It might just be that the professional coaching staff, who work with and see LB on a daily basis think he's not yet ready to play at this level.

    Just a thought.

Fair point - it’s not as if the “professionals” hadn’t gotten us in to this mess over the last 3 years or so with lack of direction and poor recruitment. Wrap the forum up lads.

No, what people are suggesting is that surely he's worth bringing on for the last 20 minutes to put himself about a bit rather than watching Martin send himself to an early grave every week.

What people are basing that on is his performances in the u23s where it seemed last season he scored in pretty much every game and the only opportunity people would have seen him live against a now Premier League team, he knocked both centre backs on their arses and scored a poachers goal, all in about 15 minutes.

The club have not said he is miles away from this level. They said his fitness needs to improve. That would be to start games. He can't start games, fine. But he COULD influence it from the bench. If he comes on for 3 games and is crap, send him on loan to Woking and you can celebrate. If he comes on gets an assist and a goal late on in a couple of games, great!

Absolutely this. We are flogging Martin to death - give they guy some bloody help !!! We may end up getting better quality out of Martin in a 70 minute outing. Britton took his chance last time when many others seem to get there’s, get criticised by the manager and then start again the following week !

Yep I did thanks........the San marino game was the exception that proves the rule.  I DO NOT see the point in the England men's team playing that game, but it was a very rare situation, whereas in women' s  football scores of that nature are commonplace.  There is an elite   dozen of women's international' teams, and then an extremely poor majority.  In men's football the reverse is true.  Some sort of seeding should be introduced to prevent these sort of games, which are completely pointless, and must demoralise teams like Latvia, and do them no favours?

In respect of Englands game - has anyone ever asked a San Marino player if they’ve wanted to play against England ? I bet many would love to continue sharing a pitch with your Beckhams, Kane’s, Linekars etc. different perspective perhaps. Something to tell the grandkids at least.

Just looked at Pearson’s 5 signings. Simpson, James, King, Atkinson, Tanner.

20 games gone. 100 possible starting places. They’ve started 50.
That’s a 50% strike rate from the latest crop.

I’m gonna stop now - it’s gets ever more depressing!!

Somewhat skewed owing to injuries and player characteristics. Simpson and King have been brought in to strengthen a depleted and inexperienced squad. Tanner and Atkinson have been positive and both have real room to improve. James needs a partner and someone to compliment his qualities rather than match. Pearson has an eye for a player. More confident in him to spend it wisely than I was Lee Johnson/Mark Ashton. I understand some of the sentiment though.

Paterson now has 8 goals in the league this season, that’s 6 fewer than Palmer has scored in his entire career.

    But he’s a “one good game in 10” player, isn’t he? ?

He was for us. I’m sure I read that the summer gone was incredibly tough for him following his release. May be that’s given him the kick up the ass that was needed and a bit of focus. Good luck to him - for his sake.

  6. Heard a tribute from Adrian Durham on Talksport. As one of the early premier league stars, linked in with my early days of March / Shoot magazines, it’s hard not to feel ties with Speed. Played with the emotions it did. What a player and appeared a great guy. Whilst I appreciate he was levels above, what we would do for a goal scoring midfielder like him. Magnificent at timing his runs and great in the air. RIP fella. Time has flown.

  7. 1 goal every 15 tells you exactly where we’ve been the last few years. He’s 26 years of age now and flattered to deceive in pretty much his whole 5 years here. I’m pleased he’s done well in his last two fixtures and contributed. It’s about time - he’s classed an international and cost over a 1m quid. Does he have ability? Yes. Not disputing that, many probably aren’t. Would question his courage though, something needed to eek out his ability and utilise it consistently week in week out. Prove us doubter wrong, Callum.
