It's been nice to see the up beat chat post Sheffield United game. And there where many positives in the game.

So why the booing after the game and by what type of fans. I have never booed the team. Not afraid to shout my dissatisfaction on particularly poor performances. And the after game level or applause seemed very subdued after the game as well. I applaud after the game unless we have been totally  Shit housery in our performance..

so was it just the result that got booed.

just seemed a funny performance to boo to me

It was for the ref at full time.

I felt Pearson deservedly took some stick when he brought Wells off. Heard jeers then.

Back when we were playing Shuffs the Western League big spenders were Tiverton, Taunton and Mangotsfield (all playing a higher level now)…and I think they had the locale, backing and grounds to resource it, albeit likely local businesses funding it ultimately.

The problem comes when that backing disappears.

Money came into Brislington (after I left) and I think it changed the whole fabric of the club, from being “one club” to a first team with mercenaries and the rest of the club.

Must say I totally disagree re Brislington, Dave. I hear this comment a fair bit from those outside of the club looking in, many I would suggest with a tad bit of jealousy. I enjoyed a couple of spells with Brislington as a youngster and must say the spell with Nigel Webb in charge would be as close as you’d get to a unified club (perhaps not as close as the 70’s and 80’s with the local lads) from first team to the 18’s. Some superb non league talent graced Briz during this period, far from mercenaries I can assure you - likes of Rob Claridge, Don Forbes, Tony Cook et al.

Perhaps you are referring to present day. I’m not close enough to speculate.

Don't think many clubs do that or can even afford to in todays market. Most Prem clubs want ready made players. There are exceptions like the lad from Villa whom Chelsea bought and Djed Spence to Tottenham. Both have stalled their careers and will be getting a lot of splinters in their backsides this season.

If potential was the key then I suspect we would only get  lower fees with generous add ons.

imo, Semenyo will end up at a top end Championship club looking for a bit of fire power to boost a promotion push. Scott will be taken by a top end Prem club who may pay us for the potential but It wouldn't surprise me if any deal was based on a lower fee with generous add ons.

All about opinions, re valuations and what clubs are prepared to pay and the way we value the players both on and off the pitch.

I think you have missed my point. The valuations our fans have set / spoken of are unrealistic (ie 20-25m).

I would suggest we would get between 7-10m max for them (at a push) as you say with generous add ons. Majority of that fee would be based on potential. Semenyo is nowhere near consistent enough and Scott also has some way to go.

Don’t get the bashing of FBC at all really on this forum.

I think Mark and Neil are normally a good listen. Davefevs brings a different perspective, and having Chris Honour come on the previous pod was a welcome voice and opinion.

Ian is not to everyone’s tastes, and the episodes where it’s just him and Dave P (which are fairly rare) aren’t as engaging I find.  But in general it’s my go to of the 3 fans podcasts that are out there. Dave P does a good job of hosting.

It’s the most of the 3 pods which is like a fans phone in and I quite like that ??????

If it’s out there as a public broadcast you are going to get opinions. I listen because it’s City related. I disagree with some of the views as much as I may agree. Mark Ashton used to do my swede in but I also couldn’t get enough of his self indulgent BS and oddly enjoyed listening to his interviews. They were cringey, Brent esq. Ian has this too - I do find him quite fascinating ?

Do enjoy the balance when Neil is on and when Chris Honor appears.

Great logic there. Drop a player who has arguably been our best defender and replace him with a bloke directly responsible for giving away 6 goals this season.

    Half term by any chance?

Sounds like you could do with a week off.

When I honestly thought we would have stability!! But something told me he wouldn't stay around long if something cricket came along,BUT now the question is who replaces him? Which now begs the question will Pearson like the new man? What is going on with this club.

Nothing is going on. These things happen. We have to deal with it.

Keane post match Chelsea game ?

Neville (quite rightly IMHO) criticising Ronaldo behaviour

Keane reveals , despite Neville spluttering , that Nevilles buddy Paul Scholes refused to play for a United previously

    Neville had to agree ?

Also points out Rio dodged a drug test

Going hammer and tongs while Jimmy Floyd sits in the middle feeling very awkward ?

I think ‘very heated debate’ covers it - great watch

    Superb watch.

Ferdinand was showing his blinded loyalties on BT sport earlier. Fair play to Crouch for responding.

Absolutely.  The squad doesn’t explain the inconsistency.  We beat West Brom comfortably on Tuesday, doing a real job on them.  So how do you explain today?  They should hardly need motivating, but if they do then whose job is that?

All I ask is that our players give maximum effort in every match they play, and I don’t see that being the case.  The fact is that Pearson seems sadly unable to get the best out of them week in week out, which is I’m afraid a damning indictment of him as a manager.

Am I the only one who didn’t find Tuesday “comfortable”?

They hit the woodwork twice, laid siege to our 18 years box for a good spell in the second half and hit double figures in corners. If (aunties/uncles yeah yeah) they had a frontline they’d of had a field day. Surely I was not alone in bricking it during the last 20 minutes? We did a job but it wasn’t comfortable.

It’s all about opinions, but I think we need Kalas back to play with Atkinson and Vyner. With the number of goals being conceded we need some solidity at the back. Naismith has played in just about every position, except goalkeeper, so play him as a defensive midfielder

Hopefully Vyner will be back on the bench when Naismith and Kalas return.

Can't love us that much if he wants to jump ship after a year

Not knocking the bloke, good for him but a City mega fan he is not

Out of interest and I’m not saying he has, but if you were offered double your money  in a sector you are passionate about, would you not consider it?

But why did his manager and Williams call out that Max was positive in his decisions " Max came for so many crosses I though he was brilliant " ?Did you watch the game or just your preconceptions ? There is another keeper that never comes out, as that might put himself at risk of failure. Or has that also passed you by ?

I guess previous posts may have passed you by - I haven’t said Bentley is perfect.

With regards to Pearson and Williams comments that you reference, of which I haven’t heard, they are highly unlikely to state whilst Max was positive in his actions, he sometimes failed to comfortably execute a number of punches from crosses.

Before you get yourself further overexcited, I said he did okay. Perhaps that also passed you by.

One game only, but felt like a coming of age for Max last night.  He has never tried to dominate his box in the past, like he did last night.

Plays Saturday, involved in a cock-up for their winner, but backed by Nige post-match….he might’ve thought he’d blown his chance.  Last night he was confident and decisive.  His defenders seemed confident and decisive too.

I also like that in open play, his starting position is higher than Bents, meaning he decreases the distance between him and his defence when we get to play a high line.  Less room for opponents to chip balls into space.

Big period of games coming up for him.

    O'Leary was superb last night.

I described him as a lower league keeper the other day, and I stand by that because up until 24 hours ago that is all I had ever really seen from him.

If he can keep up regular performances like that, I will be delighted to be put in my place.

Still don’t feel comfortable with MO’L between the sticks. Thought he did okay yesterday but didn’t think his punching was fantastic and he does lack real presence, especially when defending set pieces. As an opposing manager I’d be looking to crowd the six yard box and get on top of him.

    His distribution is very good.
