  1. Is that what is taught at the HPC ?
  2. Sad, but when I was a young lad I wrote out all the teams names on pieces of paper put all 92 into a hat drew them out and rolled 2 dice to decide each tie and went from there all the way to an imaginary FA Cup Final. Wonder what kids get up to behind their bedroom doors these days ?
  3. Couldn't compete with Dean Smith who has also been spoken to by Norwich.
  4. Tin hat time (and I am no fan) but statistically LJ is amongst our top 5 managers of all time, possibly top 3, bearing in mind all his games were in the 2nd tier of English football. His win rate puts him comfortably in the top 6. His final league positions would put him in 3rd or 4th. Bristol City - Clubs - Manager Stats
  5. No thanks. 3pm works just fine for me. Get home circa 7pm just as her indoors is settling down for Strictly. 2 hours peace and quiet (to read all the OTIB posts) before its my turn with Quest at 9pm followed by MOTD .
  6. Rest up, take your time and get well soon. Your health is the most important thing so lets hope you're soon up and about ,covering a few miles on the 'Moor again in the very near future.
  7. Linked with Watford according to Ostrich.
  8. If you read the post properly you would see that I was responding to the last line of Galley is our king's post not stating something that I believe in. Totally agree that everyone on the planet should make an effort (and I seem to be the only local dog walker that leaves the beach having collected several plastic / glass bottles to take home and recycle) but if the huge nations don't bother then what we do, as a small nation, is a total waste of time imo.
  9. Exactly, as if our tiny island will make a big difference in the larger scheme of things.
  10. This exactly, even a tenner would induce people to use public transport. The extortionate price of public transport is my big bugbear with successive Governments trying to force people out of cars. I travel a round trip of 4 hours to every home game and would prefer to travel by train (to Parson St of course) but it is double the price and adds at least an hour to my journey.
  11. Nagy and we got rid. Highly underrated here imo. Perfect player to sit in midfield and keep recycling the ball.
  12. I totally agree with what others say about our players being gutless, clueless in possession, out of possession etc. Surely a bang average squad of players can be coached to play in a certain way so that everyone knows their exact role, position on the pitch in relation to where the ball is etc. We have been led to believe that Pearson prefers 442 / 4411 type formation. He has had 8 months to drill this system and style of play in to the players. Yes training becomes boring as you are constantly moving players around into different positions to counter different scenarios, but it can be mighty effective. If everyone is drilled in the same way injuries aren't such an issue because player x fills in and knows exactly what his role is within the structure of the team. Players can then build up partnerships within their area of the pitch, if one midfielder goes forward the other drops in, if one presses the other covers the second press. At the moment we look like 11 individuals that have turned up at Ashton Park and been told ''right lads your'e in today, do your best.'' The first few games of the season we looked reasonably organised and playing to a system even if not very effectively. It actually all went awry after the Cardiff game when Baker was retained at full back, since then we have been switching from one system to another without absolutely no cohesion.
  13. Unless there is a break clause in NP's contract (i.e dropping in to bottom 3), which I doubt then we can not afford to sack him at this stage. That means we have to crawl through to January when RG and NP will have to work minor miracles to bring in 3/4 players (within FFP) that NP can trust to put a bit of backbone into the team. If this means older hands on short term contracts so be it. We need to stay in this league. Unfortunately you then defer the 3 year project's start until next summer when a few of LJ's players are out of contract and can be moved on. In this scenario we would have to send a few youngsters out on loan to free up wages (Pearson, Bell, Conway maybe even Scott) As we saw the other night the likes of Troy Deeney are still decent. Wes Morgan probably not up to it but that sort of player short term. Personally I would rather see Pearson, Bell, Conway in the team than the continual use of Martin, Wells, Weimann but that seems unlikely to happen. Needs must but these are desperate times.
  14. Just put a bike rack over your number plate.
  15. Would have been even cheaper when it was first proposed by BCC and reported in the EP back in the late 70's early 80's.
  16. Agree that it should be done on occassions and the proof of that was Semenyo last year. Unfortunately Weimann does not have Semenyos pace. Most of Weimanns are pointless and he fails to put any pressure on the keeper. (not having a go at Weimann as he is one of our better players more the coaching staff who should be coaching him when to go and when to stay put).
  17. Even more frustrating is our total lack of a second and third press, thus allowing the player on the ball one or two easy options to bypass the press . Without this the initial press is a total waste of time. And talking about pressing can someone explain to me why Andi Weimann keeps running 40 yards to close down the opposition goalkeeper to absolutely no effect apart from wasting valuable energy.
  18. Have you seen the price of Electric cars!!
  19. Wish him all the best, but echo the worries of other posters that ill health may force him to look at the bigger picture. He did say in a very early interview that he would give it everything if remaining healthy... remember his first bout of covid was very bad, he couldn't walk or get out of bed for weeks.
  20. Yes we have 11 of them in the team....in fact Gus Ceaser was so poor he probably wouldn't even get in this side.
  21. Atkinson had time to turn inside and roll a simple pass back to Bentley thus retaining possession. Instead he sliced an upfield punt out for a cheap throw in about 10 yards up the pitch.
  22. Top 4 of the list are unrealistic, the rest totally uninspiring. Better off sticking with what we have,
  23. Ridiculous hypothetical which if enacted would cost the club the best part of £7 million. (£4 million to Sheff Utd / Wilder to pay off his contract and the rest to pay off Pearson, Fleming and Rennie whom I am guessing are all on 3 year contracts).
  24. Our problem isn' t the strikers it's the total lack of creativity behind them and from the wings. Harry Kane wouldn't score in this side. We need a creative midfielder and a bit of pace out wide, not anew striker imo.
