injury and now it seems to be happening in droves !

What a week ! new away kit launched then CEO goes and poor Nige on crutches. I’m sure somebody can make a conspiracy theory out of that. Any takers

Perhaps he put Nige on crutches after Nige had a right pop at him that they didn’t stock an away shirt in his size ??  Phil said he knew nothing about it so Nige called him a f@@@@@g Ostrich and Phil decked him !! Far more likely than the BS that we’ll be told I expect !

I don’t think Nige is happy to part ways at the end of the season.  I think he feels he is in the cusp of doing well here.  That’s why he isn’t going mental in pressers imho.

I genuinely hope you’re right but after nearly 50 years of watching City I’m feeling a very familiar and unpleasant vibe right now . If Pearson feels he’s on the cusp of something good , why are we not falling over ourselves to tie him to a longer contract and if we have tried , why has he not signed it ?

I don't see us going down so long as we keep NP.

Injuries and lack of depth are a concern though.

Sadly NP will take us down in my opinion . His contract is up at the end and there’s been no mention of any extension. It would appear all parties might be happy to part ways come May with no funds being given to a departing coach . That has relegation written all over it sadly and that’s no reflection on Pearson .

    Burnley 3 promotions

Leicester and Southampton, Leeds went to League 1 and sat there for years we were ahead of those team’s financially for years they were loaning players of us in the case of Leeds ! Sounds ridiculous when you consider Leicester have won the Premiership Fa Cup and been in a Champions League quarterfinal but it is a fact we were ahead of them for a period but just stood still ?‍♂️

Its a pattern going back to selling Scott Murray and selling Leroy Lita one good season we sell our best players we make it easy!

Are you telling me the clubs I have mentioned didn’t have players capable of playing in the Premier League that they kept around and resisted cashing in ?

You don’t sell players at the first opportunity when they show signs they can take us up , you are all blind!

If you are a serious club and you unearth a talent like Scott you push the boat out triple his wages and give him a sell out clause in January it’s a risk ! We have been fooled year on year made to think we can’t attract top players because we are too far south meanwhile Hull City can be promoted more than once and remain as competitive as we have ever been ?‍♂️? we are losers as a fan base aswell as a club!
Keep talented players who have a good season, pay the wages of top players when the manager and talented players are in place!

We touted Scott for sale for the past 12 months and treated him like a cash cow rather than the key to getting up . The club has zero ambition which is why we now have NINE former players all playing in the Prem now . I can’t think of a single Championship club that has ever sold as many players to the Prem as us . We’re an embarrassment to the Sport and the Lansdowns have totally forgotten that this is what it is !!!! I’ve always supported Lansdown when others have questioned his actions but to have almost an entire team leave us for the Prem is shameful and scandalous . He needs to find a buyer pronto and retire I’m afraid because he has lost site of the fact that this is a SPORT !!!

It’s simple Luton have been to the conference and back and beat us to promotion (making 2 play offs), Brentford League 2 and then 3 championship play off seasons (2 finals) Cardiff have been promoted twice QPR twice, Blackpool have been to the Prem another play off final I could go on and on the continuous sale of our top talents is insane year on year and we just accept it as if it’s the normal ?‍♂️So glad Pearson has acknowledged what I have said in my previous posts ! The sale of Scott was totally unnecessary and destroyed our chances this season

Have to admit to feeling like a total mug spunking £600 on a season ticket when it’s abundantly clear the Lansdowns no longer wish to play at being a Championship club , let alone a Prem team . We have stayed up for the last 3 years due to a fast start but this year I can’t see where the next goal will come from , let alone a win ! Relegation written all over this rag tag squad sadly ?

Surprised it is the first time you feel the club is being mismanaged from the top. It is a common thread that runs through Lansdown reign. Poor decisions, many poor managers and never backing the team when they really need it. Unfortunately I think the logical conclusion to this will be relegation this season.

Yep , which is I believe , the plan . Give NP sod all , let him leave at the end of the season and appoint a new manager such as Flemming in league 1 . I feel like such a mug right now for renewing my season ticket .

Perhaps I’ve got this wrong but the message I’m reading isn’t the fee paid but that we are on 99% or whatever of wage budget and the two items seem to be completely separate for whatever reason?

I’m sorry but our wage budget appears to be laughable . We have a squad of just 22 pros , 17 of which are outfield players and five of which are aged 17-21 from the academy . Either two or three are earning about £5m a year or our wage budget is a joke bearing zero relation to turnover ! For the first time now I’m seriously feeling our club is being utterly mismanaged from the top and deeply regret renewing my season ticket right now . Haven’t felt this peed off since since we went bust in 82

  10. We have a well earned reputation in football as a perennial under achiever. Always happy with mid table mediocrity and flitting between league 1 and the Chanpionship . Won bugger all and try to win bugger all . It’s time for a change without a doubt and it’ll be complicated and drawn out I’m sure but our board are utterly anonymous. Steve Lansdown disappeared a couple of years ago and it seems his Son has now done likewise . Zero communication just as a few years ago when most of us had no idea Keith Dawe was Chairman and even less idea who he was ! Our board is stagnant and it has lead to a stagnant squad too .

Does anyone think we could possibly be holding on to funds for our next manager? Part of me thinks we’ll stick with Nige this season, he’ll keep us up and try to improve the current players, then when his contract ends at the end of the season we go our separate ways and give the next guy the tools he’ll need rather than let Nige have the money now when the plan is to not renew his contract? Can’t help but feel he knows he won’t be here next season and the club are preparing for life without him now and trust him to see us through this season so we can hand the club to someone else and they can bring in players they want with a bit more of a transfer kitty? Maybe a mutual agreement has been made and we’re currently keeping an eye out for the next manager over the course of the season. Just a theory of course but I do genuinely believe this is Pearson’s last season with us. So isn’t crazy to think the clubs decided to write this season off and go again with a fresh face in the summer.

Where were you when I renewed my season ticket ? Sadly your theory makes a lot of sense . 3 seasons is practically a record in the Championship and with no talk of a new contract for Pearson it’s looking more likely that this is his last season ! In which case allowing an outgoing manager the keys to the safe would seem totally illogical !

Not writing it off but something feels unnervingly stagnant with the club at the moment.

I totally agree with the feeling of stagnation but when the powers that be rake in approx £40m in transfer fees over the past 14 months  and only invest peanuts back in to the squad ( rightly or wrongly) there wouldn’t be much that even Pep could do to improve it and that’s why it’s stagnant . We’re stuck in a Groundhog Day cycle of aim to stay put at this level, sell your best young players to fund the stadium etc then sign league 1 or 2 players hoping they’ll keep us up ! Only new ownership can stop that cycle unfortunately.

Typical bristol city, won one, drawn one, lost one against mid table opponents, we all knew scott was going, where is the plan to replace him. As soon as conway got injured clearly there was a huge problem… did any one really expect any better?

We’ve been parading Scott in the club shop window with a bloody great “ For sale” sign round his neck for almost 12 months . It beggars belief that we seem to have had no plan to strengthen the squad with any investment worth the name .

This beginning to look like an LJ team. Players thinking that they are earning their wage by being safe and playing it sideways.

The more I watch Sam Bell the more he looks like an under 14 trying to play men’s football. Lightweight, getting knocked off the ball and can’t kick the ball hard enough to deliver a cross.

Think we’re in for a frustrating season again.

Totally agree regarding Bell . Looked like a child playing against men , not a 21 year old ! Vyner’s passing today was an embarrassment. Williams’ passing was not much better and Pring just can’t or won’t get up and back ! Cornick couldn’t cross his fingers today but let’s face it , a winger he ain’t ! Haven’t felt so pissed off and deflated in a long time ?

They’re very well run, interestingly like Brentford & Leicester their owner has a club in Europe too, where they can loan players for development & potentially get around work permit issues.

Can’t keep up, but has SL ever used them as an example of who we should be like? I remember when it was Reading (but maybe not now), Swansea, Bournemouth, Brentford & now apparently Luton, so surely he must have said them as well, for all the good it does..

But we have a feeder club in Europe too ! Guernsey !!!!! ( Well ….. nearly in Europe anyway )
