  1. I’m not sure I understand the wording for the 1st question.

Is it which ex City player scored his first goal at Ashton Gate while technically not being a home or away team?

Would suggest a neutral venue so maybe an u21 or younger international game?

What ex youth internationals have we signed? Tammy maybe?

I wonder if the FA will ban number 88 like Italy did...

Just had to read up why 88 is banned. I doubt the FA will, it’s not as much of an issue over here compared to Italy.

  3. I must be an outlier because I really don’t care who wins the race, I just like to see some interesting battles between drivers and teams throughout a race or the season.

This year I have found interesting with Aston Martin, Ferrari, Mercedes generally battling it out for places 2-8 with some random Haas or Alpine doing well on a suited track and now Mclarens update seemingly doing great for the last two tracks and will it continue.

Skys coverage before hand with the group they have and the pieces they do with current drivers, ex drivers, teams are alway interesting, I like the dynamic of David Croft (excitable, has a few Murrayisms) and Martin Brundle. Ted’s notebook is well worth a watch just to see some behind the scenes stuff after the race.

  4. I think if we get Knight AND keep Scott we’ll see some more rotation with the central midfield meaning we won’t need to flog James (whose a year older), Williams (with his crisp packet hamstrings) and Naismith who may be required to fill in at CB every so often.

Looks like some Derby fans saying Knight can play behind the front 3 I.e where Scott plays so also gives him a rest/replacement.

First game I've watched in the tournament - incredibly boring game of football, no excitement, no flow, stoppages all the time, ref standing around chatting to the players instead of getting on with the game.

1-0 but so what, so bloody dull.

If that's the future of professional football it'll be dead as a spectator sport within a generation.

Well that’s the biggest over reaction I’ve seen on here for a while!

Although it might be significant that Benarous was with the U21s when it came to the full contact drill at the end that cranked the physical, competitive edge up a notch or two (from 12:20 on the video)

So I suspect he has a way to go yet.

For sure it was good to see him but he's got this far before and was then injured again, so let's keep our fingers crossed for him this time...

Yeah you are right, I guess the running drill is all about fitness and just running back and forth at a constant speed for a long period which would be less stressful on his knees in comparison to a contact football drill where he’ll be turning and change sprint speeds more often where he has a greater chance of doing it again.

At least he’s out there though!

The other thing about Nakhi is his injury record, can't actually remember him missing a game through injury! Even that Holden/Pearson season where the treatment room must have resembled the London Dungeon, I think he played or was on the bench in pretty much every game?

Also for that running test it looks like Wells & Andi + a couple of younger kids were the best so he’s obviously still very fit for one of our older players.

Andi you’d expect to be at the top of any long running stats.

Benarous being in the preseason work today is good to see. Forgotten when we might be expecting him to be back, does anyone know if he's back to full fitness now? Or does he still have more time before he is back fully?

As he seemed to be taking part in that running test I’d guess he’s not too far away.

An amusing read for a Sunday afternoon:-

    https://gasheads.proboards.com/thread/21150/failed

My 7 yr old wants to see the s**t...

    What do I do

    Possibly the best response? ...

"I would be inclined to take them to a s**t preseason game, where the standard of play and atmosphere is usually poor, and then take them to a big game down at the Mem where its likely to be rocking."

That would really fool them! "Big game down at the Mem????"

Best bit is later on he picks out the ‘big game down the Mem where it’s likely to be rocking’ for them to attend as…

    Port Vale…

Might not be the best manager for them and can understand the confusion around it but I really don’t get all the stick and hate LJ gets by our fans. Yes it wasn’t exactly smooth sailing all the time but in my years watching city there’s only been 3 managers I’ve genuinely enjoyed watching the club with and actually brought some excitement/joy and that’s Gary Johnson, Cotterill and Lee. Granted the first 2 won promotions and a cup but with LJ it’s the first time we were considered a genuine threat to the league and a team that could challenge. Also worth remembering we were his first “big” job and he was still learning his trade. Things could have gone differently for him here if he had someone above him better than Ashton to oversee spendings.

Might be the only one who thinks this but I reckon he’d do a decent job at Leeds. If you look at his jobs so far it isn’t that bad. Kept Oldham up and settled, went to Barnsley and got them in the promotion mix and to the cup final before leaving for us, they went on to get promoted and win the cup, took us from relegation fights to pushing for play off spots and a very good cup run. Went to Sunderland who were an absolute shit show and again had them top 4 and it was a bit of a weird sacking with the timing. Where’s he’s at now there’s only so much you can do. Never making top 2 and at best can make a domestic cup final. He needs to come back to the championship again imo.

I think there’s a lot of people who blame him for the financial situation we find ourselves in now. I personally don’t, that lays to Ashton and SL.

They were the ones who sanctioned the spending. As a manager in a high pressure job of course you are going to ask to buy another player, if the above says yes, what can he do. Incidentally, the time I thought we played the best was when we were struggling for players due to injury and had to play Reid and Pato up top!

Theres other who don’t like his jargon. I don’t mind it, he’s not an old school tell it like it is manager. He likes to think outside the box and try new techniques. Nothing wrong with that, but I get how it can grate for some.

Others just don’t like him because he’s short.

The only thing Spurs have in their favour is Scott's support. The new guy is wholly untried at a top level. Winning a one horse race at a canter in the pub league is not an indicator of anything really.

The move I'm hoping for that would be best for everyone would be Newcastle. Money to burn, but also the sort of manager who would be perfect for his development in my opinion.

Yep, Howe gave the lad on loan at the gas plenty of game time and opportunities this year so with the extra European games and strain on the squad, it would be a good move.

The majority of Premier clubs have pitches at 7140 sq metres (105m x 68m). City is the same.

Fulham is Prem smallest at 6500 sq m

    Luton is 6619 sq m (100.6m x 65.8m)

Note. These dimensions come from one web site which may or may not be totally accurate.

Sorry, I was referring to the quality of the pitch that they will cultivate for next season. As their game plan is hitting balls up to Morris and Adebayo and winning knock downs, they will make the pitch dry and bumpy to prevent teams playing a passing game.

Size of the pitch won’t make much difference.

Really?  I think all of the teams will fancy going there and spanking them

Fancying going there to spank them and actually going there to spank them is a different thing!

I wonder why Burnley are looking at him then?

To be fair, there's no guarantee Company was there watching Massengo. There are 2 twitter links, one has 6 likes, the other 360 odd and 1 newspaper link (Bristol World so hardly reputable)

Could be journalists putting 2 and 2 and getting 5. Kompany could well have been looking at a PSG player for a potential loan next year (maybe someone like Renato Sanchez)

I wouldn’t be surprised if they beat the record for the lowest ever points tally in a season in the Prem but will pocket ££££’s for their new stadium and come back in the Championship as a more attractive option for better players

Really? I don't think many premier league teams are going to fancy going to Kennilworth Road next year on what is a pretty crap pitch, close stands and I expect the fans will whip up a ferocious atmosphere.

I can see them getting. spanked a few times away from home, but I fancy them to turn over a few teams at home. At least enough to get more than 11 points.

I hope you`re right but it`s been nagging at me ever since they went up. OOC, Prem experience, steady player with his head screwed on and probably still has a gaff in London. It ticks a lot of boxes.

I seem to remember from an interview, Joe had a flat actually in Fulham.

Fulham > Luton is not an easy commute!

I actually think on a weekday rush hour, Bristol > Luton could be quicker...

It might surprise you to know that I didn't realise Pope was having surgery although my next response one or two replies further down would have made that fairly clear. But to answer your question, Nah, if I knew Pope was having surgery on his finger I wouldn't put him in. If you think about it for a second, the pain he might be in and the recovery time required just wouldn't allow him to train and play properly. It would be very dangerous to train and play whilst having surgery in my opinion and hopefully that alleviates any worries you might have had. However, I'd definitely pick Gibbs White over Maddison for the full squad on both current form and where his head is likely to be at all day long right now, 100%, not even a discussion for me.

I do feel better now :)

I agree about Gallagher but I think Maddison is the sort of player who plays better with better players around him.

Ive watched quite a few Leicester games this season and his general ball skills (oo err) is as good as anyone but playing in an under performing (relegation threatened) team means his output hasn’t been as high as it should be.

If MGW is captain of the under 21s, leave him there to play that rather than be on the bench for these two games. That may happen to Maddison anyway!

Pickford has never let England down. The other two keepers are not as good as Nick Pope imo. Look at him on Tuesday, literally NOTHING to do for 90 minutes then makes a top class save in injury time. Isn't that what top keepers are supposed to do? On current form I would probably have left Ramsdale out, comes across as a bit fur coat and no knickers at the present time compared to three keepers actively earning their clubs points recently.

Eze was a good pick. Can someone tell me what trees Conor Gallagher has pulled up to earn a call-up in the last three months? As somebody said earlier there is a lad at Forest who has been making a difference for months and has made a huge impact in keeping his side up (Gibbs-White). Similarly Maddison, from what limited amount I've seen. all he's contributed recently is to go missing in massive games that have mattered to his club?

    Otherwise it's bog standard selection.

So you would put in Pope (who is having surgery) and Morgan Gibbs White (who is in the u21 squad)?

  17. It’s a shame because he comes across as a nice guy in interviews I’ve seen him in.

He turned down a testimonial at Man U because he didn’t think anyone would show up.

He may need to move abroad as I feel he’s become a bit of a joke here.

  18. Me and my missus were on the way home from the cinema late one night and we parked up on a street and we’re sat in the car for a few minutes, out of the corner of my eye I see a guy leaving a park naked but holding a coat in front of his bits.

We watch him walk down a couple of houses and then stand in front of the window exposing himself to those inside. We heard quite a few screams and saw him run off back down to the park.

About 5 minutes later he sneaks back round and looks to do the same thing but as he gets to the driveway 3 or 4 young girls (probably 11 or 12) come running out and throwing stones at him.

Now we realise he’s exposing himself to underage teens I jump out the car to chase him but he spotted me earlier than I thought he would and gets into the park and I couldn’t see where he went.

The girls found it funny, and at the time when we first saw him we did laugh, but in hindsight I wish I’d caught him for the police to deal with. God knows what he could be capable of.
