The best way to help the hospital staff is for the government to have done something, anything, in the last 21 months to have spent time money and dedication to finding and authorising treatments which can help people in the early stages of covid rather than letting them suffer for a couple of weeks before having to be hospitalised.
As I’ve said before, the focus has been on jab jab jab, without any effort being poured into funding any actual proper ‘treatments’.
21 months. Nothing. What do you get from Test & Trace when you are confirmed positive? You’re told “stay at home for 10 days”. What you should be getting nearly 2 years in is advice on treatments which you can be prescribed to help prevent you ending up in hospital. The vaccine isn’t a ‘treatment’. There are lots of drugs out there that have performed well in trials but no government is currently willing to consider them because all their eggs are in a big jabby basket.
To help the NHS, we need some pre-hospitalisation treatments.
Well, that, and of course more capacity, more nurses etc. But they’ve done the square root of bugger all except push jab after jab after jab.
They’ve literally got the treatment of covid all wrong and aren’t doing anything to correct their mistakes.

What like Lagevrio that is being sent out to vulnerable people

  2. I have little confidence in the system currently being used to stop the spread of this new variant.

Vaccine passports are available if you have had 2 jabs, but it would seem Omicron variant can still be caught and spread readily by anyone with 2 jabs. If you have not been jabbed then you require a natural flow test, which not convinced on accuracy and anyone who thinks they are fine or is not bothered about spreading the virus and just wants to go to footy whatever, can just scan the test to say they are clear, without even taking the test.

Added to this the lack of requirement to wear a mask (although I think a few more will be wearing again)

We all want to watch live football, but at what cost?

  3. With the thread 'Not going Saturday' giving an interesting range of views (Mods please merge), I am interested what is the general consensus about the match

With the massive increase in covid and a doubling rate now 1-2 days, I am not sure it is a with worth taking coming up to Christmas, even though I am triple jabbed

I think Kasey Palmer gets a lot of unfair flak. People seem to jump to assumptions about his attitude but it feels to me their only basis is others’ assumptions about his attitude.

For me, he tries when he plays. I think a major issue is he is a confidence player and you can see when the confidence is not there. But the bigger issue is he just does not fit in with how we want to play.

Don’t get me wrong. We signed him without a plan and we are now under a third manager that cannot use him. He needs to move for his own sake. But I am not so sure that this is the fault of his failings rather than our poor player acquisition.

We all know he has talent, but how many managers have now not played him, suggests a bit more to it, even Swansea who should of suited him he could not get in the team

We were also told by Pearson that Dave Rennie was our most important signing of the summer, we seem to have had again a number of injuries to key players.

Considering we have now changed the coaching set up and therefore you would assume what the players are doing in training and Rennie has a proven track record, so you have to say we are now either very unlucky or the problem is with certain players.

Williams is a very good player, but can't now see him being more than a bit part player for us, even when he comes back psychologically will always be worried about the ham string going again

“It’s about making sure he’s right”

Which is why we keep rushing him back from injuries and expecting him to play 95 minutes three times a week, and put it down to ‘bad luck’ when he breaks down again ????

Apart from it is his other leg

  7. As a totally radical different solution, if we accept that PP is needed and that its very difficult to alter players contracts, but the PP clubs have a huge advantage over the clubs without PP and you don't want to remove FFP, what about what happens in other sports, eg golf, horse racing

A Handicap system, relegated prem clubs can decide level of PP support it requires to maintain its squad, with a formula devised to equate to PP = points deduction at the start of the season. E.g. 10 million PP = starting the season on -5 point, 20 million on -8 points etc, not saying the numbers are correct, but sure it could be looked at to see what is the average number of points archived extra over the last few years with PP. This would incentivise clubs to reduce the need for PP and come in line with FFP. Of course the yo-yo teams would not want as removes the massive advantage they have, but at least we would get closer to a fair competition.

  8. It's a case of have and have nots, the prem teams looking over their shoulders that could one day get relegated will seek the backing from their mates in the bigger clubs to ensure if they are unfortunate to go down they will have the massive advantage of PP to come straight back up.

EFL will crumble with the offer of a few more pieces of silver to go away and shut and be grateful as normal.

We will be left with a broken corrupt system, where at least 2 teams each year get promoted with PP and FFP prevents a rich owner funding a challenge

People moan about F1 about how only the best car can win, but at least each team can match each others spending if they can afford to

If this was a game of poker where the cards had been fiddled and stacked against you, when you find out your would not want to play anymore as you only have an outside chance of winning.

The premier league greed is / has ruined football, - fans / clubs need to start voicing the anger against PP

My involvement isn’t really relevant for me to have the opinion I hold but since you ask, I was involved under Sod & Burt and then Cotterill & Burt to the extent that I’d have dialogue with sod or Burt on a pretty much weekly basis. Our conversations and recommendations led to the signings of Flint, Pack, Ayling, Freeman.
I’m no longer involved due to a young family and no longer having the time to travel the country watching games. I still get about when I can but I no longer consult. I do however still have many contacts from the network of scouts, agents, players, managers I built up back then, so am still well-informed as to some of the ongoings in our recruitment team.

Thank you for the reply, whilst your involvement is not necessary for an opinion it does add credibility, weight and substance to your views. So is my understanding correct you were a freelance scout?

I think these comments do @Harry a real disservice.   I find his postings on targets interesting and informative. Though you do sense some (totally understandable) frustration in posts I would not dismiss them as rants made by others.   I would be interested to hear about any connection you had with the club in the past @Harry.

Not intended to be disrespectful or a disservice to Harry as I likewise enjoy the posts. Some have been quite strong recently in their attack on the recruitment within the club, posts often seem to have an inside knowledge of the workings of BCFC hence my question of Harrys past.

I was having a little bit of a wonder about our starting line up yesterday and how it was put together.
I found it quite interesting that to get to the 8 non-academy players we started, you have to go back 50 transfers.
So that’s 50 signings we’ve made, that resulted in the 8 players being fielded yesterday.

That’s over 10 transfer windows - the earliest being O’Dowda in July 16.

We can shorten this period down by stating that only 1 of our last 12 signings started. Read that again. ONE OF OUR LAST TWELVE SIGNINGS!!

So, whilst we all knew there was a stockpiling of players under MA & LJ, since LJ left, things haven’t got any better.

I keep banging on about it, I know some will be bored of me saying it, but our recruitment over the last 4 years has been absolutely shocking. And it hasn’t improved over the last 18 months either.

We need to sort out the recruitment ASAP. We still don’t have a Head of Recruitment. We still don’t have a Chief Scout. We still rely upon an in house database that doesn’t send a scout to watch Cheltenham v Exeter under 18’s last Saturday morning, a database that won’t have a damn clue about Felix Miles or Will Armitage or Alex Hartridge, just like it didn’t have a clue in the past about the likes of Grimes, Watkins, Jay, Key or the likes of Twine, hell let’s even go back further and say Bowen when at Hereford.
We seem to have once again abandoned the idea that there are potentially good youngsters on our doorstep, and we aren’t thinking about these for the future.

Unless we’ve got 15 absolute diamonds in our youth set up, I sincerely worry about the next few years with the lack of knowledge of local/south west youngsters.

Harry - we hear what you say about recruitment and have to take it on face value with regards to how the club is set up and runs this side of the business and what changes NP if any is making. It appears clear to most supporters it is an area that has been awful under MA's watch, with his business plan strategy to SL of trading players to generate profit and I guess with the right recruitment / scouting it could of worked, but has gone badly as we all know.

Your posts on this subject are nearly as often as Hampshire reds calling for the sacking of NP. You obviously have a lot of knowledge on the subject and very frustrated, you appear to have been possible involved with the club at some stage? now for the rest of us who do not know you, I would appreciate to understand your expertise and your past, perhaps you could fill us in on the detail of your prior involvement if any with BCFC and when / why it ended. Appreciate if you can't, but would help to understand your rants.

It would seem that due to EFL FFP rules no multimillionaire can plough money into his local club to break the parachute yo-yo monopoly, the Championship will become as divided as the Premier League. Every season there will be a top 2 or 3, with a dozen teams fighting for the scraps of a playoff place.

If you look at every season since PP started, at least 2 of the promoted teams had PP, therefore generally only 1 place up for grabs of the non yo-yo teams. The system is broke and I can't believe more clubs and fans do not fight against a clearly rigged competition

OK then that means that SL’s flagship idea of BS will be dead in the water and it would be legitimate to question what degree of harm it has done over the years to BCFC.

All I am interested in is that SL and son get out of my club

Since when has it been your club, think the rest of us fans have an equal emotional input. Unless of course you have the 100 plus million quid to buy and desire to underwrite the ongoing losses, then it will  be your club.

Why slag him off for a half decent post? Or are you just on auto repeat?

Oh the irony of saying I'm on auto repeat, after commenting on the most negative poster on here whose ever post is sack NP or similar

The point being he only comes on and posts the usual nonsense when we lose to try and get a ground swell of support for his minority views.

As for half decent post, why should SL comment publicly after a loss it would serve no benefit what so ever and even if he did the usual anti SL mob would find something to moan about what is said.
