So no surprise that Sheffield United went in front - yet again far far too easy playing the ball in behind our midfield and wingbacks, as the abysmal Bakinson, fresh from a new contract extension, offered no press and the easy square ball from Stevens to Brewster allowed the latter to swivel and slam home.

Not sure why you singled out Bakinson for the goal, would have been slightly more objective to pick up on Kallas & Bakers horrendous positioning su1.JPG.a26caae5925c2243619a6f689b11f223.JPGsu2.JPG.e77700adea70ba3e307e97e55b393b00.JPGsu3.JPG.9537ddcbf8e7180f2d07ceb109e3ea6f.JPG

  2. Well this thread was as predictable as Billy Sharp scoring against us, usual suspects cant wait to say look mummy I was right Bakinson had a poor game as the latest jump on the bandwagon scapegoat.

I will agree he had a poor game, but to be singled out when we had due to injuries our youngest most inexperienced midfield playing against ex prem players, where our whole midfield was very poor just about sums up OTIB

    I can understand your frustration..

FACT>>> Lansdown has been clear it's his club, he decides the strategy and we're just customers.

FACT..... He employs a highly experienced manager and very well thought of CEO to run the club day to day.

Sounds like quite a few on here are customers, with quotes like not paying my money to watch this, glad I did not buy a season ticket

According to the guy who sits behind me, KP lived in Keynsham but has just moved to Saltford.

I know a while ago he was living and his wife wanted to stay in Swansea where there baby was born, of course his family home could be in Swansea and KP has a pad he lives in during the week or they may have relocated back to Bristol now with a Swansea move not on the cards

Think it’s fine to be critical when any player isn’t playing well, as long as you recognise when they are playing well.

No problem at all with people moaning or criticising a player when poor or making mistakes.

I don't like the scapegoating of a player, only highlighting his errors when others have been worse or having to keep on that a player is poor to try and justify previous statements

Paterson now has 8 goals in the league this season, that’s 6 fewer than Palmer has scored in his entire career.

    But he’s a “one good game in 10” player, isn’t he? ?

I think it was fairly clear KP wanted to stay at Swansea and believe he still lives there, wonder if the signing of Pato effectively scuppered any chance of KP getting his move? seems to be working out well for the swans

He needs to be ‘near’ Williams and James as they are the current bench mark.

Agree both not fit enough that’s why we need to get one more midfielder who can compete with those two.

    Can he compete - No.

    Can he improve - No.

Watched enough of him to know he does not come up to scratch and he never will.

Simple if he plays are we weaker ? - Yes

League 1 player - get rid

He is a different type of player to Williams and James and already as good or maybe better than either of them at picking a pass or moving the ball off quickly with his 1st touch as his awareness is fantastic. Its also why he gives the ball away more as he is the one trying to hit the forward pass of the quick ball, rather than just a safe sidewards or back.

I have never moaned about TB even when the has poor games as can see a future very good player, he has recognised himself he needs to improve certain aspects of his game and still has a way to go to realise his potential. Just a shame a few who have liked to scapegoat him and Odowda have to keep on talking sh1t even when they are playing well

Just gone through a random sample of defensive corners all the way back to QPR.  All 10 outfield players back, every corner….typically 4 lined across the 6 yard line….the other 6 blockers and markers.

Out of interest, have we conceded any from a corner this season?  None.  If you count O’Hare’s (Cov) from a header to the edge of the box, then it’s one.  The average goals conceded per corner is 2.25 per team.

So much as most of us old-schoolers would prefer a player left upfield, there is a strong argument in the numbers to suggest having every man back is better.

I also went through every goal conceded to see if they stemmed from a cleared corner that subsequently came back.  There were none.

It bucks our traditional thinking undoubtedly, but maybe we are the ones who need to change???

(For info, last season the average across the whole of the season was 6.67 goals conceded from corners per team….so about 3 times the average so far).  If our new way of defending saves us 3 / 4 goals per season, that’s worth doing)

Interesting, it always winds me up that we have everyone back, as the ball is cleared and immediately puts you back under pressure and no chance of a breakaway goal. So good to know I need to change my view point.

  9. Where you neglected as a child, perhaps ignored in the workplace or banished to the garden shed at home.

Just trying to understand the constant needy attenstion seeking posts.

But will add don't think you are making many friends or influencing people, but perhaps just a good wind up.

Bakinson definitely played better than Massengo v Cov, but (not really a but) we played a 4141 which suited him.

Id happily see that system again.

                                Bentley

               Kalas | Baker | Atkinson | Pring

                              Bakinson

    Weimann | Williams | Massengo | O’Dowda

                                 Martin

    Something like this ⬆️⬆️⬆️

Swap Weimann for Martin and put in Semenyo and I would be happy

I read that article I don’t get the feeling of wanting the Lansdown’s to sell up. So many of the clubs mentioned with foreign owners who have come in with supposed unlimited wealth and delivered nothing but massive debt on the clubs.

SL has made some bad appointments and we are crying out for a director of football to work with the COO to agree a business and football plan and then just let them get on with it.

i believe SL is a City fan and looking to do the best for the club. He would of sold up ages ago otherwise. He’s a retired  billionaire ffs.

If some other billionaire comes in or some investment group with hidden backing that we’ll never know anything about take over then the risk of things going further tits up increases. Just look at the other takeovers of other clubs in this division. How many have got to the prem and established themselves without then coming back down after a couple of seasons and ended up with massive debts. Cardiff, Swansea, Reading, Hull, Sheff Utd

Felt the same, all the article did was to reinforce the likelihood of being owned by some anonymous just got rich Chinese merchant as a status symbol or a bunch of investors hoping to chuck some money and get to the premier league promise land and when that does not work looking how to exit and sell on.

It would seem that 10 million a year losses are low to average for a championship team, so with approx 25 games at home depending on cups, with lets say 17,000 home fans per game, if they all pay an extra £23.50 each per game then that will cover the losses, or how much each game you attend (if losses were only £10m) are being subsidised by the owners. Of course a few will try to say SL is going to make money out of this and cover all the money he has put in, but its easy to write what ever you want on a forum and pass off as fact without the slightest bit of evidence to back it up or true in depth knowledge.

Here is the article from The Athletic:

If there is one club that is forever called "Sleeping Giants" it is Bristol City. Peter Goldthorne of The Athletic examines the legitimacy of this claim:

I have reached the conclusion that it is grossly unfair to label Bristol City as "Sleeping Giants" for even those of gargantuan stature that are asleep do at times awake and then rightly adopt the mantle of giants. In Bristol City's case they remain constantly asleep. Medical opinion is unanimous in cases of giants being asleep for 41 years plus that they are not actually sleeping at all but are either deceased or in a comatose state from which they are unlikely to arise. Thus I feel Bristol City should be called "Comatose Giants" as if prodded, unlike those that are dead, they do exhibit signs of life (unless it's approaching the 90th minute or beyond in a game).

The Athletic believes that although comatose so not strictly dead that owner Steve Lansdown should try and return the club back to the shop in Bolton from whence he bought it and try to convince the shop owner that it is indeed a dead club and not one that is just resting or pining for the (Fred) Fords. We believe that it should then be put back on the shelf with a price tag of £150,000,000 the high asking price due to the fact that the club comes replete with a modern 27,000 seater stadium that hosts the Bristol Bears rugby club as well as having lighting  that considerably pisses off Tilly Vacher in Clifton.

Glad I did not subscribe, what a crock of sh1t

    Sell Webster, sign Kalas ✅

Sell Kelly, sign Dasilva ✅ (and Rowe)

Sell Pack, sign Nagy ✅ (and Massengo)

Release Fielding, sign Bentley ✅ (and Gilmartin) ?

So, I got the logic of the main replacements, but we then also added Palmer, Szmodics (Paterson loaned out), Williams, Pereira, Afobe, Rodrigo.

We loaned out players at the expense of this additional incomings.

January we sold Brownhill, replaced with Wells, Benkovic and Henriksen.

    We over-recruited.

I see you have Pack as 734K, but reported at time as £4m?

  14. As things have turned out Ashtons shopping trips to Knightsbridge have not worked out well

Kallas, generally a good solid defender, but surprising how many times he gets out jumped and does not appear to be a good communicator / organiser, for 8m and high wages, would be happy to get back what we can and reduce wage bill

Palmer - No manager seems to want to play him, can be great when he is up for it, although i think his home and heart are still in Swansea, need to get what we can for and move on, looks like we have better options in Scott and other youngsters

DaSilva - originally looked a great buy, but since injuries has never recovered his pace which use to make up a bit for his lack of height (which I think is a real problem for a defender), but now way behind Pring at LB - so need to get rid
