  1. For some reason the media and ex-players seem to love Southgate. The guy was a failure at Middlesbrough seeing them relegated in his final season there. He only got the job because he was already in the England set-up and the FA had to replace Big Sam quickly to avoid further embarrassment. I think he is very negative and has zero tactical nous. We have lost/exited the last 3 tournaments due to him not knowing how to change personnel and/or tactics to win a big game. He looks absolutely clueless but hey ho he’s good with the media and I heard the other day that the FA may be considering a longer contract. Tbh I think big Nige would do a better job with the talent available and I’m being serious!!
  2. Big Nige was obviously sacked for non-footballing reasons, but I also think there’s something else at play here. I have listened with interest to SL’s comments over recent times and I think he believes that since investing in the HPC he has given the head coach/manager all the tools they need for success whilst also subsequently reducing the need for recruitment of players. This was further reflected by NP stating that we couldn’t afford to buy a striker and that we would ‘’grow our own’’. Was that a coincidence, or something he had been told to do? I believe that the same applies for the Bears and the Ladies who have been encouraged to embrace the good team spirit mentality and excellent training facilities to achieve success.
  3. Perfectly put. SL obviously can’t work with people with strong characters who tell him how it is. He likes to surround himself with puppets and sycophants. His son is just his mouthpiece relaying his message (poorly) to the media and fans. I believe they have made a big mistake by detailing the reasons behind NP’s sacking. This should now be used as a yardstick to measure LM’s performance against. Should he fail to live up to their expectations he will have to be shown the door a la NP. All JL had to say was there was a disagreement between the two parties on how they viewed the way forward leading to a mutual parting of the ways.
  4. To be fair those are 2 extreme examples but it’s certainly the case that some great players have been crap managers and vice versa. it just worries me that this guy also has a very unimpressive coaching/managerial career thus far. His success effectively equates to a couple of good months at Oxford.
  5. My sincere apologies for having the audacity to ask you guys a question. I should of course referred to that well know reliable info site before bothering anyone. Anyway just checked as per your suggestion and found out what an impressive playing CV he has. Amongst others he has played for the following:- Long Melford, Leiston, Selfoss and Wroxham. We are truly blessed….
  6. LM said on the local news that he’s been coaching for 18 years, so effectively since he was 20. Did he never play professional football? Got to be honest I’ve never heard of him. It sounds like we have appointed him off of the back of a couple of good months at Oxford. I’m interested to know what the Lansdowns do next if this doesn’t work out. I think we will go down the foreign route followed by a Nigel Pearson type to get us out of trouble.
  7. I look forward to automatic promotion under the expert stewardship of JL. Bloody Nigel Pearson holding us back all those years.
  8. Not sure anymore mate - I love my club but I’ve never known such a dumb, low information, apathetic bunch than our fellow City fans. It always used to wind me up when they said Geordies & Scousers know their football like it was some sort of cliche but my God they are right. Can’t believe after the last few weeks events certain fans believe that a new manager will make the slightest bit of difference.
  9. Bar BS3 I truly love your optimism and some would say naivety. Given the restrictions he was under NP could do no better and I think worked wonders doing what he did. You assume the new manager will be given money in the transfer window and subsequently not quite sure what he will be able to achieve in the pre-season. Cut to the chase pal we all love the club it means a hell of a lot to us but this bollox is not doing us any good. I fully expect us to bring in some failed journey man manager or lower league non-entity next week and we will be in a relegation battle. It would be so much better if you acknowledged the shit show going on down the gate and accepted that nothing will change until the Lansdowns move on.
  10. With Alisha Lehmann as her player coach assistant….
  11. Nigel Pearson took teams up to the Premiership from our Championship and look what happened to him.
  12. Would rather we went in for Bo Selecta!!
  13. It will be interesting to see the body language of the players and motivational levels. I suspect it will be a difficult afternoon for all involved and wouldn’t rule out an Owls win. Such a shame it was all so unnecessary.
  14. What is the point even of a new manager? It’s like replacing the trombonist of the band on the Titanic. The captain will continuously head for the iceberg.
  15. He’s not going to walk away without selling the club is he? There has been no transparency coming from SL so we don’t know anything about potential buyers although he mentioned he had been in talks with a 3rd party earlier in the year but no updates on this? BTW football may be an expensive business but no one has held a gun to his head to buy or continue ownership of the club. Like others I suspect he is asking too much for the club which is not helped by the entangled web which is Bristol Sport. My fear is that the status quo will continue for the foreseeable which I think is reinforced by the sacking of NP. Why would SL get rid of him if he wasn’t thinking more long term?
  16. So it’s ok for you to have an opinion but not BA? I appreciate someone with critical thinking skills and an analysis of the likely motives of said successful ‘business man’. We need more debate on this subject not closing down of it. And by the way potty mouth North Korea are probably being more transparent at this moment in time!!
  17. Presumably he would want a big budget for new signings? Ain’t gonna happen. Plus he is a crap manager…
  18. Oh yawn. What’s the matter does the truth hurt? Interesting stuff from Big Al and sounds about right to me. It’s never been about the football for SL just using the club as a convenient vehicle to increase his wealth. He has sabotaged any decent manager’s attempts to get us to the PL over the past decade or so. We as City fans need to unite to get these charlatans out of OUR club.
  19. I don’t think it’s anything to with energy, or ideas. I’ve thought for a while now that SL is a whack job. I don’t think he has any intention of selling up and enjoys his god-like status at the gate with his sycophants lips attached firmly to his backside. Will he continue to gaslight us about being in ‘talks’ with potential suitors? Been talking a long, long time Stevo!
  20. I actually find it quite humiliating that we have sold our 3 best young prospects to the UKs biggest nursing home. I have taken some stick on here for having the audacity to criticise Lansdown but it appears the blinkers are now thankfully coming off. I reckon Conway will be itching for a move at some point especially with his mentor NP now moving on. I expect his best mate Scott has been on the phone telling him how great it is playing at Old Trafford et al…..oh and the £40k a week ain’t too shabby!!
  21. I am fuming absolutely livid with the Lansdowns. What a pair of ****ing cowards they are. It’s time folks to make feelings know in whatever (peaceful) way. Hit them in the pocket - don’t buy any food & drink in the ground or merch in the shop. Get the old bedsheets out and around the ground a la LJ. #GetoutLansclown #SellupLansdown
  22. I am truly in shock! What despicable individuals these Lansdowns are. A decent man with a bad back condition doing a great job with no backing. Please let this be the beginning of the end for this garbage family. #SellupLansdown
  23. He could have made the save Dave and no one would have been questioning his ability. Very fine margins in football, as you know. I’ve thought for a long time that he has technical flaws in his game. A bit like Vyner who was very raw but improved with proper coaching. Hopefully the same will happen with Max.
  24. There’s nothing to work out. He made some saves but ultimately let in a very saveable goal which led to the defeat. Doesn’t really matter what he did before or after the goal I’m afraid that was the key moment.
