Not bothered by being that low with the bookies after all I don’t suppose Coventry or Luton were that high this time last year.

    But below Cardiff and Birmingham??

    Definitely top half for me.

Coventry and Luton were both around 25/1 last season, around 8th in the betting.

No, but they don't need it to built it

They can get it retrospectively, or get it refused and that would be entertaining

I think it will be just as entertaining when/if it is up, as it will be generally cheap and pretty poor to anyone outside of their bubble. The concourse will be quality to see, as I get the impression they are expecting to see a proper concourse (since quite a few go to Ashton Gate for the Rugby, Concerts and been down for their Vaccines) I cannot wait for their reports, I just have a niggling feeling they be just a little bit disappointed.

    Bring it on.

That’s the Gas got a nice away trip to Carlisle, hopefully on a cold wet winter’s night.

Great away day on a weekend and stay in Newcastle, I was up there when JET got a perfect hat-trick which must have been about 10-12 years ago.

I will be talking ‘shite’ when he scores 10 goals in a season.

Surely not to much to ask for a ‘Striker’….

So you are not talking shite if he gets 9, but you are talking shite if he gets 10?

Out of curiosity, why is he called a striker by you if he gets 10 goals in one season but he isn't if he gets 9? He would have got 10+ this season if he didn't get transferred but I guess that doesn't suit.

If we use your metric is say Mo Eisa more of a striker than Semenyo, and also more of a striker than Alvarez for Man City (if he doesn't score today he will only have 9 for the season)?

The question I'd ask you if why you need these adverts? No one is proposing bans on gambling, or fast food or drinks etc, just making it less prevalent. All of these things are hugely addictive and very hard to stop. You are clearly an advocate of personal responsibility though, so if I was an alcoholic, and decided today to kick the booze, I imagine you'd support that. After all it would make me a more productive member of society, and lessen my chances of serious health consequences. Both of which would at least and indirect benefit to you as a tax payer. Why would you want to make my journey harder by having adverts everywhere, tempting me back?

If you like to drink, and you drink responsibly, you will still drink if you've been advertised to or not. Same if you like to gamble, or have fast food. However, if you are an addict, these adverts can easily overwhelm you back into a spiral.

Some people are shopping addicts, should we ban all advertising on anyone trying to sell anything in case someone adds it onto their credit card, overdraft or spend their weekly shop money? Sounds ridiculous, but where does the line get drawn.

If you were a recovering alcoholic then it is down to you and you only to stay away from the booze, if an advert is going to tempt you, it is still down to yourself to not go back. Are you never going to go into a Supermarket or shop and look at a can or a bottle again, or should the alcohol not be on display?

I used to smoke for about 15 years, and kicked it. Was it easy, hell no, but I wouldn't blame an advert for B&H if I went back to it. My mate was an alcoholic for years and kicked it, he wouldn't want anything banned regarding alcohol as he knows it is up to himself to stay away from it, but he wouldn't want any advert banned.

It was a masterclass in how not to see a game out. Wednesday seemed to want the ball so much more. Neither team showed too much patience or quality, and P'boros hold up play at a time it was vital, was non existent .

I couldn't understand why they just seemed to wanted to kick it as far as they could and hope they would hang on, and that last clearance was one of the worst you'll see. They got what they deserved in the end.

The Wednesday fan who tore up his ticket for clicks on social media must be feeling stupid now.

Brilliant, what an absolute belter. He will surely never live that down now, and no doubt he will be showing up to the final (being a proper fan)...

I will chuck Derby in the pot too , that not worked out has it chucking money at it , very nearly disastrous consequences

I don't think you are meant to mention clubs that have failed when they have thrown money at it, or mention clubs that were doing better than us, who have then got themselves in a terrible mess by throwing money at it, and even got relegated - these clubs simply don't count when it comes to comparisons with us and Lansdown.

This argument only works one way when it comes to "Lansdown needs to go" or "Lansdown is clueless". You need to find a club that has done exceptionally well (one who has done a lot better than us), so someone like Brighton, and then simply claim we should be them because they have done it, but you CANNOT mention Reading, Wigan, Bolton, Derby etc etc.

    That's the rules on here....

The most league minutes he's ever played in a season is 3,500 - 84% of the maximum possible.

So based on past performance he's not an every minute player, and so is unlikely to achieve that maximum. Maybe he plays 85% and gets 6 goals. That's obviously great, but is unlikely to solve all our issues (remember that in doing that he is replacing someone else - maybe Mehmeti or Bell, so it's not a pure net gain of +6 goals).

Is he meant to be coming in to solve all of our problems as I am not sure anyone is actually saying that?

What if he comes and assists a fair few goals, what if he helps Pring create more assists with link up play, what if he helps cover Pring and we concede less goals, what if he helps improve a few youngsters as well.

He's a good player, he's a great Bristolian, and I would/will welcome him home with open arms, but he's not a goalscorer and although he could chip in with 2 or 3, he's not the 5-10 goal midfielder we might be looking for.

    2 hours ago, ExiledAjax said:

So assuming he played every minute of a Championship season at LM that predicts 7 goals. 7 would be nice I grant you, but is that playing condition going to be fulfilled? Mehmeti and Bell would be angry.

I'm lost, you say he isn't a 5-10 goalscorer we are looking for but in the same post predicts he will get 7?

Thanks for posting this and I'm no lawyer but FFS there is no way xG would hold water in any court as an argument to get any level of compensation let alone 110 Million Euro.

I guess the opposition would simply pull up 100s or thousands of games where xG has been wrong and say you have no evidence whatsoever that holds water. If that is their defence then they really are taking the pee, or the lawyers are taking the pee out of them. This will cost them massively in the long run, and deservedly so.

Am I right in saying their new construction will include a concourse for outlets? Probably unlikely to contain a pet shop then, cos judging by those pictures it doesn't look like there's enough room to swing a cat...?

A few pop up wallpaper pasting tables with a tablecloth on, and jobs a good 'un.

Has the state of the art disabled section in the South Stand been taken down yet?

    Untitled123.png

Behind this were a couple of portaloo's for the away fans and without doubt the worst smell you could ever smell at a football ground, in the same bracket as the Bristol Waste site by the fruit market, I shit you not. ?

They will claim that is the equivalent of an American Basketball sought after "courtside" seat...

  14. How has Lee Hendrie got a job with Sky (or anyone for that matter)?

Goes over to his game at the start of play and he says "They have literally just kicked off" the tv screen then goes over to the actual game and a huge 1 min 25 seconds on the clock and then he says "It's end to end here Jeff".

Over to him again "It looks like this goal is going to be chalked off", goes over to the game and they show a replay and the scorer doesn't even celebrate as the flag is up and knows he was offside.

One can never get tired of these things!

The Sags had their annual Dean Windass get together last night. Holloway was there this time for the cock tugging fest.

What was this? Only asking as a load would have went to a funeral yesterday in Rovers shirts so it could well have been the wake (up the Legion in Kingswood after the funeral)

Good answer, don't forget I have been hearing things will be better next season for over 50 years Harry Dolman came out with that at the end of every season a bit like next year Rodney we'll be millionaires, the thing that has disappointed me the most is the defence, for a manager that was himself a defender we don't half make some mistakes, yes injuries have not helped but sometimes it has looked like the players had been introduced to each other just before the game, let's see what happens next season I hope your confidence is rewarded and we do indeed progress but as in the past just as we get a half decent side together other usually parachute payment clubs come along and pluck our players away Webster, Brownhill, Kelly, Semenyo, I could go on but you get the picture, my post was mostly about how disappointed I was in the season just gone for many reasons including all the injuries upheaval etc maybe I'm just too optimistic (don't laugh).

Again, I am unsure what 50 years ago has to do with what is happening now.

Disappointed with the defence, Atkinson is just in his second season at this level, Kalas was a huge miss alongside him? Naismith a new signing playing there, Vyner was written off by the majority and has been superb overall, Pring has improved massively and also looks superb. Yes there has been mistakes (what team doesn't make them), but to think with the players available at the start of the season and throughout the season we should be doing better is a bit naïve imo, or you have some sort of agenda. I would think if you have been going for 55 years you would have a bit more reasoning to what has happened.

You think we should have kept Webster, Brownhill, Kelly and Semenyo, and I'm guessing Scott as well now? As for parachute payment clubs plucking our best players, isn't that exactly what we do when we sign players from lower leagues, should we be stopped from doing that? I'm afraid that is how football works.

I'll leave it there as this thread has been taken over. I hope you aren't as disappointed next season.
