Due to engineering work taking place between BTM and Weston-s-m,rail replacement bus's will be in operation.

Would NEVER suggest using the X1 from Ashton Gate to Nailsea Yatton Weston s-m etc but on this occasion I will.

Lets be glad its the home game and not the away game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

X1 doesn't serve Nailsea and Yatton. X1 nearest to Nailsea is Backwell and Cleeve or Congresbury nearest to Yatton.

First three league games all a bit similar for us. Three teams I would expect to be in the middle third come the end of the season, all established and never give us an easy game. More of the same from the first two I would expect.

A month or two ago I thought Preston and Birmingham would struggle. Preston have made since then some solid signings and Birmingham fans confidence pre season much higher with new owners and a bit of cash from the Bellingham sale.

Birmingham won on Saturday with a 91st minute winner, us in the 94th. Identical records, albeit on two games, and in the table ‘as it stands’ they sneak ahead of us by being one of the few teams to beat us alphabetically, damn them.

Anything other than a close game will be a shock, fingers crossed we sneak it. If a BCFC comes out of this match with 7 points from the first 3, they will be delighted!

Should have sent them down a few seasons back.

For the umpteenth time on here I believe we were doing Cotts a favour. Bryan didn't think even beat the first man with crosses or free kicks from around their box. It was so obvious  and still gripes with me as much as Tomlin's launch into space from the penalty spot and Flint's uneccessary cameo in the forward line when we leading Wolves in a Christmas time game. ?

  3. Just been over on Ass Chat as I couldn't find their attendance yesterday. Seems an item on the topic quoted 7929 with 500 away fans. To my amusement a banner add popped up encouraging people to join the RSPB as Nature needs you. Haven't they just destroyed some wildlife habitat in their rush to get the Lego "stand' built? Another own goal.

At sometime over the last 24 hours my e-ticket for the Birmingham match on "August 5th" updated to the Birmingham match on August 19th. All hail Bristol Sport techies! It looks like they do read this forum.

Mine still shows Brum on the 5th August. Not that I'm concerned but why is it so ad hoc?

  5. An accurate description of LJ's ability, playing style and skills (lack of) as far as I'm concerned. I always maintained his only involvement in a game was receiving a pass and playing it in the direction he was facing, to the nearest player, regardless of what pressure that put him under. Now if that's what you call keeping the ball moving etc then you can keep it. As for tackling he would be in the hurdle relay team with McIndoe and Sproule.

While I'm at it, was stoppage time too low?

I thought so..under the new rules the Weimann injury, the substitutions plus the varied Preston time wasting I dunno if there was enough.

Plus the time Max takes to do anything. Far more than PNE's total time wasted.

Clearly a bloke with a questionable lifestyle, but each to their own on the legal aspects.

Don’t really know the ins and outs of what he was accused of and what the girls actually said, but ultimately he’s been found not guilty. Let him go to France and be their problem now.

Appreciate that very few accusations turn into convictions, and not guilty doesn’t mean innocent. It’s also probably worth considering that most rape allegations are one word vs another - done in private with no witnesses, that’s why it’s so rarely convicted. I’m not sure there’s a way to increase conviction rate in a 1 v 1 scenario without drastically lowering the burden of proof.

Exactly what you say on many rape cases. My only jury service was a rape case and on the evidence presented by the only two people present there was no way a guilty verdict could be achieved. Took six men and six ladies a little under 2 hours to decide.

  8. Found this part of the suppliers statement on their propoganda site heralding their New Access System Partnership (stop snickering at the back)

It’s the first time that Axess will have taken on a stadium like this in the UK.

Talk about stating the bloody obvious.

Think you have something here GR. I'm sure someone could come up with some simple relevant words for this ditty. Not my forte though. And after he scores we could give the away supporters a blast of Who are you.

  10. Just had to find this topic today, which was way down the pages, as I did it in one. So guess there will be plenty of others who will do this with their best starting word.

Well from what little I know of the law they’ve already breached one about undertaking construction works prior to 0730 and one about not ripping down trees between May and September.

As that’s documented I’d hope that the appropriate authorities deal with them.

Not only between those dates. Similar to an application next door to me. If you look at the application form where information is provided to the question "are any trees or hedges to be removed" the NO dot is filled in.

I've got myself all kinds of confused.

Danbury red said and you made in bold - "how long it takes the keeper to kick the ball out."

You seem to be quoting a rule about indirect free kicks, is the keeper kicking from hands considered indirect free kick?

I didn't make it that clear did I?Law 12 pertains to Fouls and Misconduct it then lists the "punishment" to be applied ie. 1 is direct free kicks 2 is indirect free kicks. Under these sections it then lists all the conditions that can be punished. So basically indirect free kick is the punishment for goalkeeper having ball in hand for more than 6 seconds after  first touch with arm or hand.

Trust that makes it clearer, if not go to https://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/lawsandrules

Nope, this was changed to the refs discretion. The crowd chanting before the rule was changed was cringe enough, after the rule changed (which I heard a few times last season) adds ignorance.

I was unsure on this one so I checked.

LAWS OF THE GAME & FA RULES

    LAW 12: FOULS AND MISCONDUCT

IFAB Laws of the Game 2023-24

    2. Indirect free kicks

    • controls the ball with the hand/arm for more than six seconds before releasing it
