A few positives to take on a tricky afternoon for us:

-£20+ million, 25 achievable according to some journos, secures the club for years. Many clubs can only dream of that kind of influx.

-The 4 players we have brought in, and previous windows, show Tinns and the team don’t miss very often. They have money now.

-Jason Knight needs one more goal this season to better Scott’s total last season and it’s August 9th. It’s the current pecking order, B’mouth took our Starboy but our status as a Championship club meant we could take Derby’s.

-In very recent memory, our academy has given us Scott, Semenyo, Bell, Conway, Kelly, and Benarous. Araoye, Yeboah, Palmer-Houlden, Kinght-Lebel and Francois are loading, and who knows who’s after them. Scott was generational, but the way our academy is going, we’ll have more stars coming soon.

    Chins up. Big season ahead.

Totally agree but with TC now out until November it’s imperative that we bring in a striker . We now run the risk however of being rinsed by another club if we buy though so I honestly believe that now is the perfect storm of circumstances where we should break our no loans rule !! ( Presuming Nige can’t pursuade his Bessie mate Jamie Vardy to join us as a player coach of course ! …….. I can dream ?

  2. So that’s 3 of our players signed by Bournemouth now . Kelly , Semenyo and now Scott . Kelly as I recall badly aggravated an old injury soon after arriving and was out for months . Semenyo’s shin splints have flared up again and will be out for some time and Scott has just been signed with a knee injury more significant than first thought . That’s approximately £50m we’ve had from Bournemouth for 3 injured players !! Bournemouth fans must be holding their breath a bit !!

I think it precisely because of the (potentially) demonisation of Rolls that posters have turned the spotlight onto Rennie. We can look at injury types and come to crude conclusions, but really it's probably just a case of sustained bad luck over a period of years going back to LJ's reign.

Having read this thread I wouldn't characterise many posts about Rennie as a panic or a witch hunt, but as you say, this is OTIB and people prefer to a dispute to debate! Fun fun fun.

For the first game of the season I don't like the idea of a player being given injections to mask an injury. If Weimann and Conway were carrying something, just rest them and bring them in for the cup game tonight ?‍♂️

Totally agree . Why play a 32 year old who needed an injection to play in game 1 .?  If it didn’t work out and he made the injury worse his future absence was far more likely to be weeks rather than 1 or 2 games . Not panicking but so many of the choices regarding the chosen squad last Saturday looked iffy to say the least .

  4. Bottom line yesterday was that we were bullied by a huge , physically strong team ( but not dirty) who looked extremely competent but lacked ambition to go forward at times . We were never going to compete with them physically so opting for Cornick as our biggest forward was a waste of time . Should have played one up top and packed the midfield to give us width and more chance to get in behind them . Wrong tactics from the off in hindsight  sadly .

  5. Preston were on the whole excellent today but only tried to win the game when 1-0 down . Biggest 11 I’ve ever seen and could all play a bit but seemed to be reluctant to press their clear superiority in the first half . For our part we were never gonna get anywhere today without getting our wide men in behind them which we just didn’t do enough unfortunately. Dickie looks an absolute gem though !

  6. Apparently he resigned and wasn’t sacked . I’m wondering if he made up his mind after the abuse he and his family received after their first leg hammering at Peterborough? May have thought “I ain’t putting up with this but but will see it out and stick two fingers up if by some miracle we win “

Now here's an old bloke question for you young 'uns.  Not been a ST holder for a few years but now back in the UK, I have to go for it.

Is the ST a physical thing that I keep in my ar5e pocket OR is it an app thingie on a mobile phone that I have to wave at a laser scanner?  Dumb question, I know......but it's an age thing!  Any thoughts welcome just in case I need to go on a mobile phone training course.  Thanks in advance.

    VAMOS, ROJOS

It’s an app on the phone but you can request a season card if you wish . Just have to elect which type you want when you buy on line

Jesus, how hyped up were those commentators and pundits and what was all that bollocks before hand?

Turn the sound systems down, let the fans sing and let the players play.

Must admit I couldn’t quite understand the    ridiculous praise given to Edison for his match winning miracle save ! ( Not the one that actually was a match winning miracle save . It was the one that bounced up off his knee that he knew xxxx all about !!)

  9. I think the reason may partly be that the Championship has become the new top flight for most fans . The standard is very good and it’s competitive. Unlike the utterly predictable Premier league where you could with a large degree of accuracy pick the top 10 and bottom 3 every year before a ball is kicked . It’s fantasy land really with only a tiny handful of clubs genuinely expecting to win anything and the other 90% hanging on for dear life . Where’s the fun in that ? Then ……….. you have the Championship and that’s why it’s proving so popular !

I nearly switched off before kick off . WTF has happened to football ?  The , frankly , over the top staged performance and pyrotechnics add nothing to the game. It’s becoming like the Super Bowl.
The match was rubbish with only Rodri’s inch perfect shot to light up up a dull  spectacle of powder puff cheating tarts rolling around on the ground as if they’d been in the ring with Hulk Hogan.
I hoped to see the amazing skills of Grealish, Haaland, Rodri etc but only Ederson, Silva,Ake and Stone stood out.
A big disappointment as a match but a great day for money.

100% agree . Over hyped and totally commercial with the actual game itself being almost secondary . Man City have won the treble and I’m sure Man City fans will be pretty chuffed for a few days until their joy is eroded by the fact that they totally expected to win it anyway . Personally I watch football for the joy and disbelief that Hammers fans experienced last week . Not the box ticking excercise completed by Man City fans yesterday !

I really don't dislike Manchester City at all, the two ties we have had against them their players and fans have been nothing but respectful, and their Manager is an absolute gentleman.

And that’s fine to have that view but those charges have not come out of nowhere . No club in existence has had the number of charges for Financial breaches /corruption/ cheating  whatever description we choose the use , levelled at them and I struggle to get past that ! The two clubs have played the biggest possible part in converting top flight football into a corporate empire first and sport second doing all that they can with their wealth to monopolise the football pyramid.

  12. Possibly my strangest ever Cup final ! First time I can ever recall both finalists being so universally disliked amongst the wider football “family” as these two clubs . One side awaiting the outcome of more charges than any other side in history and the other widely blamed for the demise of the trophy for which they’re competing today ! On balance I think I’d settle for Stop Oil protestors getting it called off ?

I’m banking on us getting there in nine years time when I hit 65 as I might be able to afford a Prem season ticket if I can get OAP prices ?

And this is the sort of attitude/mindset that is the exact reason we have underachieved for so many years. Far too many un ambitious numpties that follow this club.

No no, he does have a point . Notts County finished 3rd in the top flight in 1900 now look at em !

  15. Really mixed feelings towards todays Championship final . Both sets of fans have been through a mincer in recent years and I’ll be happy for either ! Can’t help but feel totally perplexed however at how these two have got where they have without a pot to p@@s in yet we’ve never got there ! Surely by the law of averages we’ll get there one day ? Will be one of only 4 Championship clubs next season never to have played in the Prem !

For the first time in a long time I can see all 3 relegated sides struggle in the championship next season.

I actually agree . Leeds squad looks like an average Championship squad , Leicester is an aging squad and will need a big turn over but Southampton will surely lose Ward -Prowse who has been their heartbeat for five seasons plus now . The sides coming up will be decent too so it’ll be an interesting season I think !

  17. First time watching a whole Leeds game this season . Jesus they were , absolute dross! No lack of effort but barely a Prem quality player in their squad . Like many struggling sides their confidence looked shot to pieces .

Probably not a popular opinion but part of me would like to see Millwall get promoted.

The Premier League wouldn’t know what’s hit them. Metaphorically and literally!

Just had a second goal ruled out for offside with the latest flag ever seen . Blackburns CB already retrieved the ball out of the net before the flag went up ?? With no VAR how can the Lino go from flag down for a full 5 seconds after a goal to suddenly waving it in the air ?
