In fairness the contract offer has been on the table for 8+ months. I really, really want Han to sign it, but as manager you can’t formulate plans either with him or without him if you don’t know what he’s gonna do.
All he’s said is he becomes more of a fringe / squad player at this point in time. Nige won’t bear a grudge, if he signs, I suspect Nige will be delighted.
It isn’t mind games at all, it’s just answering the question honestly. He did what he said with Bakinson didn’t he? He doesn’t really make idle threats, he will challenge players though.
There is another school of thought which would say that Pearson has been the direct beneficiary of players running down their contracts at Luton and FGR this summer, and actually our recruitment strategy could not work without that happening, so to be so publicly forceful against players running down their contracts here seems to be him trying to have his cake and eat it

Not the Top 20 podcast put us in at 12th which is I believe the biggest improvement in league positions in terms of their predictions in the Championship

Maybe I am reading the article wrongly but I thought the writer implies we are playoff hopefuls?
Correct, he’s saying we are in the chasing pack which is one of the more optimistic assessments of our prospects this season, which have tended to vary between relegation candidates and 12th place.

Thought Nige was very open today, really do enjoy listening to him speak

I just assumed it was because I ordered mine relatively late (maybe a few weeks after the cut off date to retain seats) and they were sending them out in time order or something like that!

A easy win ! If you’ve learned anything about football especially the championship , then there no such thing as a easy win .
I think our last game against Hull was probably the textbook definition of an easy win, although I appreciate we couldn’t have known that in advance!

I had to sit in the home end because I missed the deadline to buy away tickets. People around me seemed surprised by how well we played and equally felt that it was a foregone conclusion that Bournemouth would finish bottom of the league without some new signings, particularly in defence.
First time seeing Sykes in person and I thought he looked excellent, also a shout out to our centre backs who made a number of towering headers and made Bournemouth’s attackers look ordinary. Thought Naismith was a vocal, dominant and reassuring presence at the back particularly as he was talking both Vyner and Atkinson through the first half, both of whom played better than I was expecting.
I was fully expecting us to capitulate in the last 30 mins as we brought on the youngsters and Bournemouth’s team were strengthened with the introductions of Moore and Stanislas. Overheard someone say “this is now our first eleven” after those subs were made.
Was really impressed with how we coped, with Kadji (someone I’d never heard of) demonstrating a really interesting range of passing, and Massengo growing into to “senior” player in midfield (which I thought as ironic as he is always seen as the young player usually!). Massengo showed some excellent touches and kept the ball in tight spaces, which was very handy as the game felt quite congested at times.
Overall can’t help but be impressed by what was a very professional display today, which makes me feel more confident going into the new season. You reds!

Made a last minute decision to come to this, realised I’d missed the deadline for ticket sales and decided to buy a ticket in the home end. I guess I just miss live football too much! COYR

@Harry any more thoughts on recruitment after the start of this window? Do you know if anything has changed since your post or has our recruitment department been underestimated? Genuinely interested to see how we seem to have got our act together this summer compared to the last three

It’s actually got to the point where I couldn’t care less if he’s actually good for us or not, the reaction of the Luton fans and the wider EFL know it alls has made this signing worth it already. He doesn’t even need to play as far as I’m concerned

Ryan Kent just reminds me of how poor we were in the second half of the 17/18 season. What a waste that was

For a major European final I think this game has been fairly low on quality in my opinion. Maybe it’s the heat

Let’s not pretend we didn’t all run onto the pitch when we got promoted against Rotherham and when we beat Palace in the play offs

Quite nervous about tomorrow. Logically I think with the continuity of our squad and the quality of our new players we should beat them, however Hull City are the least predictable team to call in the championship at the moment and I am concerned they may put on a strong opening performance in front of their fans which takes us by surprise. What will be will be!
