AFC Bournemouth at home match day thread
ProfitInMyPocket replied to Jerseybean's topic in The Havanatopia Match Day Archive
FFP this, FFP that, four of their starting players are from their academy. They've only got four players who were bought for big substantial money in Solanke, Billing, Christie and Kelly which is fair enough. Lowe, Stacey were bought for not too expensive fees and Cahill was a free. These lot are missing loads of players and I think we have played teams who have spent much more and played much better. Our team just are not much of a threat going forward and porous defensively. If they had all their big earners playing I'd say the same but they don't; No Pearson, Brookes (obvious reasons), Cook, Smith, Mepham or Stanislas starting. We can't make those excuses when we ourselves have spent a fair amount of money on this eleven and are playing this poorly consistently at home. -

their left back is more of a danger going forward then our whole starting eleven, great finish from the lad but the defending, oh dear. -

Tanner, Williams and James are my standouts so far. Williams running his absolute socks off today, keep it up. -
I'd take someone who would score between 10-13 a season yes. People forget he was fairly consistent at getting goals each year barring the last 6 months where he was mentally done. He scored over 50 goals for this club and gets berated no end. Weimann's got maybe half of that and he's lorded as our saviour. People will forget the amount of wins he got us just because it didn't end well.
-
Yes he was poor today but so were many others, harsh to single out one person's performance when many others were below par. You can see through some games he's played for us that he has real quality on the ball and sometimes the game passes him by, he does need to do more and be more proactive. He probably is one of a couple of players in our squad who can split defences with good passes and can actually shoot from outside the box but it is a shame he has no-one to pass to that will get a chance on goal. He works on his simple game and contribute more defensively and people will talk about him like they did when he first got into the squad last season. He is 22 and is still learning under a proper manager now, give him time. We aren't promotion chasers, let's see which of our players grow and get better under NP. If NP plays him then I trust the decision.

Anticipation of the crowd for that challenge coming in and he didn't shy away from it and won the second one too. More of this please! Would like to see him step forward and offer a bit more going forward but good signs from him so far and will get better.

QPR haven't had a sudden change of style, they played the same way ever since Warburton came in, they've just improved the quality of the players in that time period. We robbed them at Loftus Road last year the exact same. I'm all for giving time to every manager but would just like to see a bit more attacking intent at Ashton Gate. Too rigid and has been that way for years. -

Bentley, Massengo and Kalas too - wow, what performances. We've been having these types of performances away from home for a couple years now even before Nige. It's time to sort the home performances now. Bakinson and Tanner first minutes this season, thought they played well, I bet they are knackered. Good subs today, all played well off the bench. QPR best side we've played this season and we played our usual away performance with the smash and grab which I'm all for but until home performances change I'm still going to be wary. If we could play like them at home with their attacking intent and the pace they play the ball around at, we'd be a proper proper team. -

Can Weimann and Martin hold onto the ball for more than one second, killing our momentum in build-ups and on the break -

We've had good possession but we actually need someone to shoot and test this keeper. Wells would do that given the chance. -

They get the ball forward quickly don't they, no messing about -
No. We sold/released our only goal threats/creative players. It's going to be turgid without any pace or willingness to run off the ball and in behind.

mental how Cam Pring is our most effective player going forward this season, really impressed with him and his effort. -

No real forward outlets. Getting given the run around by Cornick and Jerome says it all. Not technically strong players but players who are willing to run in behind with a bit of pace - which we lack massively. Thank goodness for Bentley. Should be 4 or 5. We're getting the ball in okay areas but no attacker linking up or dropping in to support with enough quality. Bullied off it so easily.
