  1. Sunderland will not be so intent on stopping us play, they need a win as much as we would like one. Wigan were very much on the draw is a good away result side. I expect Bell Wells and Sykes to start and us to continue on the counter attack away from home against a team that will be pushing forward. The wild cards are who will start out of Weimann the boy from Wigan and dare I say it Scott. We have a very decent squad now so take your pick in several positions. However I expect the back four and goalkeeper as you were plus James and Williams.
  2. Wigan played well. They came to stop us playing through them by winning tackles and forcing us to go long. Wigan also did well to push our defense but really only had one chance that came from a scuffed free kick that alluded everyone. That’s life For our part, the new lad from Wycombe had a decent home debut, Cornick isn’t at it yet as a starter and Andy Weimann needs games. Pearson buys players that he sees can be developed and so far has a decent track record at that. I’m not sure what he sees in Cornick that can be developed but that’s a question for Mr Pearson, but be assured he does. But for the woodwork the poddy would be completely different and a lot less critical/I would have done. But there we are Sunderland don’t fancy us either right now so let’s see how they do on Saturday.

    Good point

We did hit too many long balls. This was because we were unable to play through them and lost possession in the tackle 70% of the time. Thus we kept playing the ball sideways and backwards for James or Vyner to go long. Credit to Wigan. However That is why we bought the boy from Wycombe to actually unlock these sorts of teams and to be fair to him he supplied the cross for our goal and if I’m not mistaken hit the post.
  4. Steve Jones. Tiny penis’ finest signing!
  5. Wigan are fighting for their lives, a new manager and set out a game plan. We were given nothing and didn’t win the ball as much as we have recently. We’re we not as good as we have been recently, obviously yes, did we play at our usual tempo, obviously no! The Ideawe were poor that some have offered is in the context of how well we have played lately. Were we really poor, then you need to look at WBA, because that was poor! in this division almost anyone can beat anyone, which is why is so tight. Lots of other clubs will have similar games and results between now and the end of May Take the point and move on to Sunderland they certainly don’t want us right now!
  6. Was I the only one alive in the 70s? Being charged at West Ham and being hit by debris at Aldershot etc etc etc etc. This kids on the pitch stuff all seems a bit 21st and a 1/4 century.
  7. Oh Dear. That might make your eyes water ?
  8. The poddy was good today @headhunter@Curr Avon et al. Listened to it while watching Man U. Ian is a lot more measured than the bad old days of his Pearson out rants. I like ?? it. As for ten wins from sixteen, I agree with Mr Gay. It is possible but the odds are against it. However as was stated last week we need to continue a run. Wigan will be up for it on Wednesday, but I’m hopeful we will have too much. If we subsequently get something from Sunderland then, just ? maybe!
  9. I like Ian (and @Curr Avon) leaving the latter to one side, Ian despite everything IMO is a supporter who wants the best for the club and isn’t afraid to say what he thinks. Yes you may not agree with some of it and he does get over the top down when we loose but that’s what the off button is for. What I typically do is not listen to the poddy for a while during wrist slashing weeks, but always go back until the next time I have to leave it alone. Incidently Not sure why anyone would block @Davefevs on any media, the bloke is a rockstar on here. I just see him as a more measured and thoughtful version of Ian with a spreadsheet!
  10. Unfortunately it’s a fact of life that the club were a mess and that had to be dealt with. Threads being hijacked, clearly you think so, but I’m not sure it’s the case, either way it’s a measure of where we were and where we are!
  11. Assuming Tanner never gets injured of course.
  12. It’s not ancient history though is it! We still have players on those eye watering wages and we have to sell players to mitigate that! it’s current history.
  13. I think Bell ? himself would be gutted if he was on the bench on Wednesday. But it may or may not be a bad thing!
  14. I agree! Kids Need to stay off the pitch and the adult is responsible if they don’t! However I know nothing of the incident and make no judgement on the behavior of the stewarding, nevertheless if the parent makes the steward the defacto parent due to in attendance then they should behave appropriately!
  15. Exactly who knows what any manager would do. However what Pearson has done is change the culture of the club by Getting rid of LJs dross over an extended period Bought well out of the lower leagues and spent time developing those players. Turned Semenyo into a goalscorer (who started that thread) and sold him for up to 12m with add ons Developed Scott into the best player outside of the premier league Turned Bell and ConwAy into the best young poachers in the division Turned Vyner into player of the season material Given Wells a new lease of life and a contract and developed Weimann into team captain Turned OLeary into a number one that’s as good as anything Put us on a sound financial footing I could go on and on and on. But you are right. Who knows what someone else would have done with Johnson/Ashton and Lansdowns FFP train wreck. What I always find interesting is people saying we had the players to play <enter formation adding up to ten here> obviously we had bodies in the main but you develop systems of play. Thus saying trite shit like I don’t know why we didn’t do XYZ earlier is because those players needed to be developed to play that way. Which of course will be the answer when anyone actually asks the bloke who’s getting paid 100s of thousands to do the job. Someone tell me what was the average age of out back four and goalkeeper today. And what was the average age of our team.
  16. Yes we are so much less likely to concede from dead balls than we were. Without doubt everyone noticed some wayward kicking today. I think max has kicking practice in his future!

    Today's Ref

I didn’t notice him that much (except for what was a clear red card for the push) What I did notice is what a good team we are right now!
  18. Don’t be an idiot. We’ll need him in the Premier League
  19. We were brilliant all across the pitch and from the bench. We have the feeling of a side that will do everything for the cause. Our back four are excellent. We look like we can defend dead balls and we have runners in Bell Weimann Wells Cornick and the lad from Wycombe with Conway to come back. No one wants to play us right now!
