Very strange. I felt that was Yeboahs best performance for us and he was unfortunate to not get a goal.

Doesn't offer much? He was an absolute nuisance today as he usually is.

No goals and no assists. As I said, have faith he will be good long term but needs time out on loan as too raw right now.

Post match Nigel Pearson spoke of fine margins and the fact we could’ve scored more.

My post match thoughts were less positive.

Firstly, I think we were very sloppy and made lots of poor decisions on the night. We certainly didn’t control the game or the ball particularly well.

Perhaps we could’ve scored more, as NP suggested, but certainly Plymouth had three gilt edge opportunities - one following Max’s sloppy clearance, then when they hit the post and at the death when ZV’s superb tackle prevented a certain goal.

Finally, I was really hacked off by two stupid yellow cards. Does anybody know if the club fine players for picking up a yellow card when they delay a free kick or throw the ball away?

In the first half Wells picked up a card for this which should’ve been more than enough warning to the rest of the players, however, in the second half Tanner joined him for the same offence. Really is not very professional. Everyone knows that referees are going to issue cards for such behaviour.

They had 2 chances at end when game was over. I think we can live with that. We controlled 95% of that game and they had nothing 2nd half whilst it was 3-1. You should be saying good performance and good win

I see we’ve been allocated less than 3,000 tickets.

The FA should have insisted we were given the whole Celtic end, about 12,000 tickets.

Not sure if you are joking…Why would we get almost 25% allocation? I think we got a fair few more last time we played here though. Luckily I’ve got a ticket but they don’t have to have more than 5% I don’t think.

I’m in the “we will win nothing with Southgate” camp as he’s tactically naive and too loyal to certain players. I don’t know who would do a better job, mind.

I think plenty would but why would an Eddie Howe for example leave Newcastle.

I don’t get see why people have to be so polarised about Southgate. He’s done well in some respects and not so well in others. One thing he has been brilliant at is galvanising the players and the fans to have interest in the team again. He’s also had a reasonable tournament record given what came before him.

However my feeling is that in the big moments and games he often gets the tactics wrong (Croatia and Italy). And even when he got them right v France he didn’t have any luck.

I think there would undoubtedly be others who would do better but not sure why they would want the role. The danger is there are some who would want role who would make us worse.

Italy drew in North Macedonia. Had we won today that would have been that qualification wise.

We will qualify - just a matter of when now.

Let’s be honest, that was Ukraine’s cup final but they may have one more if Italy keep messing up.

  6. Poor tonight but let’s be honest. Qualification was done after Italy away so quite hard to get too excited about these games.

Missed Stones and Jude was weirdly not at the races. Think we could have stepped it up if required. Wrocław nice and cheap so all good.

    On to Scotland…

For all our panic/negativity etc, we have 8 points from 5 games.  1.6 points per game.  Extrapolate that to 46 games and you have 73.6 points which is either in or very close to the play offs.

When you consider we've lost our best player, have significant players out etc, it's hardly a disaster is it?

We've had 2 poor performances IMO, one of which was a cup game.  We were definitely the better side v Hull and Preston as well and could have stolen a point at home to Birmingham.  In other words we are highly competitive.

Perhaps a few of us need to chill the **** out?

We were definitely not the better side v Preston

Good result for Rovers against a decent club.

Of the two, Charlton are the bigger club and are bigger than City, with home attendances in excess of yours last season in a lower league.

Impressive results for BRFC against three teams who will be in the top half of L1, and almost certainly promotion contenders.

A win away against Millwall is also quite impressive, I'll give you that. However, the fact they are play-off contenders reflects badly on the Championship.

    Charlton averaged 13.4K last season.

    Ours was 20.5k.

Not sure what planet you are on but it isn’t the same as everyone else.

  9. Very poor by us - even worse after we scored. I suggested the level of opposition we played pre-season was not great - shot down. Stand by it and looks like we were way off the pace after not playing anyone of note. Don’t think beating joke teams 7-0 helps much except fitness.

Bell and Vyner were good. Dickie ok. We missed Scott a lot.

Yes it’s early days but it was a very similar performance to so many with Pearson and dare I say it, LJ, in charge.

  10. Can’t get particularly optimistic playing these kinds of teams. Worrying for me that we aren’t playing anyone above league 1 level before the start of the season. Not that results against higher opposition mean that much but it’s more to get us to the level required.

I do like Pearson and I’m hopeful of a top 10 but I do wonder how good our prep will turn out. Hope to be wrong.

  11. Is there actually any benefit to these pre-season games against a bunch of jokers every time. Perhaps for fitness but I would think we would be better off actually have some competitive games to bring players up to championship standard…not league 2 or non league
