Even the Lansdown has a decent ratio of empty seats tbh. Some games more than others, it varies.

As established. Under Manning The Lansdown is the alternative home end, so almost as infuriating!

There is a home end - the South Stand - surely? Plus the amount of time we pass the ball sideways we're more often kicking towards the Lansdown or Dolman stands anyway.

This whole "standing creates a better atmosphere" is a myth anyway. Equally, atmosphere only really matters to the fans, not the players.

Superb. I agree under Mr Manning the home end is the Dolman/Lansdown stand.

Regarding the South Stand. It’s infuriating that the area behind the goal has huge open spaces unless we happen to be playing Leeds or West Ham. That really is the crux of the matter. How many other clubs have their most vociferous supporters tucked up in the corner and for damn good reason?

I simply don’t agree about “standing creates a better atmosphere is a myth” It’s simply not true. There is a reason you stand to sing a hymn or an anthem or any song. You breathe better and your voice casts further than sitting as your lungs are all bunched up thus ratcheting up the atmosphere.

The Taylor report  and all seating stadia was designed to ratchet down the atmosphere and stop the crushes. However these days are over 35 years on and there is significant difference in football and life in general.

I don’t know you and have no idea about you. However did you stand on The EE between 72 and 81? And if so do you really believe the atmosphere was not better?

  4. The utter idiocy of the idea of switching the Home End to the newly covered Open End all those years ago really got on my nerves. I remember attending a supporters club meeting in London at the time and was pretty annoyed.

The thought Sags were on the EE in that awful cup for failure still rankles.

However the idea that there is no Home End at all is much worse. We play so often toward an empty stand. While offering the likes of <name club here> the ability to simultaneously play towards the away support could only happen at bloody Bristol City.

I’m not so sure about that but we will see.

I’m not sure about “sordid” either, but certainly bizarre game!

I do have a certain amount of sympathy for SL. I think he has always done what he thinks is right, but often isn’t and has ran out of energy for Bristol City/Sport.

  8. Some might say Brian is digging his own hole!

I said the other day I was at his first game and the guy fully deserved his testimonial. A right proper shithead as the song goes!

I’ve got to say I was pretty fed up with Danny Wilson not even having Leroy Lita on the bench, that was a sackable on its own. But Brian coming in with such huge backing from SL was a bit of a surprise!

Fast forward player rebellions, sackings, coaching in Spain, coming back and finding his own path way through the academy and scouting and now an FA Youth Cup Semi you have to say the bloke has his niche.

He is without doubt excellent within his niche, however we had a highly regarded CEO recommended by Mr Scudamore fired and it seems replaced by Brian. We were told we were in good hands under Nigel Pearson, who was obviously building a squad under huge injury restraints fired in the weirdest circumstances!

Brians fingerprints are all over the massively unpopular decision to fire Mr Pearson and the nuts decision that came before it.

Obviously Brian (and others) is feeling backlash on the back of awful performances, booing of a victory and huge amounts of empty seats right at renewal time. ALL RIGHT IN FRONT OF SL!

Going on the radio was not a short notice decision made in isolation by Brian. It simply can’t have been as he is now spokesman for the club. (Even Goebbels had a boss!)

I would not have wanted Brian to go! I just wanted him to do what he’s good at!!

Brian needs to follow direction when it comes to first team affairs, not be the director as he will do what he does, make terrible decisions, because he can!….He is now in a very deep hole of his own digging, which unless something changes quickly is going to effect the bottom line unless he strikes gold down there!

Tinnion tells us he was the best player in Ireland.
He also tells us in yesterdays interview that he hasn’t featured yet as he is still in “pre season” as the Irish league only finished in November!!

    November mind!!

His last game was 3rd November. So he’s had 4 months and 10 days off so far.
This would be the equivalent of it now being 18th September if you take the same number of days since we ended our season on 8th May.

Interestingly, the other “best player in Ireland” (my opinion), Jack Moylan, also finished on 3rd November but has now made 10 appearances for Lincoln. They gradually integrated him and he’s now started the last 2 and scored 4 goals. A couple of ‘wow’ goals too.

Anyway, my point is, 2 players who finished the Irish season on 3rd November. 1 has now made 10 league 1 appearances, the other is so-say still in pre-season and hasn’t even had a single minute for our under 21’s.

What’s REALLY going on with him?? Is Brian telling us porkies again. There’s no way this kid is still in early pre season mode. Why has he not played a single minute for the 21’s at the very least??

Four month pre season! I can see that.

We’ve been here before, people saying they won’t renew, then we get a record number of season ticket holders the following season and The Lansdowns sit back and think all is rosey. When Pearson got sacked there was outrage but no one made a sound about it a few days later at Ashton Gate against Sheff Wednesday

I 100% agree. We are a passive bunch.

We have no home end, yet we have an away end behind the goal.

We play in what is often a library and if people get animated there is always someone to tell you what is and is not acceptable.

However the outrage on here over the obvious lies and untruths and the employing of an untested league one manager to replace Pearson was greeted with shock overwhelmingly on here but not at the ground.

However our natural passiveness has been put to one side now.

We play rubbish football and the untruths of those making horrifying decisions are now coming out .

To this extent you have a main player in the saga going on radio to make statements excusing Manning for injuries while justifying squads reflecting a run at the FA Youth Cup, thus forcing the current manager to play Andy King a major factor in Pearson being fired!

You can’t make this place up. I can remember the last time we were called  a basket case club in the press. Here we are again!

Brian is the latest fall guy, theres been 20 odd years of crap decisions and appointments before tinnion got that role, and there will be a lot more shoddy decisions still to come if he loses that role. Hes being blamed for wanting to be better next season, and blamed for wanting the youth team to win the youth cup in this thread! I think it his fault twine got injured, and for scott being sold and lansdown not releasing some of the funds for the striker we all knew we needed too.

Tinman as manager was one of those crap decisions Tinman is Director of Football was another.

We all want to be better next season, so they sacked the manager in the most bizarre circumstances out and out lying and Brian was a big part of that.

We all want to win the youth cup too, but it seems completely lost that Pearson was having to play those players because he had no one else and one of the last straws was Brian criticizing Pearson for playing Andy King before one of the youth team.

Mr Lansdown is releasing funds to Mr Manning but didn’t to Nigel Pearson. What does all of that tell you?

I agree, but pearson calling out the lansdowns in public over his contract made his own position untenable, and he clearly would have known that. and im not sure he would consider a move upstairs at that point to be something he would want to bother with, especially if fleming and euell were to be moved on as well.

Tell me where on here people were demanding he went on the radio tonight? Moron

I’m not sure about the term calling out. He said there was no one available at the top of the club and a week or two later he said “if I still have a job”

Fact is he told it like it was and it was obvious he was on his way. Saying it was that, that cost him his job is bizarre. The way he saw it that decision was already made.

Nevertheless a year or so earlier when he said Jon was entitled to his opinion as Chairman but was wrong is what got under juniors skin!

Going away from bashing Tinnion for a minute, did they say at the start of the show that we have made history by reaching the semis of the youth cup?

I thought we reached that stage in the early 70s and someone on here posted a team sheet from the time.?

I thought that, but he was referring to the academy. I guess they make a distinction regarding what ever we had then and it also gave Brian a bit of Kudos before he got reamed.

  16. After a few hours to review my considered thoughts are

Brian was told/agreed to go on SOTC.

Brian bless him has a lot of attributes, but dealing with marginally tough questions isn’t one of them, particularly as he is implicated in what ever is going on, on a match day

Brian was a part of the process to fire Mr Pearson and recommended Mr Manning

Brian is the fall guy if everything goes bad.

SL noticed the big gaps in the stadium and couldn’t fail but notice the utter shit in front of him and the boos.

Some serious conversations are being had with our coaching staff

It seems that you would be happier supporting Oxo. Good luck with that,

    Heaven knows I need it!

However more on topic. Brian has been a great servant. I think I was at his first game (away at Swindon, if not first very close).

But this isn’t the first time things have blown up around him!

I’m not sure Danny Wilson would be surprised by any of this.

The decision to sack Pearson was ultimately Mr Marshall and Mr Lansdown’s decision almost certainly rubber stamped by SL.

To what extent that decision was driven by Brian we will never know, but we do know now with some certainty that Brian was a part of the process of bringing Mr Manning in and this awful football we play.

As it’s been pointed out season ticket renewals are on the horizon and we are dreadful to watch. Follow the money. I would also be very surprised to think that going on the radio was a decision taken by Brian in isolation. A winning team got booed this weekend!

Give Brian my best wishes for the Youth Cup, getting to the final goes someway to saving a season that’s been miserable since October!

Unbelievable. What a tag line to go with to attract new players to the club "we want to be ten points better off in 12 months". Well I'll tell you what Tinnion, we should be ten points better off right now, and I'd put good money on Pearson being able to do that if he wasn't given the unjust boot he was! Clowns!!

It’s a funny one. He obviously didn’t want to heap anymore pressure on Manning. So he just said the first thing that came to mind.

To be fair ten points extra now would have us in the chasing Pack with nine or so to go and most of us would take that!

The interviewer gave him a good run for his money and made him very uncomfortable. Good.

The “Board” would have listened to that!

That was Brian taking it in the shorts for junior.
