Make sure you move those goalposts by bending your knees. There’s so many I’m worried you will put your back out

    Never changed that.

Been in my posts for a ‘very’ long time feel free to go back and read them.

10 seems about right to me.

    Required goal return -

    2- 4 Centre back/Full back

    4 - 6 midfielder

     6 - 8 winger

    10+ Striker

    *Championship goals

    Looks about right to me.

He’s got 2 so far (been injured)

He should get plenty of game time and opportunities to get 10 this season.

    £20m Strikers don’t get 8 goals a season… they are wingers

  2. Went to the game.

Great memories of a great day out.

Martin Scott was a great player and up there with best full backs we have had.

Also Junior Bent one of my favourite City players.

Remember Jackie playing and everyone doing the ‘Jackanoski’

We were all packed in at the side of pitch.

Allison got the winner if I recall.

I taped it and watched about 3 times on the trot when I got home.

Also coming out to all the Derby fans wishing us all the best for the season with everything they could pick up and throw at us.

    The Good old ‘Away’ days…

Ghana's 3 group games are as follows. Times are GMT.

We play Watford at home on 12 November, then our next game is Rotherham away on 10 December. I guess he might get a rest against Rotherham, but this shouldn't affect our season unless Ghana progress.

    markup_24866.png

    That is a tough group.

For us hopefully back asap and having Rotherham is probably the best game for him to get a rest.

Depends how much game time he gets likely to start from the bench to start with and then depends how they and he gets on.

  4. Towards the end of the window pretty much everyone said (including me) said we needed at least 3 singing - Midfielder, Striker & centre back.

We all know we got none of them but also we never let anyone go and it can be said we had a decent window.

On reflection and looking at the team of players  - Not in the first 11 it does show just how good our squad is.

    Example ‘reserve’ team -

Seymenyo and Williams could be replaced by James and Conway.

                          Bajic

    Tanner.    Kalas     Klose     Pring

       King      Williams   Massengo

    Seymneyo    Martin        Wilson

Circa 5 of the above could easily be in our first team which means when all fit we have the strongest bench I can remember.

Nige and his team have done an excellent job bringing in Conway,  Sykes and Naismith into the first team as well as bringing Nakhi back.

Maybe with injuries we will need some strengthening in January but at the moment we look very well balanced and well placed to have a good run up to January.

The team also looks much tighter as a group and everyone is giving everything for themselves and the team.

And who knows maybe also a cup run as we have the squad to make 5 or 6 changes without weakening the team.

We are playing good football, have a strong squad and also a great team spirit.

Long way to go but we could have a very good season.

    Not someone else who agrees

I say someone I mean the whole country of Ghana…..

    ?

‘Semenyo’s a winger they score goals….  But Less than 10 a season or he will be a ‘Striker’ who scored goals.

@Better Redboth…I’d happily pair Conway and Semenyo as my centre forwards / strikers.  I’m a great believer in striker partnerships.

I see both as very good making in to out runs.  Play Antoine as a wide forward and you cut down his influence to only when the ball is on that side.

I knew you would say ‘both’

    How did I guess that.

Maybe , just maybe because you actually agree.

And that is ok to say it.

I have already said he proved me wrong and ‘can’ score at this level he is a great player for us.

If we play a back 5 and we do we can only have 3 front players as we need 2 midfielders.

If the 3 are - Conway, Seymenyo and Wieman (my best 3)

Front 3  - who plays through the middle Semenyo or Conway - there is ‘no wrong answer’ it’s just an opinion.

  7. Everyone disagrees when I say Seymenyo is best wide in a 3

But when I ask who you would play through the middle in a front 3 ?

Everyone seems to says they would play Conway through the middle and Seymenyo ‘Wide in the front Three’ I think that what they are saying.

It feels like we all sort of agree and yet I am the only one who is able to state  it ‘ clearly’ as my opinion.

Its not questioning his ability he is an excellent player - I am sure we all agree with that.

    Just opinion after all.

We will able to see where Nige plays him as he is hopefully fit to start in the next 2 or 3 games.

Seymenyo is a Wide player in a front three who scores goals….

    Totally agree

He likes to ‘roam’ , you certainly don’t want to restrict him

    No different from Weimann really

You could play a flat front three with

Antoine / Tommy / Andi and have Antoine and Andi constantly making out to in diagonal runs around Conways movement - it could be devastating

    But why change what’s working

Antoine / Conway , Antoine / Martin , Antoine / Wells , with Andi bursting from behind all sound decent to me !

So you would put Seymenyo out wide as well.

I think you are saying Seymeny

    Simple question not loaded.

    Front 3  -

who would play down the middle Conway or Seymenyo ?

    No right or wrong answer.

    Its only an opinion.

I have said Conway because all my comments above.

    Based on what evidence?

The evidence of a season split between Holden and Pearson, when he played mainly as a wide-forward, and where you formed the opinion he’s not a striker.  That’s quite convenient…especially as since his return to the team post-injury last December he’s played as a central striker and done incredibly well (that’s not just my view but professional football’s view) and looked every bit a central striker.  You’re still not sure though.  Come on, swallow your pride “just, maybe”….just say yes he is. ???

What evidence ? Watching him play is the main one.

Its not convenient that’s what I saw - maybe Holden & Pearson do as well.

A wide forward if you won’t to use that term  - Deff Yes and Deff top end of the Championship - Deff yes

In my opinion he is more effective for us and will be through out his  career playing wide of the main Striker.

I am not saying he is not a good player ( read my comments from way back always have said I like him)

Lets see what happens and see if he plays through the middle now he is fit.

2 questions that was posed from my post

1 - Can he score goals at this level ? I questioned that and clearly he can.

2 - Is he a main Striker through the middle - I said No and I still say the same. Is he closer today than when I posted the comment? clearly.

I stand by the comment at the time and he’s goal scoring record stands up to that comment at the time like it or not.

Can he play as a main Striker ?

He’s only problem is Conway at the moment is looking like a ‘ Striker who can score goals and ‘play through the middle - And wow by the way who thought we would be saying that ( unless someone wants to disagree…)

Will my opinion change ? Sure it well as the players improve or go backwards.

Can I be wrong - Sure like everyone else game of opinions.

So back to the question can he play through the - Yes

The real question is will he (that’s the test - if managers believe if can he will)

My opinion is he will be the wide player not the player through the middle.

So have I changed my mind about the position- No

Have I changed my opinion about will he score goals - yes

so is he a Striker - still maybe

Big Question ? It’s tough one.

Both fully fit who’s would you play through the middle - Conway (started less than 10 Championship games). Or Seymenyo ?

    Don’t say both….

I know who I will pick.

Someone might have upgraded him to 'impact sub'.

I said when he scores 10 Championship goals in a season I will change the title to ‘is a striker’

In all fairness he is pretty much there.

I still think he is better as wide in a front three.

Can he play down the middle - still not sure (yet)

Does he need there - probably not.

Is he Championship level- Deff yes and could play for the top 6 easily.

His pace power and strength make a real diff to this team and the success we will have this year.

I just hope we hold onto him In the window.

Has he proved me wrong - Yes has done amazingly well.

Is he a Striker - Just maybe.

Ok so you have now confirmed you a wind up merchant. You have read a statement of intent from the club's official website, and deliberately decided to misinterpret it and twist it to match your agenda.

And don't ******* quote me as if I am some kind of disciple.

You need some of this to sort you out.

    All I did was -

Read it using a skill I picked up at School.

After reading it I formed an opinion using some skills called ‘thinking’

After reading it I expressed my opinion in writing again another skill I picked up at School.

Or I could have copied a picture and use some words I have heard the grown up use…..

I know it can be difficult but why not try to use the skills of reading, thinking and writing.

Honestly it will make you feel better.

  13. Just hope we hold on to him.

How long have we waited for a player like him to come along from the academy.

He has come on so much this season and looks like the real deal.

Defiantly has an eye for goal.

Also has a good touch and has got decent pace.

Then just like a bus (not in Bristol) we get three come along at once.

I just hope we can make the most of them while they are here.

I never thought I would say it I would let Scott go out of the three.

One or two additions to this team and we have a real chance to get into that top six I just don’t think we have the money there to do it.

So on the one hand we have the club themselves, players and coaches up and down the land at various levels and fans who know the score.

On the other we have Belter Red.

    Hmmm....

And Port Said Red he agrees now…..

    Its Better Red.

Again it’s not about the validity of the Academy it’s about what players have truest come via it and can be classed as a success

Thanks for quote - just confirms with what i said.

Key word was ‘their’ as in Bristol City FC

And their now means ‘Championship’ level.

Glad you agree with me now.

Also I notice you won’t answer the question re O’Leary - I take it  you agree with that as well.

So what we arguing about ?

They are professional footballers, that is the aim of the academy, to help players become professionals and have a career. It's not your criteria so thank **** you don't run the academy..

The academy’s objective is not to ‘ produce professional players’ that do not benefit this football club.

They will except that some players will make it with other clubs thats is a buy product of running it.

Its about producing players to be good enough to play at this club and at the moment ‘Championship’ standard or above as the level we are at.

To be clear - I am not against the academy far from it.

I am just pointing out that when we say players that have come through the academy let’s actually mean it.

O’Leary yes goal keepers are diff   you have to another on the bench even if they won’t play just in case. they will always get games as a back up and yes he has played at Championship level but and here is the big but - I don’t think he is good enough to be a No1 at this level so I don’t think we have produced a Championship standard goal keeper so I don’t think he is a success for this club. We could just have signed another keeper on a free just to sit on the bench.

    It’s a game of opinions.

Do you think O’Leary is No1 level in the championship?

  17. You are a City fan.

Its in your heart for good or for bad.

it’s not about how many games you go to, if you have the kit or if you go home and away.

Its inside you and will never leave you despite the times you think why do I bother.

Its the excitement weather you are there, watching on the TV or listening to the radio.

Or going for that walk for the last 5 mins when you just can’t watch or listen because it just might change the result.

Its how it will lift up or down your weekend depending on the result.

Its the highs, the lows the middle table safety. The new away kit, the new signing and it’s about the OTIB community.

its much, much  more than just watching the games - Its your club and you love it.

    So don’t feel guilty.
