  1. Very interesting if what was reported about his agent is true. Indicates they feel he can step right into the top of the game already, not needing the West Ham/wolves stepping stone which it would clearly be. To be fair if he goes to a team in Europe and plays as good as he has for us, that’s when teams will start showing that ridiculous money for him. Personally, would prefer for him to stay in England as it’ll be easy to track his career, but as long as a club meets our valuation I think he’s good enough to perform anywhere.
  2. Are those sponsorship/retail numbers correct? Ik historically Ipswich are bigger than us but that seems like a very big margin to me. (Admittedly not clued into the finances of football especially unrelated to transfers) Edit: Thought it was talking about Ipswich not Stoke, my bad.
  3. Think Jason Knight currently, seems like a more defensive version of Andi. Not necessarily one of the best in the league at any one thing (semenyo -pace&power, scotty beating a man/chance creation) but very good all around. As the stats shown by @Davefevs suggest. Can understand why people at first might turn their noses up, might not be the flashiest or the most intriguing player to watch, but not every player can be. Seems very adept in the press, composed, passes well and good tackling. Imo all of what I want from a central midfielder. Seems that some forget he’s also only 21 as well, if we do end up spending 2m or around there on him, it’s clear that he’s favoured by Pearson because he has a plan for him. Might see him as a Korey smith type, hassles opponents and doesn’t give them space. Or a Josh Brownhill, deep chance creation etc. A Pearson transfer hasn’t let me down yet, except Wilson (injuries most likely ruined his city career), so I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt on this one.
  4. Would think a maximum of 2 more come in if Scott does go. (Excluding Jason Knight) Would be stupid to spend £25m on players after the signings already made this summer, which would add 25m worth of wages as well. Like others have said could see a keeper coming in as atm that seems the only position where their isn’t clear competition, unless HWR is much further along in his progression then assumed. Might see another midfielder as well depending on how much Nige and his team want/think King will feature this season. Don’t think their will be anymore then that tho, maybe a loan CB with Atkinson injured but I doubt it.
  5. I assume if we don’t sell, he will sign a new contract with this kind of clause.
  6. The only one coming out of this well is Gary tbf. Can easily see him managing in the prem again this coming season with the amount of sackings their are mid season. Either way I think sacking him is ludicrous. Would’ve built a good rapport with the team and I’d imagine the dressing room would all be behind him since he’s kept em up. Should’ve at least been given the start of the season. Especially with how weak the prem looks next year.
  7. Bernardo Silva also rumoured to leave as well. And KDB is in his thirties. If we kept him this window and he performed as well/better then he has so far I could easily see Man City coming in for him next season. Think they have to many proven first team players to replace for him to be a priority rn tho.
  8. From what I’ve heard, which tbf isn’t 100% reputable, Scott will 100% get a bid of £25m. It’s not clubs saying for £25m is he worth that? It’s clearly their managers/directors of football saying should we sign this youngster for £25m who will be good but not as good as we need right away. Or another player for 35-40 who will most likely come straight into the team to do a job. Adding to that the amount of quality midfielders moving this window is a little mad, most teams are looking for their 1st name on team sheet midfielder which Alex won’t be straight away for most prem clubs. Once those deals have been sorted, the teams with money to spend will come in for him. 100%.
  9. Agreed. Some seem to think no matter then Scott situation we were going to spend 10s of millions to get playoffs because the books are finally balanced (ish). Which is just stupid. Think if we are keeping Alex then just Jason Knight is fine. Some think we need a striker but with Conway and wells who both put up decent numbers last season and Weimman who got 20+ the season before I don’t think it’s necessary. The only other thing I would like is a keeper, as much as I like max I think he needs some serious 1st team competition which I don’t see either HWR or Bajic giving.
  10. According to TransferMarkt, which can be a bit dodgy with player values but still, Alex is the most valuable player in the championship. (Discounting the relegated prem teams.) Still very early in the window but I think we will get offers that match or are over our valuation by the time the window ends.
  11. He gets 26 goals in all comps next year. Scores a hat-trick to go from 0-2 to 3-2 against Leeds away and scores a screamer against Watford. Sorry for the spoilers ?
  12. It was leaked on Twitter before he said that I’m pretty sure. And if it wasn’t before hand it was within like 10mins of it
  13. 100%, I’m trying to convince myself as much as you mate ?
  14. Not necessarily. If we count players who can play there our midfield consists of: James, King, Williams, Naismith, Scott, OTC, Benarous and Mccrorie. 1. Benarous is still recovering from injury. 2. OTC isn’t at the level yet (at least imo) 3. Mccrorie might be playing a number of positions next season 4. Williams whilst decent, imo, is a midfield version of Baker at times with injuries. 5. Whilst all decent James, King and Naismith are all 30+, king quite clearly being slowly fazed out of first team football. See it more as refreshing our midfield with young ambitious talent that can learn a lot from James and king. According to a lot of derby fans he’s best as a box to box much like Brownhill. Not saying Alex Scott is staying but to me I think Pearson and co would’ve been in for Knight either way.
  15. Btw @Davefevs are you sure you don’t work for the Bristol City scouting department. Feels very Jekyll & Hyde this. OTIB poster by day, BCFC chief scout by night.
  16. Joe Williams is what he is. A championship midfielder. Nothing special and isn’t a tool. Might have bad games fair but so does everyone. Obviously injuries have plagued his tenure but for me when he’s been on the pitch he does the job.
  17. As you know the financials relatively well Dave, do you think we now move on to trading (selling players to raise funds for new ones) or do we still have the assets to move without having to sell?
  18. Think a lot of people confuse not bothering and exhaustion/overworking
  19. Has a strike on him as well by the looks of it.
  20. Agree 100%, at first thought this may be our last opportunity to get decent money for him. But In saying that it seems unneeded with Scott likely to go for big money and many other higher value assests
  21. Would think we are or will be trying to tie down Vyner for longer before the window ends. And hoping we hear renewal talks for pringy around the same time in next season as we did Atkinson’s this season. The one I’m most interested about is Weimann. I know he’s a bit like marmite on this forum especially this season some love him some don’t think he’s good enough. But he’s only got a year left and he’s 32 in august. With Bell, Conway, Cornick and Wells we have cover. He’s one of our players I could see potentially moving on this summer but I hope he does stay.
  22. It depends if you count teams coming down from the prem. If you do he’s around the top ten, but personally I don’t think they should count. If you don’t and he goes for any amount between 25-30 he’s 4th highest championship departure fee. 1st: Joao Pedro - €34,200,000 2nd: Ollie Watkins - €34,000,000 3rd: Jude Bellingham - €30,150,000 4th: Alex Scott - €25-30,000,000 5th: James Maddison- €25,000,000 (Fees according to TransferMarkt)
