  1. Fairly sure he's good friends with Joe Williams too I believe. Not that it means a great deal in football these days, but Joe may play a part in trying to get him here.
  2. Was extremely versatile during his time at Wigan. Now looks a very accomplished centre back, who is comfortable on the ball. Loves to venture forward with the ball too. If I'm being honest, I thought he would be out of our range after the season he's just had, so would be delighted if we managed to sign him.
  3. An equal spending cap to be issued across the leagues, wages also. £10m max spend for each team in the division (championship). Clubs decide whether that justifies signing one £10m player, or one £5m player and two £2.5m players etc. Prem would be allocated £50m max spend per team, League one £2m max spend, and League Two £1m max spend etc. This would bring the financial side of the game back down to reality. Parachute payments are destroying the EFL. Whilst the Mbappe contract extension proves how ridiculous things have become.
  4. Likely to have bigger clubs after him, but I would go all out for Scott Twine, £5m-£7m should be enough to secure him. We could offer him a route to Prem football should he do well, which in turn could secure us another huge fee in the future. Not a like-for-like with Semenyo, but has all the attributes required to be a success at this level. He can play either out wide, or centrally, and could rotate positionally with Weimann. That said, Norwich, Burnley and many others have already been credited with an interest in him.
  5. No guarantees on Semenyo. Would like to have him, but is expecting interest. Pearson won't stand in his way of playing Prem football. Any deal will be on our terms. "If he does go anywhere, it's going to be expensive for somebody".
  6. Palmer, Vyner, Moore and Kalas are my guesses. Kalas controversial, but his wages may be a big factor.
  7. All but announced Mark Sykes deal. Initially stated that he won't talk about deals until they are done. But when pressed, said that Mark Sykes has all the qualities we are looking for.
  8. 4 players have been told they can leave this summer. I believe he said that all 4 are out of contract at the end of next season. Specifically said Nahki Wells is not one of them. He wants to keep him.
  9. It sounds like Forest are interested, but their stance gives us huge leverage in negotiations. If they gain promotion, it appears they would move on to different targets instead. Surely that won't give Wilson much confidence in moving there. We can offer Wilson regular games now, whilst also being our right back/wing back for years to come. FWIW, our situation wouldn't be too dissimilar to that of Middlesbrough's this season. At the start of the season they had Djed Spence and Isaiah Jones battling for the right wing back position. Jones claimed the position, which he looks set to return for years to come, and Middlesbrough look set for a huge transfer fee from selling Spence. Sometimes youth is the way to go.
  10. The problem with making the jump to a club like Watford is the sheer competition they have for places. Ngakia was considered one of the best young talents in the Prem when he was at West Ham. Then he joined Watford and has ended up playing lots of U23 football as he has Feminia ahead of him. Ethan Laird would be a good example during his time at Bournemouth this season. He was a regular for Swansea during his loan spell and was performing well. Then he ends up joining Bournemouth in January and barely featured for the second half of the season. We can offer Wilson regular games, something we have proof of in the likes of Semenyo and Scott. Rob Atkinson being another example of stepping up a league and being given a run of games throughout the season. We could also offer Wilson the chance to progress his career. At a team such as Watford, it takes one bad patch of form, and suddenly you fade into the background and are playing Under 23's football.
  11. Great news for Jamie. Such a nice bloke, always has time for a chat and I hope he does well in his new role. Could be the location of Reuben's first loan in a year or two?
  12. Has every chance of replicating Scott Twine, albeit from Right wing back. 22 years old, double figures for assists, out of contract (small fee required due to regulations), and potential to command a high future fee. Would be nice to see us actually secure this signing. Still annoyed that we didn't pursue Twine last year. Could make the position his own for years to come, with Tanner challenging him, that's a great future for the club.
  13. For me, this could be the best bit of business we do this summer. IF we can get it over the line.
  14. Struggling to find the original link from James Piercy, but came across this on twitter.
  15. Been a few rumours of Warburton taking over at Birmingham. If that does happen, I could see Wells ending up there.
  16. Every signing made this summer will be scrutinized more than ever before. - How will they fit in the team? - Do they improve us? - was better available? - Why did we sign them and then sell "...." - "this is going to be a long season" / "Now I'm excited for the season ahead" - Is this all we could get? There's no doubting we need signings in early this summer. We look to have established a playing style, and Nige will be keen to settle the new signings in early and have his squad ready for pre-season. I firmly believe that free agents will arrive to 'shape' the squad. Then any departures will free up some funds for a replacement to be signed. E.g. Massengo departs (£4m), new signing (£1.5m). This will help to support our financial situation.
  17. I don't believe that is the purpose of signing Sykes. His style of play is solely attacking. He can play centrally or out wide right. Nige said before that we don't have any wide players, and we don't have any defensive midfielders. This signing addresses one of those issues. I would certainly expect an 'out and out' right back to arrive this summer.
  18. Guessing Nige wants deals done early. Then providing we get any offers we can't refuse for the likes of Semenyo, Scott or Massengo then we will have money available to replace them with quality additions.
  19. I would be happy with this. A free transfer, at the right age (24), and his career is on an upward trajectory. He has goals and assists to his game, let's hope he is determined to prove himself. Would be a good start to the window. I see the links to Pack have started as well (Richard Forrester - Bristol Post), as well as Andy King renewing for another year.
  20. From that list of targets, they will be playing championship football again after one season. Good championship players, but surely they must be aiming higher.
  21. It's a tough decision. Do we run the risk of losing him this summer, but have the benefit of a bidding war commence amongst many teams, thus driving up his price. Bournemouth will have money to spend, and could surpass the Lloyd Kelly deal. Or do we enter into next season, hoping he replicates the fantastic form of this past season, and try to do all we can to secure him on a new contract. One thing we need to be sure of, is to not sell in January. The January market has proved to not be as high-spending as the summer. Therefore, if we are to sell, it must be now, or in a year's time. My main concern would be how well prepared are we for his departure. I struggle to see a like-for-like replacement that could arrive. The reason for this concern is that we seem to have a perfect blend of styles with Semenyo - Martin - Weimann. Bringing in a player with a different style of play would set us back to square one. We can't afford to see yet another key player run their contract down into the last year.
  22. I could see LJ doing well at a team like MK Dons should Manning leave. The club already have a structure in place, and a way of playing out from the back. They like to dominate possession and have many quality young players. The groundwork has been layed out at MK Dons, and if he was willing to adapt to their style of play, then he could fit in well there. The football we showed on the Carabao cup semi-final season was very similar to the way in which MK Dons play now. If he can replicate that, then he could be a success.
