I might (probably), but I always thought it came from the early days of sport when Gentleman V Amateurs type matches were common?

The idea being that some farm hand would be less refined and hit rough shots in cricket and hand out even rougher tackles in football or rugby maybe?

Maybe similar etymology for 'industrial' language?!

Most people outside of Bristol would assume they were the non league side if you showed them this video.  They are so embarrassingly tin pot in every conceivable way.

I was egging them on for someone to say, realistically, 1-3, against the Gas!!!

Watford fans saying that he’d previously asked his bench to take him off. That’s why he was angry. Not unreasonably so. He’s 32 and looks like it could be a potentially career ending injury.

And in a day when we’re recognising Nathan Baker’s situation, you might expect something other than abuse in that situation.

Wonder if he could pursue a negligence claim against the medical staff, they have a duty of care!

Could be wrong, but have officials been instructed not to stop games this season? Hope the person involved recovers well. Horrible to see.

I know there has been some frustration from the crowd doctors & their teams, who feel that they are hampered to an extent when playing side medics get involved in the care of what are essentially their patients. Can lead to crossed-wires, compromised care etc, and stopping a match can arguably cause more issues; you wouldn't expect the crowd doctors to enter the FoP to deal with playing staff injuries/illness etc. I suspect this may have been fedback and so perhaps there will be less of a willingness to stop play in the future, will wait & see.

Hope the person in question is recovering well.

Thought Semenyo was a handful again today against another physical defence. Not long after the scuffle he got taken down via a horse-collar tackle by one of them who got booked and then subbed. AS did well to keep his cool, as I think they received instructions to wind him up. One of the first names on the team sheet for me.

No wonder he had a long face.

My observations of Williams is that he is a "pointer". When we are faced with an opposition player running at us in our half he very often finds himself in no man's land and will point at an opposing player, to no one in particular, in an effort to appear he is covering someone else but is actually doing nothing.

A bad case of the Kilkenny's!!!
