  1. If I did that at work can I get more time on the beach too?
  2. As my one and only time on the pitch too, I plucked a few blades of grass from the centre circle after the game as a memento. Went home, put them in a small, square plastic box. I have no idea what happened to it.
  3. When you think about the mix of old and loan players and the age of supporters who do attend, a quote from the great Blackadder seems fitting:- They 'are in a stickier situation since sticky the stick insect got stuck on a sticky bun'. We all know that sport is a money game. The assumption that new owners would prompt a great new era have clearly not become reality. What next?
  4. Perhaps, in 2000 years time, archeologists will be picking over old ground in north Bristol. Their digs will discover a mix of clues causing some confusion around the date ranges. There will be pillars discovered that don't fit the building design of the time, burnt pasties even though there was no volcano and seats that show no sign of wear and tear. On the plus side, despite this they will find a highly developed pitch irrigation system and a trophy cupboard with a non league cup in it.
  5. Everyone will have their priorities. The OP has it similar to mine. A good view is essential, followed by legroom, then toilets/food/drink etc. I have seen football and rugby at the Principality in Cardiff, not a club ground obviously but that is probably the best I have seen including transport and being close to local life.
  6. Last night there was a very good documentary on TV about Pompeii on that my wife was watching. It talked about volcanoes and pyroclactic fumes. The only large amounts of gas seen last night.
  7. You would have thought so but I have just checked and it is Front Crawl Improvers Course on Tuesdays at Portishead open air pool so that is likely to attract a large % of their usual loyal followers. Unlucky to have a clash with something that big.
  8. I don't live in Bristol but have worked there a fair bit over the years. Personally, if I was starting from scratch and working from home I would try to find a place with a decent view over the lid of the laptop and out of the 'office' (spare room) window. There are a fair few hills around the outskirts of the city which might offer some chances of that. As you aren't commuting you could go anywhere. Good shouts about the seaside towns (views). I used to drive through Wick and Warmley a lot and that strikes me as close to nice countryside. If you like cycling there are routes on the old rail lines from there I am told.
  9. Yep, you are probably right. Seeing as we have spider cam at a lot of grounds, could we use those support cables to have a small grabber crane a bit like those children's toy dispensers? We could scoop up the injured player and drop them into the technical area to be treated? Game continues.... When I say drop them, not from a great height. Let's say place them instead.
  10. Having read through the comments, I say in summary that the Hudd fans should be complaining about the laws, not the ref who applied them. As I have said before, I am always more understanding of refs decisions in that live moment than those of VAR who have more time and more views to get it right. As regards looking at other sports for ideas, I wonder how football would cope with a physio on the pitch whilst the game carries on if he or she was some distance from play?
  11. If you look at it from the point of view of England's opponents, I don't think they would look forward to playing against that.
  12. Palmer is a form, confident player and should be in the mix. Looks from the outside like a cool headed type which bodes well for the big summer occasion. Meanwhile, every time I see Pickford he looks like someone who has had way too many espresso coffees before the game. A top keeper no doubt but he looks stressed on TV and whilst I like a keeper who barks out helpful shouts to his defence I worry a bit that he is too much on the edge during a difficult club season. As for the 'it's my ball' penalty argument, what a farce. Like a bunch of 7 year olds, hence they should be treated as such. No hot chocolate for them before bedtime.
  13. Having seen the stumbles by teams playing under pressure at the top of the 1st two divisions in recent weeks I was a bit frustrated to see we did not take an opportunity to play pressure-free football. So few attempts on goal when it was a chance to try things almost risk free.
  14. Good video, thanks. Aside from the decision, a lot of empty areas by +10 mins!! Not really surprised TBH. Also, a good pacy strike on the pen. Get some laces through it I say, a good strike.
  15. They should have been displaying some club accreditation I would think, particularly in a family area? All part of safeguarding?
  16. I can't see where the ball is but that still suggests the ref had a great view of it.
  17. I try to look at these from the point of what would the defender prefer to happen if you could freeze time. Would they really want to block a speculative cross and give away a pen or let the ball follow its path? On that basis probably the latter. I am not saying the refs have it wrong but that the guidelines they follow are on the harsh side. I think both the City and Bournemouth pens were hard calls. Yes things even out over a season or 2 but I would prefer the refs to give pens on what looks like something more deliberate. Certainly if we compare constant grabbing fouls in the box by defenders as the ball comes over from a corner kick (that are wholly ignored) with having a ball kicked against an arm, the game could do with a re think.
  18. The beach at Alcudia is one of the best anywhere in the med. Great sand, shallow warm water is good for children and non swimmers. The resort is a bit too built up in places now but the bay is big and you can just walk and walk along the waters edge. Have been several times.
  19. A 3-1 win must mean an open top* bus tour of Bristol, right? (* it wasn't going to be open top but apparently they used the bus roof metal for the new stand).
  20. Will need a bigger ground if they keep this run up.
  21. My Birmingham mate is very grateful for that finish, probably more so than many on here who want his team to go down. Anyway, he says thanks.
  22. Hah! Sorry, yes. Could I get away with blaming auto correct? I would be lying if so.
  23. I was just saying to a Birmingham supporting friend of mine - if Hudd come for a point they will probably pinch all 3, if they come for a win they will probably get nothing. I think this is a rare moment for our players, they should be chafing at the bit (grand nat mention there) to go with no pressure. Forget thoughts of a beach, to play the game at this level with no pressure is a great opportunity. I expect zippy passing and adventure when it is the right moment. Take players on, do things you wouldn't normally try. I hope LM has the same message - 'show me what you can do'.
  24. All sounds a bit dodgy ID, are you sure she is who she says she is?
  25. It is surprising to hear that a driving licence is ok, mine has such a poorly contrasted and coloured photo of me I can hardly recognise myself. If I was at Security I wouldn't let me through! The original photo was fine, it was the licence card process that managed to fade it.
