Update on this. As I can't sleep

Work decided yesterday would be the day to sack me for good measure.

    Tremendous

Imagine working for a company whose main point of business is to keep people in employment longer, by managing health conditions, sacking someone because of  shoulder and neck issues, that they've never bothered to investigate properly amongst a raft of other ironies.

Stress is for the weak, apparently *rolleyes*

So sorry to read this, that's an awful way for an employer to treat you.

You should contact ACAS for advice.  The company should have done a workplace risk assessment if the job was impinging on your well being, and taken reasonable steps to assist with overcoming the problems.

  2. Meanwhile, Raith Rovers have signed rapist David Goodwillie - and their CEO, who presumably would have sanctioned this, is female.  Prosecuters did not pursue the case through the Courts, but Godwillie and another player were ordered to each pay the victim £50,000 through a civil court hearing.

Life long supporter, novelist Val McDermid will no longer sponsor their shirts, and has destroyed her season ticket.

Yea, I did now. i don't know his voice at all but seems pretty bad. She doesn't look too scared though, but I let the profesionals decide what is this. If the police finds this story true, then Greenwood is a piece of ****. Mans hitting womens are retarded anyway.

Sometimes you have to defend yourself even against a woman these days but you don't hit her...you can do other things so nobody gets hurt.

"She doesn't look too scared though, .... "  Well, I'd bet my house that she looked bloody scared when it was actually happening.

By putting it on social media, he won't dare to do anything else to her, whereas if it was kept between her, him and the police - she probably wouldn't feel so safe, also a little bit of a time lapse waiting for the police intervention could be frightening for her.  I would want to name and shame the bastard as far and wide as I could - she's been very brave to speak out, and I hope he gets everything he deserves.

Myocarditis as a potential complication of serious (and even not so serious) viral infection?
Oh I’ve heard it mentioned long before 2021. It’s not a new thing, even amongst younger people.

Correct.  5 year ago I became very ill, and ended up being blue lighted to hospital.  After days of tests, they found that my heart was enlarged because it had been damaged by a virus, this then caused the heart not to pump properly, which had led to a silent heart attack - which I was unaware of at the time, as I didn't have the normal symptoms.  I'm in heart failure for life now, as my heart cannot be repaired, just helped a bit by loads of medication, and I really hope that this won't be the outcome for the Sunderland keeper.

LJ did say that it was heavily weighted towards Covid having caused it, and I think that the DM did their usual thing of asking a leading question, and then fleshing out the transcript of the interview to make it sound contreversial.

    Stay safe.

I was in 2 minds as to whether to post this considering the nature of some of the stories on here but I've just finished after life series 2, and the near end scene of the last episode with the pills and the dog barking at him. That one really hit home.

Totally with you on that - it hit some very raw memories for me.  I'm just about to start series 3.

Thanks dad's fine due home tomorrow, weekend helped was nice to get away, these things are sent to try us just tough when it's all at the same time.

Pleased to hear that your Dad is ok, and has received the treatment necessary to allow him to go home.  They do amazing things with heart treatment these days.  I had a silent heart attack 3 years ago, and they were able to identify the cause, and prescribe medication to keep everything in order.  Best wishes to your Dad, and I hope that you can feel some positivity now that he's coming home.

Sorry to hear about what you've been through Matt.  A few years ago my son had an operation on his back and they filled the wound with packing, which had to be changed daily.  He was able to go to the local walk in centre to have this done, we only found this out by accident when one of the regular nurses didn't turn up at home, and after several hours he was in a lot of pain because the packing was starting to stick to the wound.  It might be worth you looking into this.  Good luck.

My wife has stage 4 breast cancer.  There is no cure.

I cry every day: I talk every day.  The pain is going to get worse for me but I hate to think what it is like for her knowing that she is leaving us behind.

I don't think that we've talked as much as we have in the last 6 weeks: yes, we've talked but we'd never really talked if you know what I mean.

In the words of a northern soul song (Darrow Fletcher I think), the pain get's a little bit deeper every day.  And it will.  But I cherish the moments I have left with her and value my friends who are there to lend an ear (some of them are on here - you know who you are and I love you for that).

Heartbreaking for you.  You'll probably be surprised at the strength you wife finds to cope with the situation,  it's really good to hear that you're having memorable conversations, as you say, cherish every moment.  Thoughts are with you and your family. x

  9. I'm not responsible for, or necessarily in agreement with, everything which is said or done by my fellow supporters.  I've always tried to be honest when commenting on things which have happened at the club, be they good or bad.  @Bar BS3seems to have a bit of personal vendetta, unfortunately without any wit to make it entertaining.

I totally get that it seems a bit odd that I post on here, although, for me, it's largely been a positive experience.

No we weren’t...but as has been explained about 500 times, not many clubs WERE getting 20k+ in the early 80s.

4-5k gates were common place in the bottom 2 divisions and Ashton Gate and Eastville were no exception for various reasons.

Comparing today’s crowds with those in that time period is pointless as no one comes out of it looking good.

I quite agree.  It was just an off the cuff comment in response to the original poster, as he was talking out of his arse by suggesting that £6k home fans was a ridiculous figure for a league two game.

  11. 4 minutes ago, BS2 Red said:

The last time you averaged 20k was 1958.

I bow to your superior knowledge on this, I don't have in depth knowledge about our historic attendance figures.  For as long as I've been interested in football, I think you've usually had larger crowds, so it's not something I particularly focus on.

  12. 13 hours ago, Bar BS3 said:

Yes, fans are now allowed back in the ground.

Your lot seem to have missed that memo though.

6,005 attendance, with nearly 300 from Oldham.

That is woefully pitiful after 18 months without being able to attend.

If I'm correct, you barely scrapped 7,500 for the very first game back..

Embarrassing really... Yet we continue to get told what a big club & support you have..!

I know that's not your fault, but seriously - do you not cringe with embarrassment at what a tinpot shitpit of a club you are..? And I mean the factual reality, not the self invented myths that many of your lot love to spew out at every given opportunity.

No, I don't cringe with embarrassment, yes, it may be tinpot, or whatever other insult you wish to use, but it's my tinpot club.

Did you go to the Mem last night itn? Was it as crap as we hope?

First half was the best we've seen for a long time - not that the bar is set very high in that respect.  Oldham made some changes for 2nd half, and came into the game more, but overall a promising performance.  It's good to have fans back in the grounds, maybe normality is gradually returning.

Come on Netty, how about Tomas Kalas and Adam Nagy who played in the Euros? Then there are King, James and Simpson who have played in the Premier League. Even fringe players such as Massengo and Moore are international youth players. The only Rovers player I’d recognise is Brett Pitman due to his spell at City approx 10 years ago. He’s been on the pies since he left City so way past his best. Of course, in Joey Barton, Rovers has someone of has international fame but unfortunately for all the wrong reasons

Apologies, I do know of Massengo, he came from Monaco (I think) and made a generous donation to one of the fundraising efforts.  Rumour was that you were "babysitting" him for Chelsea, until their transfer ban ended - but obviously not!

You spend a hell of a lot of time on here as a Gashead, have been a member of this forum for 14 years and yet you can’t name any of our players past or present apart from Scottie Murray?  Hmmmm ok then!

My original post was in response to somebody who didn't know who Chris Lines was, and I said it's pretty much the same for me with current City players, because the two clubs have not played each other for a long time, so I have no reason to be up to date with who is in your squad.  I could probably name your complete team which got promoted to the old Division One, along with a lot of players from the 1980's, 1990's, and maybe a bit later.  These days there is nothing in common, unless we get drawn together in a cup again.

I do spend quite a lot of time on here, I've said before that there are some interesting debates, and the humour is generally good.  I'm mainly in this thread or the mental health one, along with any more general football related threads which may catch my interest.

Sorry if I have offended you with my lack of knowledge - I'm just being honest.  I wouldn't expect many people on here to know our current (or recent) players.

Yep, that bloke who has just played in the quarter final of the Euros & against England no one has ever heard of him. Or the one who faced Germany, France & Portugal..

Or Andi Weimann, Chris Martin, Andy King, players with loads of Prem games behind them..

Gas always come out with this shit, let’s face it most of their team arrived this summer, in the latest 10 in, 13 out shitshow that happens in BS7 most seasons.

Most people don’t know who fourth division footballers are but I do know their goalie (genuinely don’t know his name) was in the Finland squad, though.

I did hear it mentioned in commentary that there was a Bristol City player in one of the teams, but can't remember which country, never mind the player's name.  The same with a lot of players who played for other countries, watching a match for 90 minutes doesn't ingrain the names in the brain forever.

Sorry but this is complete rubbish unless you never watch , listen or read any other football content at all , on any platform.
you’ve never heard of any of our players ?
you’ve never heard of Andi Wiemann or Nahki Wells . You didn’t watch the Czech Republic in the euros & see Tomas Kalas. I think you’re bending the truth ITN

To be honest I don't take a great interest in international football these days, certainly not enough to remember the names of players, unless it's somebody like Messi or Ronaldo.  I do remember Tammy Abram from when he was on loan with you.  I didn't say I'd never hear of any of your players, just that I wouldn't be able to name or recognise them, I'm sure I will have read some of their names somewhere at some point, but not enough to memorise them.

This bloke is clearly deluded. I’ve heard the name but couldn’t pick him out in a line up.  Everything about this interview is Micky mouse.

Apart from your manager, the only person at BCFC that I could name or recognise is Scott Murray.  When we haven't played each other for a fair number of years, there's no reason for either set of fans to be aware of who plays for the other team.  Whereas going back to the days of regular derby matches, I could still probably name around 75% of your players.

In what respect did they not think Wally was a fit and proper person?

We take the piss (as is our purpose), but from the outside he appears to be someone who cleared a debt of immediate concern, restructured the financing of the club through the offshore Duane Sport (franchise!) and has continued to capitalise debt and back a huge succession of managers.

Dare say that like most owners, he'll reflect on millions wasted, but on the face of it, he seems to be attempting revolution whilst being forced to spend evolution money.

From memory, I think that a parent complained because a coach swore at their child during a training session for one of the younger teams.  The complaint was dealt with by the club, however, the SC turned it into a Child Protection matter and based their report to the EFL on this.

The SC have some great volunteers, however, the hierarchy are stuck in 1975, when they got special treatment for doing the bidding of the Board.  They are not open to new ideas, and it's literally a case of "repel all boarders" if somebody with fresh ideas expresses an interest in joining the Committee.  They've never been a mouthpiece for the fans in the past, not wanting to upset the apple cart in case their noses were removed from the trough.  They got in a huff when Wael arrived, because the Chairman of the SC was not one of the first people he arranged to meet, and they've reinforced their dislike whenever possible.

I know it's not perfect, but looking in from the outside, yours Fans Trust seems much more focused on representing the views of the fanbase, and liaising with the club in a civil manner.

That's horrendous.  Take away their ability to run the shop, forcing them to sale the shop, then they want the takings from the sale . That bit where the club are trying to have a meeting with the volunteers sounds really suspect too. Really sounds like Wael 7 the club are desperate for any money they can get. If that was us , the fans would be going mad. Be interesting to see where this goes.

They forgot to mention that the SC previously reported Wael to the EFL as not being a fit and proper owner, that the Fan's Director on the Board had to be asked to stand down as he didn't respect confidentiality, that, although they had the chance to elect another fan to the position, they haven't bothered.  They've never liked Wael, and now they are reaping what they have sown.
