The Dutch league only called it because their government banned any professional sport until September, we haven't
Yes again money driven, Dutch government has taken the view to protect people’s lives.
Why are the premiership/championship so desperate to restart, it’s not for players safety is it.

Hands were tied by their government, interesting call on their choice of finishing though seems they've picked and chosen their preferred things, no champions but the top 2 will go into the champions league so they have kept the season to account to some degree. So over here, Liverpool not champs, but champions league with Man City (provisionally), Leicester and Chelsea. Imagine telling Leeds fans they'd finish top of the table but not go up
It shows it is possible though, it’s way too money driven here.

It’s good to see a chairman talking with some common sense. Yet Ashton wants pats on the back for rich players deferring wages for 3 months.

One to chuck into the mix though I appreciate it will be highly unlikely. With a 27000 seater stadium we could limit the actual attendance to something like 3000-5000. That would mean each supporter could have 2-3 seats from the next one. Obviously you still have to enter exit the stadium but going to the shops you are still near to people. As I said highly unlikely but a very small possibility.
Are people really that desperate to watch football?

With social distancing likely remaining in place until the end of the year I assume the best we can hope for is next season might be televised behind closed doors.
I imagine it will be the Prem and EFL clubs only, though it may only be the Prem or possibly nothing at all. Depressing.
I don’t think it’s possible to continue behind closed doors, clubs won’t be able to pay wages etc even more the smaller clubs.

national league now cancelled this season for good.
When are the “big boys” going to do the right thing and stop being money driven.

Without clear guidance from either the EFL or the players union, clubs and players are in limbo.
Don't honour the contract you agreed and an asset on your balance sheet worth millions can suddenly walk away for nothing might be part of the challenge for clubs.
I’m amazed the players think they have a big say in all of this, football won’t be the same when it resumes.
The premier league etc are just desperate for it to restart on money grounds, nothing else.

Where is this reported ?
The Netherlands have extended a ban on major public events, including professional sports and music festivals, by three months, until Sept 1st.

Two completely different things. The post you quoted was referring to the club.
You won't find grossly overpaid footballers at our club, not everyone is on a top end prem salary
Surely you don’t think 20k plus for Kalas a week isn’t grossly overpaid?
-
Everyone saying clubs folding etc, maybe if the tv Money still existed in some form and players were actually paid a “normal” wage like the “olden days” then clubs would be able to continue.
Where is kalas going to be able to be paid 20k+ a week if he’s not a footballer etc? Maybe this might knock some reality into it all

Hi Jerry,
I hope you and the family are well, I have tagged you in twice into the CV19 thread but I’m guessing you haven’t seen it.
Seeing as Steve has come out and said the club are gearing up to play behinds closed doors etc , what are the clubs plans going forward for current season ticket holders?
refund on existing games,
given the right to watch it for free
etc
What is the likelihood on refunds if next season doesn’t kick off within a sensible time period etc, or even refunds for people who no longer feel it is safe for them to leave the house into mass gatherings?
Personally I don’t think we will have anybody at the gate for a good while eg a year onwards etc.
thanks

The Millennium Stadium is being used as a field hospital currently. I don’t think it will be used for anything else any time soon.!
You think that would put it into perspective for people that we won’t be playing football any time soon.....

Do we actually know if any/many healthy people are dying? Not sure we know much for sure at the moment.
Anyone said to have died with any underlying conditions could well have the word ‘known’ added before underlying to add accuracy
The young lad from Birmingham? He had no known underlying health to the families knowledge, there was the teenager in Belgium I think too. Those are just the ones that made the news.

I wouldn't bet on there being a 2020/21 season at all, if I'm honest. If you mean "next" as in could be in 2 or 3 years time though then fair enough
Someone else who has a bit of common sense. There’s no way football is going to be being played with fans this year and probably well into next.

How do the club go about refunding people for the 5 remaining games that won't happen this season
I imagine they will quietly ignore the matter and hope no one brings it up.
@JerrySLO what are the clubs plans for refunds if the games don’t go ahead?
-
People need to take a long look at themselves if they think football is anywhere near getting back to being played.
i wouldn’t be surprised if there is no football this year, even behind closed doors.

Obviously total Fake News from the Daily Fail.......they've included a photo that states that "THIS GROUND IS A MEMORIAL". Of course, we all remember when the Pikeys were trying to flog the Mem off they were insistent that it's only the gates that are a memorial to the fallen. Couldn't have picked a better photo to slot into a national paper myself
That’s one thing they have never been able to explain, how are the gates a memorial when the clearly states it’s the ground.

I believe the correct name for them is “guide ropes”
If you are trying to be “funny”, and failing like normal, if it’s in reference to tents they are guy ropes not guide.

I wouldn't knock anyone at any club for not renewing a season ticket at the moment.
Why? Most people are still employed, football will happen again.
Or did Rovers release their season ticket the day covid starting hitting here?

Let’s be honest, I doubt it will ever be the same again.
WHO saying you might be able to catch covid again, if that’s the case nothing will be “normal” again until a vaccine is found.
