  1. Although isn’t that kind of irrelevant as they’d still need funding and currently have no real assets with their better players out of contract in the summer
  2. I’ve heard a few times no other administrator would touch it, because of Mel Morris? Or some other reason which might not be their fault? Although i did find it odd that there was no real effort to sell any players like others have done
  3. It’s a mixture of second season syndrome and having a number of championship standard players who’ve over performed for a sustained period. Was inevitable
  4. I get where you’re coming from but it’s probably unfair to just blame the players. From some simple research it appears anyone of any value was sold off and sometimes for less than they were worth and not replaced. So perhaps falling through the leagues was inevitable and remember while we were the first Wolves also suffered three consecutive relegations no long after However what’s always amazed me is how those running the club seemed to escape scrutiny. It appears there was a lot of taking more money out of the club than was being put in as well as a lot of incompetence. Maybe it was a different era but whereas Risdale at Leeds was crucified although has somehow remained in football those allegedly managing the club just seemed to disappear into the background
  5. Just a thought though, with all the Ashton Gate Eight stuff planned tomorrow maybe there’s pressure on not to call the game off
  6. Surely it depends on how much damage there is and whether having 12 hours to repair it is realistic
  7. Guess that explains why that part of the story gets glossed over It is interesting how it’s different now but guess there’s now more knowledge about how to look after yourself these days
  8. Reading all these articles of the Ashton Gate eight one question keeps coming to mind. Why did the likes of Geoff Merrick never play professional football again given he was only 30 and had previously turned down the likes of arsenal?
  9. It would be interesting to know exactly how much naming rights would be worth to allow an informed decision
  10. You could argue behaviour breeds behaviour. On visiting our place both Swansea and Cardiff supporters were given the freedom of Bristol to do what they liked whereas when we’ve visited Wales we’ve been kettled either before or after the game and this has magnified the behaviour of some of our less savoury fans. As for the police escort, they might as well have put a big arrow on top of the bus saying Bristol City supporters here. And after the game they had a whole two single decker buses that were absolutely rammed so was a complete shambles
  11. It’s funny, i remember both Swansea and Cardiff fans being given the freedom of Bristol when at our place and yet welsh police are preventing those who travelled by train to leave the front of the station. And it’s raining
  12. I’ve just boarded the 0834 from Paddington to Swansea the 0954 from Bristol Parkway. Train this morning is short formed and formed of 5 carriages (3 and a half standard class) so will be a little cosy heading to Swansea
  13. It’s not really a smoking gun but does make for uncomfortable listening. Kinda get the impression F1 and it’s more prominent commentators have put the whole situation in the too difficult to deal with pile and thought if they kept quiet it would all go away and yet it hasn’t In the meantime the new cars look cool but Abu Dhabi and the sports credibility lurk just beneath the surface
  14. Alex Neil said to be the new Sunderland Manager. Sounds a decent appointment in fairness
  15. Seems to have been missed by most on here, Liam Walsh was making his debut for Hull on loan Doesn’t seem to have worked out for him at Swansea either. Maybe there’s a pattern developing
  16. I agree with you that the story has been romanticised but that’s not the same as being woke. Obviously the romantic notion of players ripping up their contracts to save the club is an easier sale than underperforming overpaid (fault of the board not the players) players took a relative pittance rather than being left with nothing The romanticised narrative isn’t a recent addition it’s just been multiplied this year due to a significant anniversary
  17. When you consider since 1966 Germany and even the US will have hosted it twice maybe we have to accept it’s not going to happen. I know some will blame what happens at the final of the euros but if that was the case they wouldn’t trust us with euro 2028
  18. I see Wolves also reformed in 1982 so imagine the two of us left a sour taste in the mouth
  19. He’d probably benefit from being taken out of the firing line a little bit as at the moment every mistake he makes is being punished and that then becomes a confidence issue. Let him get some confidence back away from being crucified for every mistake
  20. For some reason Liverpool Arsenal 1989 came to mind but neither scorer played for us
  21. Didn’t Danny Wilson score for Luton in a league cup final?
