I thought it might be more to do with the travelling to and from games, but we are all speculating because the government choose to just arbitrarily impose things without explanation. Their current thinking seems to be that the virus only operates between the hours of 10pm and 6am, presumably after watching the film Gremlins? so that should have no effect on football at all!
As if they told everyone to stay in all the time people would moan more,
People seem to have no common sense in this country.
Its clear they obviously don’t think that.

They already made it clear from day one, that it’s economy and NHS over people’s lives, but then tried to hide it with “we are following the science”. But I’m gonna step away from this debate now, as I’ll end up going off on one.
I think I would agree with you on it all!

Without getting into politics, it’s bonkers. The logic of one thing being allowed over another is influenced by the wrong factors. You get BS that education is so important, then you open pubs ahead of it.
The problem is, the country needs money and I also believe that it will get to a point where there will be a happy medium with people dying as long as it isn’t overly infectious and the NHS isn’t about to topple over.
Pubs etc generate a lot of money for the government, people going to see Bath City play let’s be honest wont be a lot.

Did anyone really think this would happen. I dont think fans will be back this season.
I didn’t , I can’t remember the poster but there was one on here who was adamant we would be back to full crowds by now as his missus works at south mead and covid was gone etc.
I genuinely believe we won’t see crowds at Ashton gate for a good couple of years.

well, this government didn't think there was any risk for 1000s of people to attend Cheltenham
As they wanted us all to catch it at that stage

Why if you are a key worker who had to go work every day as normal all over the covid time it shouldn't matter what that job was you where still risking your life,
I work in a supermarket distribution center that makes me a key worker, where I work covid killed one and hospitalised many some who are still not well enough to work, no one clapping us for keeping everyone from going hungry,
If city did key worker then all key worker should be treated the same
Hang on a second, loads of people have worked throughout this key worker or not.
I personally think the key worker bit can be taken out of context.
Are you more important than myself even though I’ve worked through all of this too?

Perhaps if there are Key Workers among our ST base they should get first dibs on the initial return
Most of the country could be classed as key workers according to the government documentation on it.

In Scotland Aberdeen v Kilmarnock had a Test event- 300.
Are people really that desperate to watch football they want to view it sat like that?

As per the whole process all along, the testing of football staff has NO impact on the NHS and is completely separate
Is it though? Again it’s corporate greed and money talks, just as the wealthy can get tests done whenever they want the lab space taken up by sports people should be used for the benefit of normal people.

How's the Fruit Market going? We haven't heard a lot about that of late.
Ask @Spoons he’s the one taking bets on it happening....

It’s a logistical nightmare to implement social distancing at a football match. Even with gaps between each seat there’d still be those sat behind and below you
It would safer if everyone wore masks throughout the entire match day experience and not just when using the toilets.
Have you got any proof that it is safer for people to wear masks?
Top Dutch scientists have stated they see no benefits with masks and could do more harm than good.
Unless everyone wears kn95 or FFP3 masks etc.

Did I say that? But do people realistically see the FA/PL propping under the entire football league/semi pro levels of non-league? The question is at what level do you draw the line for the requirement of testing players?
No, hence they go bust. Loads of people are losing their jobs, over paid footballers shouldn’t be exempt from it.

Somethings got to happen, league 1 and 2 won't be able to afford twice weekly testing of players/staff for a whole season and probably some champ clubs won't be able to afford it either, all non-league won't be tested so does football continue and accept players could well catch it or does everything shut down again knowing clubs will go under?
Let’s cripple the nhs and kill people off so football can survive.

Why are people so fussed about going to football when it’s clear the virus isnt going away.
@glos old boy wondered why you put laughing emoji, I meant it isn’t going away not that it is!

He or, actually, it may have been JL said playoffs were the expectation.
After spending record money, and finishing potentially below last year, I think he's a dead man walking.
He's also lost the fans. I've been a firm supporter of his, but, even I'm not interested now.
Expectation isn’t the same as coming out saying he’s gone if there isn’t play offs.
People fail targets in their jobs all the time.

This the the game that's secured Lee's departure. Not because it's been bad tonight, but SL made it pretty clear that it was playoff of he's gone.
Interesting to see who we will bring in.
When did he say that?

Rumours that I’ve seen are . A consortium buying the fruit market land . Building a stadium and housing but not having a stake in the football club.
if this is true then they’d be back to being rent boys and depending on the lease agreement , it could end up back to a eastville scenario or a Coventry
We (Bristol city) pay rent to pay at Ashton Gate.
We (Bristol city) do not own Ashton gate and haven’t for a long long time.

Do most on here now believe, along with me, that we will be back in the ground for the start of next season? Think it is significant that they have said they want everyone back in school by the start of the new school year so that would coincide with next season starting. All makes sense to me.
Children have to go to school, we don’t have to go to football.

Bristol city football club have to pay rent to play at Ashton gate. They have done for many many years, years before the rugby moved in.
