What actually goes through the minds of these Championship refs; do they train, are we recruiting the wrong people, do they need to be made full time…

Looked up both their ages as the game was on, Smith a no-no on that basis, but LM will no doubt have some suitors!

Yeah perhaps, but in the absence of an hypothetical other, I don't view this season as a failure. Game of opinions and all that.

Who knew that appointing a proven football manager, with experience in the top flight, would have stopped the rot, secured our Championship status, and provided green shoots of recovery?! All the while cultivating multi-million pound assets that will likely balance the books having contributed to an upswing in form.

I live/work in Cov, and have seen a fair amount of them this season. Off the back of that, I am feeling quietly confident tonight. They had hatfulls of chances against Barnsley at the weekend, and only just about managed to overcome them. For all of O'Hare's talent, he is just not a goalthreat & doesn't contribute much by way of assists as his undoubted talent would otherwise suggest. Gyokeres blows hot & cold, on his night can be a handful though. If we can score two, I can't see them outscoring us. I like Kyle McFadzean and it was a real shame that we didn't sign him all those moons ago (?viral illness), but if Antoine & Andi start running at him directly then we might get some change out of him. Hopefully Dabo still misses out as he's half decent, Maatsen (chelsea loanee) @ LWB (possibly in a 3-4-2-1 away from home), will need to be watched closely. In summary, if we play to our strengths, and given our home form, I think we have a lot to look forward to later. Cov fans not unanimously keen on Robins either so if we strike early, may well flatten their crowd a little.

Let's hope this optimistic post doesn't age poorly!!!

There's no shame in being 'just' a Championship footballer, as there's no shame is us 'just' being a Championship football club (what our neighbours would give for that after all), however, if aspire to compete at the correct end of the table then COD, along with Vyner & Moore, potentially Max etc, may need to be replaced with better than we have. Thing is, historically, players such as the aforementioned are as good as we can hope for, given our status over the past 40 years, so the bigger question is whether SL et al have the ambition to be better than these players. otherwise, we might as well stick with them...

Several posters have said it’s only about shot saving.  I’ve disagreed with that.  He hasn’t made many (any?) big mistakes that have led to goals. But…

My but feel is yes.  Therefore I recall Bentley (subject to Covid) on Wednesday.

You're talking out your ass! I actually agree, Bents needs to come back, I can't feasibly see how he will make the defence worse.

Poor from Cam, I like him a lot but a couple times now his naivety in game management terms has cost us recently.

Great result, and even better considering the two enforced changes early doors. Real grit & character beginning to show from 1-11 and dareisay almost looking forward to what next season might bring (nurse!!!).

I just don’t know what Martin brings to the team…slow old cart horse!!!
