  1. Spot on. I thought for an hour Bakinson was not only our best player but was having one of his best games for us, whilst James was so so. However as soon as the latter went off Tyreeq’s game went to pieces. We are badly missing Williams and even as a squad man, King. HNM simply couldn’t get into it last night, either.
  2. Don’t think for a minute his heart isn’t in it, he just is a different type than many other managers. I don’t think he’s the type who will walk out, he comes across as dispassionate about results but think that’s just a front. He has 1 part of his old team around him, the others aren’t available. My hunch is unless it gets really bad, so bottom three, he’s here for the season.
  3. Fair comment. Our overall track record is pretty poor but that’s not a good reason for never trying his route. We went down the Scottish route with McInnes & that failed, whereas Norwich appointed Neil in the same way & it worked. Looks like it is us, rather than the type..
  4. Agree & it is the case that no one wanted Lowe when Pearson was appointed. He’s doing very well but like anyone who has never managed at this level it is a gamble. I think Pearson needs time & do understand the circumstances he’s working under but it is the manner of last night’s defeat that depresses me, as in games lost earlier in the season (Swansea for one) you could see organisation & a plan, you couldn’t see either at Brum.
  5. So you are saying that we should have stuck with Holden then?
  6. Seemed bizarre to me that at 2-0 when let’s face it, the game was over, he didn’t bring on Bell & give him 15-20 minutes to see what he could do. That Martin stayed on all game, when he was struggling & could definitely have done with a breather was unfathomable.
  7. Fair. I’m pro Pearson but our defensive record is awful & as Russell Osman showed, you can organise a defence without spending big money. We need to concede far fewer goals because we sure won’t score many.
  8. By a distance. I’ve been very critical of him but if he keeps that standard up I’ll have no complaints.

    Warnock

I get people rate him, I just think he’s unpleasant & his style of football is shit.

Boro fans wanted him out a few weeks ago. Be interesting to see if their tune has changed after some better results, though he had another poor one on Saturday. I hate the bloke, the football is total shit & his treatment of match day officials & constant moaning about them post match is appalling Glad I have never had to watch him manage us.
  11. This Martin stuff makes me laugh. I don’t agree with our tactic of him starting every game but that’s hardly his fault, it’s on Nige & not replacing Famara. I suppose his assist for the winner on Saturday was “lumbering about ineffectively”? The late winner at Peterborough? The goals in the wins at QPR & Reading? The goal line clearance on Saturday? The goal that should have got us 3 points on the opening day? This season his contribution dwarfs anything Palmer has done in the entire time since he signed for us.
  12. Funnily enough I remember him for Blackburn against us & thought the complete opposite. Unfortunately LJ & Ashton didn’t & despite a pretty mediocre loan spell we still signed him. We will really struggle to offload him before his contract expires.
  13. Not misremembering at all. JET was brilliant in an awful side under SOD then a very useful squad player under Cotts, he got 24 goals in 52 starts & 30 sub appearances for a bloke that we signed for nothing. We have had far worse & in his first season he was literally the only player worth watching.
  14. Think we probably had more out of JET than any other club in his career. No fan of Dziekanowski but he was on the way down when we got him, his best years were at Celtic. Tomlin has been a waster everywhere he’s been, rowed with Eddie Howe at Bournemouth & Cardiff recently paid his contract up, we’re not exactly unique to have had issues with him.
  15. So far Holden, Steve Cooper & Pearson have all left him out. The issue isn’t the manager, it’s the player.
  16. We’ve won at Cardiff three years running & won at Swansea in 2 our last 3 visits..
  17. The land that The Mem is on would be worth a tidy sum if sold for housing, as property is expensive in that part of Bristol plus I can think of one well connected person who would like to help them if at all possible..
  18. I doubt that very much.
  19. After Ismael & this chap, their owners seem to favour the foreign route.
  20. How can you be lucky if one of your players does his job? The determination of Kalas, Atkinson, Tanner & non defenders like Martin to protect our goal, along with poor finishing by Barnsley won us the game.
  21. Every day of the week. Great post, we were denied a clear penalty v Forest, Jimmy Sirrell once said the best team always wins, the rest is rumour. We have the points that we deserve & bad (or good) luck is just bollocks.
  22. My hunch is that he knows & understands a great deal about finance, but knows nothing about football. What I don’t get is how he was taken in by a double glazing salesman like Ashton, because if you do your due diligence & speak to anyone who was involved with Watford that wasn’t in his little gang, you then look elsewhere.
  23. Put in a great shift & alongside Bentley, Kalas, Atkinson & Weimann (who wasn’t as good, but got our 2 vital goals) was a big reason as to why we won. One point about Simpson though, as the players walked around the pitch afterwards he had his arms around Tanner & was clearly saying to him well done, a good team man, if not the answer now. Should have read this!
