I have a mate moved to North Bristol  close to the dark side. I also have a contractor who i get on with who is a rovers fan and has a few city fans in his area.

so I was  wondering who live with in a 2 mile radius    of the Rovers Ground and how do they find it

Is your name Ernie? Do you come from Barrow Gurney? Or is it because half-term holiday has started?

Finished the season in fine style my ar*e. We played 2 relegated teams and one fighting relegation and failed to score a single goal from open play in 270 minutes.

I failed to see anything free flowing at home to Huddersfield. It was another drab boring 99 minutes.

Shhh. Don’t tell Ipswich or Norwich. Your secret is safe with me.

Ipswich are now in the Premier league. Manning is still learning the ropes in the Championship I wont say he's out of his depth as we have played some good football at times,  however he has no plan B his tactics and substitutions are questionable sometimes so there is no way he is Premiership ready.

Every talks about the end of season unbeaten run (before the deckchairs came out at Stoke) but we couldnt score in open play against this seasons whipping boys Rotherham only a dive in the box from Tommy and a great free kick from Twine settled it. Hudderfield should have had all 3 points bar a late late penalty to send us home with a lucky point We were poor against Sunderland (should have lost) and Plymouth we were bang average. The only convincing win was against Blackburn and a very good point at Norwich.

So if Ipswich want to take a gamble they are welcome to him but clearly not ready thats just my opinion

Look carefully-that's not how I see it. We don't want to lose him so I understand your post but let's face reality here. Manning has created a free flowing, possession based team that has finished the season in fine style. His experience with the City group means that his near success in the Championship will definitely translate into a top ten finish in the PL. He is ready...in fact, he was born ready. Ipswich for a couple of seasons and then he'll be ready to replace Pep.

  4. In the Times today interview with Harry Thacker Bristol Bears hooker. No further comment necessary

‘Bristol’s transformation can be credited to a frank changing-room discussion….Steven Lansdown, the club’s billionaire owner, made it clear he was “bored with rugby”…….

Lansdown wanted Bristol to cast off the shackles, urging them to prioritise excitement over results.’

While I certainly agree SR, what (as I think it might / could be, given their relatively high salaries) if it's James OR Williams? What would you do then?

Well I know he’s done better this season and we do need a Rottweiler in there, but to be honest I’ve never felt that potential has been fulfilled with JW. Given the choice, I’d have to plump for Jamo. But the clubs, as they say, are already in the bag. Unless you can replace with guaranteed better, keep both.

  6. I know it’s been done to death but we must keep James. Even if he only plays 10-15 games next season, he is still the most intelligent footballer at the club. He has so much experience to pass on and you cannot underestimate his influence.

  7. Unless we have changes at the top and a new coach, we will do very well to avoid being in a relegation battle next season.
The negative atmosphere permeating the club and fanbase will prove to be a self fulfilling prophesy.
As far as quality reinforcements are concerned we won’t attract them with the wages we pay and tbh why would real quality want to come to us anyway?
Apart from Cardiff, Swansea, Preston, Stoke and possibly QPR the other Championship sides appear to be more attractive.

Twine excellent against Rotherham, he has been largely peripheral. Every time Liams interviewed at the moment though if I’m Burnley I’m shoving another couple of 100k on the price! Fine if he wants him but it’s not exactly negotiating 101…!!!

For negotiation’s sake……Rotherham gave us that much room in midfield, BT could have still done a job. And if he’d have been playing, we’d have scored a goal in open play.

I've generally kept quiet and supported Manning, though I never wanted Pearson sacked.

There seems a general acceptance from the people around me who are not vocal that this is not working and unfortunately it isn't going  to.

A really poor appointment by the people the above him. The club is in dissaray, this has been covered up by points earned earlier in the season. God help us if this the future.

I have never felt as low or, what is worse, as disinterested in what is going on. I’ve loved the fact that a local man is the owner of our football club. In 50+ years I’ve seen it all. Stood in the enclosure when Whitehead took us to the promised land, stood twenty years later when we were away at Brentford shouting that we want a change; highs and lows and many in between! Highs and lows and I’ve not even mentioned the early 80s.
However we have turned it round on many occasions and I’ve always felt we could do it again. Not now, though.
I won’t forget what  Steve and Maggie have done for our club but this has become beyond a joke. I’m not laughing and despite all the Top Six and we beat Southampton jokes, I don’t believe anyone else is laughing either. I fukking hated Tiny Pulis and sometimes found LJ’ s sh1t hard to take but fukk me, Manning is a total waste of space. He feels nothing for our club and he has no idea how to engage with the media, with us or indeed, the players.
I loved Tinman as a player but the very fact that he is where he is shows how the Lansdowns and he don’t have a clue.
There is only one way for this not to end disastrously (in League 1 and potentially beneath the Gas) is for a total total change from the top down.
    Until that happens, I’m out!
