  1. oh well, just have to watch Man City v Leicester instead. Fingers crossed QPR goes ahead on Thursday.
  2. Is it the one via the Kennet and Avon Canal or Bristol Channel / English Channel/ Thames ?
  3. Even shorter when you factor in Nations League fixtures during June and the season starts again in July.
  4. Pre season and with Covid disruption in mind all Premier League teams agreed that matches would go ahead if a team had 14 available players. So why are Chelsea complaining about something they agreed to ?
  5. What utter tosh. He was running hard, working the channels and starting every press from the front in the first half. (Didn't notice so much second half as I was in the South stand). Just because the press isn't successful is not Martin's fault. Blame those around him who should be making sure Martin's man has no outlet ball. He did not stop working hard first 45 yesterday. Not his fault that most long balls pumped up long from the back favour a taller more powerful Centre Half. Most of the time all he can do is make it awkward for the Centre half to get a clean header. Not saying he should not be replaced but some of the criticism on here is wide of the mark, just spend 10 minutes in a game watching him and his work rate rather than jumping to preconceived ideas.
  6. Disagree with with most of the above. Benarous as a straight replacement for COD was the obvious choice. Where else could he have played today without totally reshuffling the midfield and leaving one of Massengo, James, Scott out. Pring has been out of favour and Benarous deserved his chance. Thought he had a decent game after the first 20 minutes when he was a bit anonymous.
  7. I did the same although a bit further along level with the 18 yard line.
  8. or we could cut the benefits of the 1.42 million freeloaders (not all I grant you), claiming unemployment benefit and train them for these jobs instead.
  9. Looks like I will be sat in a near empty stadium then. I will be there but wont be arriving an hour early as per the ridiculous advice.
  10. Norman Wisdom...unlikely
  11. Totally agree and if I was going (which I am not) I wouldn't contemplate buying a ticket until a few days before, just in case.
  12. Several games postponed this week, 42 positive cases reported in the Premier League in the last week and today the papers are reporting that the BMA are recommending, amongst other measures, a reduction in mass gatherings. Government to review the situation again on 18th December. Would not be a surprise to see ground capacities greatly reduced or even a return to ground closures throughout the end of December through January.

    January

Agree with comments above about keeping our powder dry til the summer. At the moment it looks like there is only one relegation place up for grabs and I would back us to pick up more points than Peterborough between now and the end of the season. The big unknown is how covid will affect football in the coming months. SL has to be aware that at the current rate Omicron is spreading there is a real threat to mass gatherings being banned and stadiums closed again. With Palmer the only way he will leave is similar to Nagy. Released on a free if someone will pick up his wages, or we subsidise those wages to ease his departure.
  14. Man Utd V Brentford now in doubt....think there may be trouble ahead.
  15. Nearly, except for a bit of grouting in the Roman Baths.
  16. I am triple jabbed, but am yet to hear a convincing argument of how owning a Covid passport prevents me passing on covid to others. Anyone not jabbed can easily show a negative LFT without taking a test, so what is the point of it all ?
  17. You're right 1.35 and 1.2 million respectively.
  18. Trundle (could be wrong but think he was our first £1m signing).
  19. Fairly easy to understand. You bought shares in players. The better the player the more expensive the shares. If the player has a good week (scores a hat trick, gets transferred for gazzillions then his share price goes up. You either cash in your shares for profit or keep them and hope they continue to increase. Or you take a punt on someone like Alex Scott who's share price would have been about 5p 18 months ago. Now would have been about 50p / £1 so you wait a couple of years for him to be sold then cash in when his price soars. The problem this company had was they paid out dividends on your shares from their profits. I have no idea how this worked as I never bought into it, but it was the paying of these dividends that brought them down. From memory Football Index was owned by 2 or 3 people from Wiltshire (possibly Chippenham).
  20. Oh well that saves a few pennies. No intention of making a 4 hour round trip to Ashton Gate for that one.
