Listening to the football cliches podcast recently - apparently some now refer to a clean sheet as a "Cleano". Let's hope our social media team don't catch on.

And a lot refer to Rovers as Draino  !

    City absolutely strolled that.

It was like a training session. So relaxed. No pressure what so ever.

Good win...but jeez...that's the worst performance from an away side I've seen in a long time. And they finished 7th last season.

That goes along with the Fulham "team" of 68-69 which we strolled to a 6-0 win  without getting out of third gear, as the poorest opposition I've seen (or at least remember). But I don't care we won and it's GREAT !

  3. Just listened to Matt Taylor after the game last night............what a nice chap he seems, very humble, takes all the blame on himself , doesn't throw anyone under the bus, cert6ainly the nicest manager they've had in a long, long time. If it wasn't the gash, I would hope things would turn round for him. They don't deserve him !

It was a former player, Alex Somebody. He was playing to the converted. Mentioning The Championship and Bristol Rovers in the same breath should be certifiable - unless the word 'never' is included.

A typical no mark with his nose stuck up their arse !  I believe the regular mug punter down there think they are a big club because they are fortunate to come from a big city, never mind the fact that 7/8ths of fans support the team in red  ! It may as well be Mangotsfield or Portway for all the difference it makes

I'll tell you what if these quartered cretins EVER fluked their way to promotion it would be an infinitely bigger shock than Luton, Brentford or Bounemouth getting to to the Prem ever was !

On RB after the match, the summariser (haven’t a clue whom he was) said “I just hope that Matt can get it right because we all know that Rovers are a sleeping giant …”. FFS. Sleeping giant my arse.

Oh, they were all on there tonight............we should be beating teams like these !  You dumb *******, to everyone else YOU ARE teams "like these", the summariser apparently played for them ....... "gas heads this, gas heads that " I looked the brown nose *** up , I thought he must be a local bloke ,but no he's played for a thousand clubs, joined the sags in 2019, got fired out by Barton because he was never fit 2 years ago, since retired, so he had at most three years at the sleeping giant to form an opinion and become  a "life long fan " , they make me sick !

Almost as many pillars as the gash's new cowshed !

Seriously , never went in there , must have been like trying to watch a game from the cockpit of a Sopwith Camel .

The four seasons was where Lidle is now, a good way away from 002 in Abbotswood.

When in my teens, the Lawns was the place to go.

Pubs in Yate are pretty dire tbh...but Sodders more than makes up for it.

Stanshaws hotel/pub is by far the saddest state of affairs. Such a lovely building and grounds. Sadly never developed properly to reach it's massive potential.

Yes, had my reception in the Stanshaws, it was much more salubrious back in the 70's

Yes Lawns was good, I quite liked the Lion as well .

Yep, I went to college/ work with alot of Yate boys they were nearly all Gas, I'm in my 60s,  used to drink with them in the 002 and The Tern, I'm from Frampton/ Winterbourne and it was the same there at the time, no idea now as I left Bristol 40 years ago

002, that was a real dive when I lived in Yate (by the Four Seasons) The Tern was sheer luxury by comparison !

Easy - I am 47 now and my generation and below (in Yate) City was definitely a majority.

The generation above me were Gas though without a doubt.

I beg to differ , I lived in Yate from 63 for 11 years and I hardly knew any gash (one or two maybe) it was definitively red !

Even at school (Sodbury Grammar) the only two I knew who were deffo gash were Gordon Bennett and the odious Clarke Osborne !

e.g. on one of the special trains to Leeds (1968) it was like a school outing .
