Newcastle are on the up and will pick up silverware sooner rather than later.

Kane is hardly going to win back to back PL medals and cups now. But joining Newcastle or Man Utd will increase his chances massively of winning something.

I look at Kane and think what a waste of a career some way. Should have left Tottenham years ago.

A waste of a career? 2nd highest goal scorer in Premier League history, Highest England goal scorer and you think it’s a waste of a career?

He’s stayed loyal to the club he’s been at since a kid. Had he moved 3-4 years ago when linked you would have said only interested in money.

If I was the best player in the world, I would only want to play for Bristol City, I would prefer to play 700 games for us and win nothing than 50 for a premier league team and win a cup.

Not everyone is motivated by jumping ship to win anything.

Transfermarkt has Engvall at €1.6m. And undisclosed with regards to the Mechelen fee. Talk at the time and since also pointed towards very inflated agents fees as part of the deal. I'd also point out I'm not only slighting LJ, but MA and JL as well.

Transfermarkt makes errors, a common problem is not exchanging to GBP.

My error was actually thinking we signed O'Dowda for £1.6m - the above correction is valid, again noting Transfermarkt have the fee in Euros in error. However, being the case, I remove Cornick from my £3.5m total. Doesn't change much, does it?

I could put immeasurable other signings from the MA/LJ era.

Wish people would stop assuming any criticism of LJ is somehow being heightist - odd tangent. I have never insulted LJ personally in reviews of his terms as manager.

Fact of the matter is, we blew nearly £35m of which only a small portion will be recouped, Kalas, Baker, Bentley, Palmer, DaSilva; alone nearly £22m in fees. That's indefensible.

Sorry, you are right regarding Engvall, I was looking at market value.

I never said you have insulted LJ personally, I said 'people'. The amount of comments on here calling him poisonous dwarf, Little Lee, etc even 4-5 years after he left is crazy.

Nige has effectively spent £3.5m on Atkinson, Tanner, Mehmeti, and Cornick.

LJ spent more than that on Engvall and O'Dowda.

    If you take Transfermarkt.

    Engvall - £1.1m also apparently recouping £600k

    O'Dowda - £1.2m

£2.3m is not more than £3.5m.

I get people don't like LJ cos he was short, believed in himself and ultimately didn't deliver, but my god some people make stuff up!

That win against Man Utd was a managerial masterclass according to LJ himself…….………:cool2:

It was his repeated failure to improve City’s league position season on season that led SL to run out of patience.

    2016 - Finished 18th

    2016/17 - Finished 17th

    2017/18 - Finished 11th

    2018/19 - Finished 8th

You say it was "his failure to improve City's league position season on season..."

I used to think people gave you a hard time on here, but you actually don't know what you're on about.

  5. I think he suffers more when playing the full match. He had a good first half, slow start to the second and then was anonymous for the last 20.

I think we should have subbed him at 60mins off the back of a solid/good performance as while he tracks back well and works hard for the team, he didn't get it right with the ball later on.

Ask them why we employ coaches with so say great reputations yet very few of our players appear to improve, in fact in our captain's case goes backwards!

Exactly! The digression of performances from players like Tanner, Vyner, Pring, James, Scott, Conway, Bell, Wells this season has been so obvious for everyone to see!

Don’t believe so.  Baker will likely have had his own though.

    re OOC this summer:

Of those, I’m sure King will be here.

Kalas - real tough one to call at this point.  My head says no.

Kadji - will be an interesting one, might get another year, as he’ll be cheap.

Edwards - we might exercise option to retain some value.

Would not surprise me if all the others left / released.

Re those who expire in summer 2024, bit early to say.

Ooo what does the * next to Academy for Edwards mean in your spreadsheet Dave?

IMHO he’s better attacking rather than defending - he’s too ‘lightweight’. As someone earlier suggested I think he’d be better playing in midfield with an attacking role, rather than defence.

Really? I think he’s not very good at all attacking. He can’t cross, does not run with the ball at pace and is very one footed.

What he is good at is close control, intricate play and one on one defending (Forss couldn’t get passed him at all yesterday).

He would suit a slow build possession based team, which is the complete opposite of us.

Why can't you just say it's meaningless to you and let the rest of us make our own minds up.

You keep putting it next to winning or losing which demonstrates you don't really understand it anyway.

I think that's relevant to pretty much every post he makes on any topic on here...

I saw this post today, and the comments below it.

I know you can only score against what's put in front of you... however, it puts some stats into perspective.

    No it doesn’t.

He is now England (men’s) top ever goal scorer. End of.

He’s not been proclaimed Englands top ever goal scorer against opposition people think are good, or Englands top ever goal scorer not including penalties.

If he had scored 55 penalties for England he would be Englands top ever goal scorer

If all 55 had come against San Marino, he would be Englands top ever goal scorer.

Oh absolutely if accurate all the credit to him. Skimread the article and a -12 would have complicated their future quite badly. Always struck me as a decent custodian for the most part, Hoyle.

Hi Mr P, can you explain to me how a new/old owner writing off £x million of debt isn’t against the point of FFP, and I include us in this.

How or why does the rule allow clubs to have so much debt and an owner write it off. Thanks
