The Coronavirus and its impact on sport/Fans Return (Merged)

Where have I mentioned Ashton Gate, I’m more than happy watching the games I’m watching now, and will continue too. Level 3 and below has the all clear to carry on as it is??. -

No I’m not. Ive watched nearly ten games this season with crowds, and have come into close contact with no one. I’m in the open air, always at least 2 metres from anyone else, what is the problem ? I go to work everyday with 60 other people and come closer to my fellow workers than I have at these football matches. I go shopping at a supermarket and come closer to people than I do at football matches. Stay sensible is my motto, if you aren’t able to, then that’s your choice. -

Temperatures weren’t being taken tonight, which surprised me, as this has happened at other games I have gone to. Every game I have watched so far this season ( approx 8 ) have done track and trace. -

I was at Taunton v Wantage tonight in the fa cup, a crowd of 353, ( they are allowed a maximum of 600) no issues at all, people social distancing and plenty of stewards policing this. As long as people are sensible, I really can’t see why grounds cannot be open for fans at all levels with 20% of the capacity allowed to watch. -

I’m not up to date on money spent on transfers by every club, but Chelsea have spent an absolute fortune recently. It makes my blood boil that Chelsea and other Prem clubs are still spending fortunes, whilst teams further down the pyramid are really struggling. The Premier league is where all the cash is, they need to have a look at what they are doing, and the message they are sending out. -

Holland also had crowds, a game I saw on tv yesterday had a quarter allowed to watch, 6k in a 24k capacity stadium. I can’t remember the home team, but they were playing PSV. -

BREAKING: The EFL will stage pilots with up to 1,000 fans at matches this weekend, following approval from the government. EFL clubs were asked to put in requests by Today in order for their plans to be signed off in time. -

This is exactly what the Aussies are doing with the New Zealand teams that play in the Australian A league, and the NRL ( rugby league). Both these squads, Wellington Phoenix football, and the NZ Warriors rugby league, will then stay in Australia for the entire duration of the season, and will not be able to play any home games back in NZ, even though NZ is free of Coronavirus now. -

Agreed, this isn’t a lockdown for the thousands ( millions?) of us who have been forced to work all the way through. The factory I work at isn’t making essential items, even though they have given us a card saying we are, if we are stopped by the Police ? Basically I self isolate for 16 hours a day, then go to work for 8 hours and play virus Russian roulette with 50 other people. -
Never to be forgotten ?

Par for the course nowadays unfortunately. They couldn’t even put anything up about Jon Economy’s death until prompted.

Re your last sentence, I’ve found it, it is.

This really is a great write up, and very true. http://intotheterraces.co.uk/2019/03/04/boycott-or-boyc-not/

Few of us are in New Zealand on holiday, currently watching a big rugby match in Auckland. Some things just have to be done don’t they ??

Good article in the New Zealand Herald. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=12168475

It’s a strange decision, rugby supporters ( as far as I’m aware) prefer to watch the game from the sides of the pitch rather than behind the posts. So for me it’s surprising that they aren’t using the Dolman rather than the South stand.
