I’m not suggesting the players shouldn’t have come during this recent break. It makes sense for Manning to use the time available to in-still his ideas. He probably had to. I’m solely highlighting the fact that our senior leaders and many posters on this forum have suggested the rest periods that were afforded by NP perhaps, were not normal at elite level. They obviously are.

Probably in the wrong thread, for all the stick about “de conditioning” and too much time off, it was interesting to hear Kevin Nolan (West Ham Coach) reveal that those not on international break for the Hammers had a full week off. This was on Talksport yesterday. Pearson was involved at elite level as was Rennie. Something JL and Tinnion have never operated at. Would suggest many top level sides perhaps have similar methods to NP/DR.

Let’s hope it’s not months. As Rooney is finding out, you’ll soon drop like a stone and find the world against you. He needs to implement his style (with players who won’t necessarily suit it) whilst continuing to pick up points. Very difficult. To be fair, NP was doing that. The next phase would’ve been to add some quality to those already in the building, to take us to that next level.

Wouldn’t we be better off focusing on what we do when we have the ball? Conceding goals hasn’t been our problem, neither is winning the ball back. I want to see us better with the ball, more importantly, in the final third whether that be quality or the right decision.

Im sure Manning doesn’t believe what he’s just said on Radio Bristol, around positives, pressing etc. Hopefully by December we’ll see what JL/BT have seen to make a change.
