  6. No tickets back then, terraces and pay on the night. I decided to go on the morning of the game and left work at lunchtime, picked up my partner and drove up. There were already huge queues at the turnstiles at 5.30. We just went in the part of the ground that had the smaller queues but it still took over an hour to get in. City completely filled the large open terrace behind the goal, the other end was divided in two with a fence down the middle and City filled one side, we were in a side stand with a terrace in front and this was roughly 50/50 City/Cov - the only part of the ground with no City fans was their smallish main stand opposite presumably because that's where their ST holders sat. Easily 15,000 City, more like half of the 36k official attendance.

  11. I list Cardiff as a club who have had 2 promotions to the Premier League during SL's tenure. That's all. As far as I'm aware Tan doesn't play in the team or coach the side. He has hired people to do that, people who have performed better than the people the Lansdowns have hired. I don't like that club, or their fans, and the behaviour over Sala is disgusting, but the comparison is that even a **** like Tan can get Cardiff promoted while SL continues to fail and make bad decisions - handing the reins to Jon and over promoting BT are the latest mistakes.
  12. Foreign owner? Heaven forbid! Foreign owned clubs like Forest, Burnley, Leicester, Fulham, Wolves, Cardiff,Bournemouth, Leeds, etc etc who have all had promotion to the Premier League during Lansdown's ownership. None of us want that.

  14. He simply meant that in his opinion - and experience - the manager needs to have total control and being the highest paid reflects that. There's obviously no rule, just his perspective. AF spoke a lot in the many books written by and about him regarding the need for total control to manage effectively, he ruthlessly got rid of any player who he felt tried in whatever way to undermine his control - Beckham, Stamm, Keane, Van Nistelroy, etc.

  17. Free to start with ( to drown out the objections and get fans onside) but no doubt charges will follow. BT sport was free ( to BT broadband customers) when it launched PL coverage but now they charge like everyone else.
