I kinda get why they’ve sacked O’Neil.  I’m guessing their aspirations are higher than where they think he can take them.  I think that is fair enough, even if it appears harsh.

Whether the new man is the right man, remains to be seen…strong chance he’ll fall flat on his arse (most managers do) and the sacking of O’Neil will look silly.

O’Neil leaves with reputation in-tact, but his that prepares him for next job is unknown.

Reminds me a bit of when Southampton sacked Nigel Adkins to much criticism (who got them promoted) for Pochettino who was an unknown to most English fans at that point, Poch obviously improved them massively and the rest is history

will do some before end of season. then next season won't be doing post match. just interviews or random topic discussions

That’s a shame but appreciate it is time consuming and you aren’t getting paid for it, so understandable. End of an era though, have really enjoyed living vicariously through you lot and your post match discussions / emotions as they have often helped me keep more level headed especially after defeats!

Almost like we'd be in a slightly better spot if we didn't sell Towler.

I’m not sure you can legislate for Atkinson, Kalas and Naismith all being injured at the same time, unless you expect them to have a crystal ball

    Always injured.

Will be interesting to see how his contract situation pans out because he won’t be offered much elsewhere if he’s out for a while again now.

    Reckon he might retire soon

That team spirit and the confidence that comes from an unbeaten run - allied with a full house roaring them on - could make for an interesting night on Tuesday. Not saying we will, but if we are going to cause an almighty upset, it does feel like the ingredients are there to do it.

The beauty of the game on Tuesday is that even though we will probably lose our overall unbeaten run, we still have a 9 game unbeaten run in the league to protect, so it’s a bit of a free hit in some respects

  6. I think playing Alex Scott against a struggle side will give him more of an opportunity to flourish, so I would keep him in. If we were to drop anyone for Mehmeti, it would be Bell, but I would prefer to keep with the starting 11 from Saturday and make the impact subs in the second half.

Delighted, an excellent choice, someone who is clearly rated & respected by his team mates.

Bit odd that apparently “we don’t really need him”.

Looks like that is this season’s “he just runs around”.

You can see why the narrative has developed though. Coincidence or not our upturn in form has come at the same time as his time out of the team, and we have just bought two additional fast forwards. Hopefully he proves everyone wrong and plays as well as he did last season, as club captain.

I don’t think Sykes was preferred as such. Wilson took a knock before his current injury so Sykes got the nod and then didn’t really do much wrong so kept his place

I remember there was a home game early on where Pearson played Alex Scott in RWB rather than Wilson, I think he justified it by saying he wanted all his best players on the pitch at the time, but I felt Pearson was reluctant to play him because of perceived defensive issues.

  9. Played for the U21s today. Really can’t wait to see what he can do in a City shirt. This season is probably too soon for him, and I know there have been some concerns defensively, so probably best to build him back slowly and get him ready for next season. Interesting to see how we play him too as we bought him with 352 in mind and now we play with a four. Was interesting to see how Pearson preferred an out of position Sykes to him earlier in the a season.

Either way, happy to see his recovery is going well and look forward to seeing him soon.
