o well thats telling me. u did use one word i agree with. Idiots

I agree with your frustration, pearsons results are shambolic, i was going to stick up for you for people giving you grief, because their opinions are different than yours, but you need to respect their views too.

Nope, but Prince Abdullah quoted as “why would we pay off £4m - almost one years money for him to resign”, and then as per below.

We’d likely have to pay Sheffield Utd compensation running into £m’s to take him on.  It’s probably why Swansea and Forest baulked at the idea.

And finally do you think he’d have taken a job here?

A football manager out of work would have taken a job if the package was right, just like anyone else.

Chris “£4m compensation to Sheffield Utd” Wilder?  That one?  Come on!!!

Have you had sight of his contract at sheffield united to verify this? The only 4 million figure ive seen is a press report claiming he may or may not have asked for that as a severence when he left them, not that sheffield united will demand that as a compensation payment

And what would he have done with this squad ? The players ain’t good enough. Stop blaming the manager & point the finger at the real problem

He signed king, james, atkinson, tanner, simpson plus renewed weimann and baker which was presumably at least partially his decision. 6 of them played yesterday and we were a shambles.

we ought to have enough quality in the rest of the players to at least try to compete and have some desire, that should be the least we should expect from a pearson team, we know he aint guardiola, but he cant even get them to do that.

Both allegedly took significantly lower deals.  I cannot confirm exact details, but Weimann allegedly accepted a 3 year deal on half his “contract option” wage.  So say he was on £20k p.w. he’s now on £10k.  Of course that’s decent in our terms, but it’s a big come down.  I heard Baker is on less than half what he was on, but decent appearance bonus.  Again, all word of mouth….but Nige has implied similar re both players.  He’s cut best part of £1m p.a. off the wage bill.

Re your second para, yep, I don’t think all money generated will become available either.

Yeah, for post covid contracts, weimann and baker will be on fairly significant contracts, which could obviously have been used for anyone out of contract last summer. Such a shame that the likes of cod, palmer, and wells are all on pre covid contracts and will be around until at least the end of this season

Pretty much agree with all of this.

So far, NP has brought in 4 players? Atkinson, James, King and Tanner, and aside from King, all of them have been an improvement on what we already had. If he can do that again, in the next transfer window (but most likely next summers transfer window rather than January), then that'll be another 4 of his own players, that'll be nearly a whole team of upgrades on what we currently have. If you consider that maybe one or two of what we have already can hold their own, then we might look a bit better next season

He's got no money to do this, so until we sell or offload to save wages, it's a slow burn process.

I said on another thread last night, I'd be tempted to sell Bentley (even though I'd like to keep him), to try and speed  things up, and to also up the quality of players we can afford.

He also re- signed baker and weimann who will both be on decent wages too, plus simpson.

im also in favour of selling anyone we can get money for to get a decent striker in, but im not sure we would get all the money to spend if we did that.

I'd flog Bentley for as much as possible and use the cash on a winger and striker.

Realistically flogging him scott and massengo is the only way we have to raise funds

This team is predominantly Lee Johnson's and Dean Holden's team, and looked what happened to them, sacked.

Nige ain't perfect but he's a damn sight better than those two. No other manager could get a tune out of these misfits.

Our best players this year and who seem to still be progressing have been the young players coming through - Pring, Massengo, Scott and Tanner. That says it all about this team.

Other teams in this league would not be clambering to take players off our hands, I wonder why? Not good enough.

A lot of them are not good enough for what we need right now. Not enough quality, not strong enough mentally and physically not up to the task. Once things don't go their way they revert to type and it's same old story Bristol City.

To be fair, tanner atkinson and james are his, and he sanctioned the new contracts for weimann and baker, so thats 5/11 of tonights team.

Dead right I now think it's a mental attitude, its got to the players.  I believe nige has improved us just about everywhere with the poor squad we have apart from the mental side which is down to players on pitch not nige.  The squad is short of quality which nige can change if backed like lj was.

You dont think pearson is setting us up to try and waste time, kill the game and and play hoof ball to play percentages?
