In fact Wycombe weren’t really interested they just pretended to be so that the Gas upped their offer and wasted more of their transfer war biscuit tin.

Deft work by Wilson and his agent.

How easily Rovers supporters fell for the story that a transfer virtually announced two weeks ago was held up because of the players’ holiday in Ibiza. And how easily Mr Al-Quidi and Mr Gorringe were duped into believing they must accede to Wilson’s demands because Wycombe Wanderers were waiting in the wings.

Mr Barton and Mr Jennings weren’t duped but it’s not their money.

If anybody challenges the rhetoric on Gaschat they will be instantly banned is the answer.

A few people did attempt to challenge the rhetoric.

If you look carefully at the photograph you can still see strands of greying hair poking out from under the piling mats.

So ... fixture release breakfast was ok.

TG happy with Pompey and Barnsley up first.

Two possibly three in by Monday as mentioned above... Was very clear that Club are aiming for a top six finish and will be recruiting players that will have the ability to get us there. WAQ is fully supporting financially. He has seen the quality of what has been signed elsewhere we were not in for any of them.

Apologies from me to Eddy Jennings - Even on the morning of his wedding he was trying to tie up a new deal and gave himself the challenge of getting the player over the line on his wedding day.

Everything on course for the new stand - We should not believe what we read in the media as all things are progressing well.

Everything felt a little rushed today but TG was coolest man in the room - we are in very good hands.

Also learnt today from an attendee that our highest paid player as things stand is Big JM - by some distance as well. Made me think even more that AC will need parity or will almost certainly move on as his salary was far lower.

A few highlighted bits here. Let's see how things unfold then shall we?

Why do they just lap it up continuously without question?

******* braindeads the lot of them.

Do you Edward Buster Jennings take this woman to be your lawful wedded wife ?

Shut up yer divvy I got Barry Fry on the phone

Herbert (Herbie) Gillam was a local reporter, specialising on Rovers from way back in the day.

Gillam would have regularly interviewed Rovers manager Bert Tann, who is referencing him here.

    Thanks, and "Up the Sandgrounders"

  5. Rovers in a nutshell.

"What's the definition of luxury? If the south stand has a concourse that's out of the elements then that's pretty standard for a modern ground.
Oxford, Derby all the same really. Coventry, just more space. MK Dons, just bigger concourse and a good view. A temporary stand that does the same as those listed, I'll take that"

    Think I’ve sussed it now.

The stand will be two-tiered due to ground stability issues. The lower tier, the expensive tickets, subterranean viewing their  ‘Championship ready’ sprinkler system. The upper tier, above ground, the cheap tickets with a view of a pillar, with ‘pillar and pitch glimpses’ for the lowest priced. That explanation would seem to fit nicely with their ‘pre-school child’ stand graphic and increased capacity claims.

    Subterranean homesick blues ?

Normally, a lot of work on computers would be undertaken to calculate angles between properties to ensure any potential loss of light is calculated and design adjusted to ensure ‘acceptable levels’. Additionally, detailed analysis would normally be done to ensure anybody new development is not  ‘overbearing’ on neighbouring properties.

An alternative approach, to quote myself at a public inquiry ‘this development was designed on the back of a fag packet, the only problem being they didn’t even manage that’.

Wonder which design method has been adopted for The Sags Cow Shed?

Do you think they've considered how, many years ago, the raised level platform which forms the Memorial Ground was created ?

Is the terra firma sub-structure suitable for the load bearing pillars needed if an "Atyeo" sized grandstand is to be constructed ?

Not having had the pleasure of a trip to the Mem, I have a basic question.

Was the tent not for away fans? If so is that end changing to home fans or a mix of the 2? If so then surely it will need a separation space between them which loses seats. They can't have home and away sharing the luxury concourse either. I must have missed something? Or maybe just the away fans are moving elsewhere.

David, the maitre dim, is offering two main concourses with afters to follow.

Completely and utterly tinpot! Two days to take direct action, by visiting the club shop (wherever that is, not that I GAF) with just one day’s notice. Any STH living outside of Bristol must be well pissed off.

Looking more closely at the proposed new structures, if you end up in a seat located on the leftmost side of the smaller stand, will you actually be able to see the goal at your end of the pitch - especially when (probably ’if’) the larger stand is full? Maybe a big selling point!

Looking even more closely at the new structure it appears as though Fred Dibnah must have been contracted to move the floodlight pylon.

Since Wael took sole ownership the limit for the revolving credit facility being based upon the £10m charge held has gone away.

It did indeed look like a hard limit, such that the credit limit would be hit and that meant no more money, when there was family ownership of Dwane Sports but that's no longer the case, the loan has exceeded it by a large amount in the past.

Taking out a commercial loan for the stand is a good way of bringing some proper financial rigour to the organisation, I thought similar when the Lansdowns financed the stadium construction with a third party loan so making the stadium pay for itself by its revenues paying the interest on and repaying those capital loans.  It is then easy to see whether it is a genuine commercial success or just another "Steve, send us another cheque, mate, we've spent the last one" venture reminiscent of the Gary Johnson and Mark Ashton days.

Financially they are very similar to us, albeit on a much smaller scale, they have a wealthy owner who spent loads of money but hasn;t advanced teh league position much and is now trying to bring the club into better financial shape.

I'm not waving a flag for them because I cannot see how any club can have such a dreadful person as their manager, but financially they are in no worse a position than we are.

Must admit in my initial desire to take the piss out of the one behind the goal I completely missed the “structure” to the right, that basically is a bus shelter, isn’t it? Looks ridiculous.

With regards to planning permission it isn’t my field of expertise but I’m sure you can carry on with all preparatory work in advance (if you’re brave you can actually crack on without it at risk you’ll have to dismantle).

There are huge backlogs outstanding as a result of the pandemic but replacing one structure with a similar height one is highly unlikely to be contentious & so provided it does get nodded through I can’t see it being a problem.

    Looks absolutely shit, though.

The claimed capacity of the new structure is triple that of the existing tent.

And from the drawing it looks as though it will be the same height as the West Stand which would mean a doubling of the current elevation.
