Apologies, I should have explained that those two images were previously tweeted by Geoff Twentyman to promote last night's Sound of the City.

I'm Mark Tovey, formerly a board member of the Supporters Trust and Supporters Club and Trust, and just one of a number of fantastic volunteers who produced the 38-page booklet, 82 - The Year Bristol City Nearly Died, over 7 breathless weeks, contributing 100's of hours, during December 2006 and January 2007. The edition (containing interviews with all the players, plus Deryn Coller, Mick Harford, Roy Hodgson, Gerry Sharpe, Bob Boyd and Gordon Taylor) was published on the night of the 25th Anniversary commemoration dinner for the Ashton Gate 8 - attended by all the players - that was held in the old Dolman Exhibition Hall on Friday February 4th 2007.

I'll ask the Trust if there are any spare copies and get back to you.

I think there would be quite a few fans interested in obtaining a copy of this could a reprint be done or is this unlikely?

JP was fantastic last night I knew he was a City fan but didn't quite realise how close his connection to the club was hearing his stories was a bit of a tear jerker and obviously still very emotional for him. We have a lot to be thankful due to the 8 and their willingness to put their own sistuations to one side for the club and it certainly wasn't all roses for them afterwards either. It's also sad in a way that football is still not learning some of the lessons from incidents like this around club finances.

  3. Another blockbuster weekend with two close games. Burrow suddenly looks the real deal after the Bears gave him a beat down some weeks ago ?. Special praise for McPherson the kicker he's my MVP complete clutch kicker for a rookie and low draft pick what a season he's had.

Didn't see the late game but nobody wants to see the Rams buy a Superbowl ring. My heart goes out to those poor Lions fans it now looks like they gave away Stafford for some low draft capital and Jarred Goff ?

Both the best mtach ups on late :(

  5. No major surprises so far in the playoffs some teams who got through were well off the pace. I still think 49ers are the dark horse coming good late.

The Bills were the highlight absolutely on fire never seen a display like that... Josh Allen looks the MVP on this form..

  6. I'm watching on BBC1, the show just doesn't seem to know what it is - dark comedy, drama, serious thriller like Killing Eve but a bit meh ... its a painful watch bar the lovely Lucie Miller and some great portrayal of an Aussie caveman husband from Ethan Krum just gutted he didn't get shot last night

  7. Its an interesting comparison but far more to both clubs back stories.

Swansea - played nice football under Cooper but never had any shots just passed the ball sideways and to death some fans actually didn't like that style as it was boring to watch. Since getting relegated from the Prem they have been all about saving money for the American owners, so have been tyring to offload virtually everyone on the playing staff of any value over the summer and ths a major reason why Cooper left, They've brought in a few players but certainly don't have a huge budget far from it, they've needed free transfers like Smith and Pato to make up the numbers.

Martin has been in the job 131 days could you judge any body on that in the football world given the similar mess he adopted to Pearson? Has Nige done any better with his 291 days in charge the table suggests not and the style of football most people are in agreement is atorcious to watch.

  8. This is a strange thought but perhaps Carroll just wanted to play football and isn't worried about the money, as he was a free agent with a terrible injury record he probably couldn't even demand huge wages like you might expect especially in a coivd era? He might even be on a deal based on the minutes he plays for all we know with no huge bonuses? He's had a coupe of big moves so is probably a multi millionaire.

I think the Chelsea loan thing is more crooked, you are basically subsiding another club or even creating a feeder club for your fringe players. Perhaps Abramovich is trying to get into China and this is good networking for him by doing a few dodgy loan deals with a Chinese owned club!! The sooner we follow the model of Germany with supporter led clubs the better.

I've got one episode left. It's good, although the slavery to NFL comparison I thought was wrong, although I can see the point he was trying to make. Still blows my mind that you can have tens of sexual assault accusations thrown your way, and teams are still willing to trade for you. Kneel during the anthem and you're out the game. That is racist.

I think he was just going all in on episode one with the slavery thing to get media attention and to hook the audience for a shock factor, although ironically I think this scene caused a lot of fans to turn off. Its amazxing in the MLB and NFL even today cases of sexual assualt are covered up on an almost daily basis thats even before you look at the race discrimination, cash is definitely king in the USA over everything else.

With whats going on at Yorkshire CC it does make you wonder what goes on in the football world over here as well?

    What an awful Sunday

Bears didn't play so we couldn't lose ?, although watching Detroit v Steelers was like watching City v City felt like I had lost an arm watching it but couldn't turn it off.

Any body watched the Colin Kapernick series on Netflix bit of an eye opener pretty damning on US sport and race relations as a whole. I always naively thought he was just a bit of a rebel but this series gives a much better insight of how he got to the "kneel" through all the stuff he went through as a kid.

Anyone heard any more whispers about the concerts?

I was expecting to have heard more by now

I suspect more will be announced and tickets sold around Black Friday and lead upto Christmas a lot of promoters do this to tap into the Christmas present market!

  12. Some dodgy accents but other than that brilliant. It is a little bit of everything a drama, comedy and just something you don't have to be completly absorbed by. Also some great acting from some of the lesser known cast members.
