  1. A possible scenario: Burnley are credited with an interest in Lyndon Dykes (QPR). QPR could then turn their attention towards Nahki?
  2. Slowly but surely, Nige is starting to get a tune out of this squad. In recent weeks, we look much more comfortable within possession. We are pressing teams well and forcing them back. Too often previously have we invited pressure, yet today was a great example of how well we can move the ball and let the opposition worry about us. Fulham struggled to get out of their half during the first half of today's game. On another day, we get the win today, and quite comfortably too. We seem to have found a formation that suits us. So much so that we are now starting to see competition for places. The decision to bring Max in and drop Bentley was bold. However, it now looks to be the correct decision and has been a contributing factor to us looking to play out from the back (and doing so successfully). This is still going to be a long process. The club was clear that this will take a minimum of 3 years, our financial situation certainly backs that up. But we are starting to see improvements being made. We have an extremely young squad, that has many outstanding talents that could not only be the future of the club, but also the present too. The foundations are starting to be set for what is to come.
  3. No queues in the concourse for a pint may have me celebrating early ?
  4. Well the ridiculous pricing hasn't helped. This could have been a game used to get young fans down to the ground and to generate interest amongst the next generation. Reduced adult prices (£10-£15) would have seen at least 15,000 down there.
  5. Decided to take the kids down for the first time today. Not going to get the full experience though by sounds of it, with a small crowd expected.
  6. It's common for this to happen. I may be mistaken, but I always believed that clubs can allow 20 players to travel to games. This means you have your standard squad (11 starters, 7 subs) then +2 players in the event of injuries occuring during the warm up, resulting in last minute changes to the match day squad. Palmer has been seen doing fitness work before games previously. As mentioned above, he was out early with Danny Simpson against Huddersfield and did running drills over by the Dolman stand.
  7. I really like him in the Left Centre Back position in the back 3. He offers perfect cover for COD which then allows COD to push high up the pitch and join the attack. Pring has the awareness to step out wide to cover which suits the system perfectly. There is an element of Joe Bryan in his play, especially when attacking, but COD has secured the Left Wing Back role for the time being, and rightly so. However, Pring can certainly secure that Left Centre Back role for himself moving forward. There are opportunities for players to stake a claim this season, our financial situation only adds to that. Pring can certainly be classed as a player who has taken their chance. A big well done to him.
  8. Fantastic turn around from the boys! Weimann in a central position is dangerous. Massengo also did very well. This is going to be trial and error for a while, but the players looked determined to get the result in that second half.
  9. Ogbene from Rotherham would be the perfect fit at Right Wing Back.
  10. What a day for the academy! 7 academy graduates starting. Granted circumstances have played a part, but if we can get a win today, that's some achievement for the club.
  11. I have no bad feelings towards King. In fact his passion for the club is to be admired. A silly mistake, but we move on. We are lucky to have him driving the team on at a time where passion and desire will be key for us.
  12. Credit to every single one of those lads tonight. That was a gutsy performance from start to finish. A team performance to be proud of, yes granted we don't take any points, but that was a real sign of intent that there is a fighting spirit within this squad. Many of the players ran themselves into the ground for the team tonight. On another day, we take the 3 points there. A nightmare from the referee, so many bad decisions.
  13. Double standards of refereeing there! Yes it's a penalty, Pring didn't need to make the challenge, he had cover behind him. But the one on Scott earlier on, was just as much a penalty.
  14. What a difference the movement offers up front. Fluid football in the early stages.
  15. If Bentley is on the bench, you would imagine he is fit enough to play?
  16. Exactly! Williams is who I was alluding to, however getting him fit is the main issue.
  17. I would like to see Cod/Pring at LWB, Alex Scott at RWB, Benarous in the 'number 10' position, and a strike partnership of Weimann and Semenyo. Pring did well when he came on, seemed to have a positive effect on the game. And I also felt Benarous did well in the later stages of the game once playing centrally.
  18. Faced a tough task today, up against O'Brien (Huddersfield's number 8), who I felt controlled large portions of the game. Massengo covered a lot of ground, and had some shots on target, but struggled to get a foothold on the game. It certainly didn't seem as though he had possession of the ball much today. My opinion is that Massengo and James are complete opposites and probably don't compliment eachother all that well due to James not being as mobile. This can often lead to Massengo having to compensate for some of James' running, which can drag Massengo out of position. I feel Massengo and James could work better if part of a midfield 3, which would allow another 'runner' to play alongside HNM, and allow Matty James to 'Anchor' the midfield and dictate the play.
  19. I like the options that Semenyo and Weimann offer us. Flexibility to rotate between formations. The main issue facing us currently is that the two of them are linking up nicely, but Martin is rarely in the box. A mobile striker could make for an exciting front three, whilst albeit all 3 players playing narrowly. Add in the width of Benarous and Alex Scott and that's a very decent attack. Semenyo is at his best through the middle. He looked a handful during the early phases of the game, and seems eager to get his shots away. Another option could be to have COD as the LWB, Scott as RWB and then move Benarous into the '10' role that Weimann currently plays, and try a strike partnership of Weimann and Semenyo.
  20. Gives the ball away far too much. There was a moment in the first half where he was unchallenged and couldn't play a simple 10 yard pass with 3 options ahead of him. Instead he passed it to a Huddersfield player which sparked an immediate counter attack. Space behind him all game and doesn't seem to have the awareness, or physical attributes required to get himself out of trouble. If he wasn't an academy graduate, I don't think he would be getting a game.
  21. I didn't say "no future in the game". However, with the way the game is changing, he either needs to add more to his game, or he will find himself dropping down the divisions.
  22. My issue with Palmer is that he doesn't have enough attributes that are required to play in the attacking midfielder position in the championship. His biggest strength is his ability to play a through ball. However, what often gets overlooked is that he attempts to play those through balls due to his lack of mobility. Many teams are now moving away from systems that require an attacking midfielder, instead opting for a 4-3-3. Yet, those teams that do continue to play with an attacking midfielder, often deploy players who are very much the opposite mould to Palmer. An example would be Illias Chair at QPR, Small, tenacious, mobile and is able to drop into pockets all over the pitch. George Honeyman (Hull) would be another good example of this. Kasey Palmer is the complete opposite, he is often found in the central area, unable to take players on, closed down, and forced into playing a through ball that may or may not come off. All of the current top 4 teams in the division, are now looking to set up in a 4-3-3 due to the flexibility it offers them. Players can easily change their set up when in and out of possession. Palmer doesn't possess the flexibility required to play a multitude of positions and that will be his biggest downfall as a championship player. This is why I believe offloading him may be a trickier task than first thought, add in his wages and it's hard to see where he may end up.
  23. Get in!! Three points are within reach in this game. Need to make the most of the momentum!
  24. The overall performance hasn't been too bad. Our biggest problem is we don't have anyone with the attacking instinct to take the shot on. Martin seems to be everywhere but where you would expect him to be. We have created a couple of opportunities, but unable to trouble the keeper. A striker must be top of the list in January.
  25. How many times has Vyner played a lose pass! If he wasn't an academy product, it's likely he would have been sold a long time ago.
