  1. I thought we were unusually wasteful up front today. We’re generally quite ruthless in terms of putting away a good proportion of the chances we create. But today felt like we created a fair bit but just never really clinical enough with the final ball/shot. But, overall, great performance and deserved point.
  2. Probably the most blatant one in all this time - it was almost a rugby tackle.
  3. Good (for him) to see that he hasn’t had it entirely coached out of him. It’s just not the way Bristol City play football - and just maybe is a part of the explanation for our penalty drought.
  4. And tonight he was brought down for the penalty that was Auxerre’s first goal in a 2-1 win.
  5. But, as far as I’m aware, there’s nothing in the laws of the game that either allows or requires the referee to take “phases of play” into account when blowing for time. They end each half when the 45 minutes, plus any additional time, is up. That’s all. The only exception - which is specified in the laws - is to allow a penalty kick to be taken. (Whatever that is!).
  6. I also fail to understand the checks Winterstoke Rd/Raynes Road. But if that ruins the days experience, then probably best not go to Sunderland tomorrow or your week will be ruined!
  7. He gave us more than a minute as it was. And he blows for time on the basis of his watch, not who’s got the ball and what they’re about to do. If he’d let us get another cross in and it goes out for a corner…then what? Remember that ref in the World Cup years ago who blew for time just as the striker hit the ball but before it crossed the line?!!!
  8. Perhaps we should invite the French more often than the Welsh…… https://www.euronews.com/2023/02/15/porn-video-shot-during-nice-lille-game-club-files-official-complaint-over-movie-damage
  9. He’d already added a fair bit to the 4 mins: he was always going to blow as soon as it went out of the penalty area.
  10. Yes, frustrating that Naismith rarely appears able to get a corner past the first defender. However, free kicks - especially from the positions we won quite a few of this evening - have been a different matter and I think we missed them hugely this evening.
  11. Thanks…great memories. There were a couple of weird ones in there though: he seems to be all alone in the penalty area and everyone else outside the box, just watching him. What was that all about?
  12. I’m trying to imagine NP inheriting a squad that had JET in it ?
  13. Still missing. Sky reporting that his room and even two pairs of his shoes have been found, but he’s not been located. He’s a well known footballer, but there must be so many other friends and families in this position out there…truly awful.
  14. Angels and Devils…..Echo & The Bunnymen
  15. Or…..we need a point to get into the play offs. 0-0 in the 6th minute of added time when Alex Scott brings down an opponent and the ref points to the spot. And up steps Chris Martin……..
  16. I think it’s fair to say that the general consensus this morning was it’s likely to be Southampton and Bournemouth, and the a preference for Everton, maybe West Ham??
  17. Benchmark against the one on Scott yesterday, which I think pretty much no-one thought was a pen!
  18. I believe the Port Vale stats were based on UK and Ireland. Although that’s based purely on the local paper report! https://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/port-vale-verge-football-history-7609370 There are figures for a wider, European, context mentioned elsewhere in this thread, but I’ve not seen any of those that go into ‘all time record’ territory.
  19. 2016, eh? That must have been the year for delusions of grandeur that come crashing down with a growing realisation 7 years later that it was all based on lies, false promises, unachievable objectives.
  20. Apprehended in connection with a recent crime, swore and shouted racial slurs before spitting on the officer. No problem at all with what she did - especially if it prevents him spitting again.
