  1. If we went into the final game level on points with Poland does it just come down to goal difference or some other method to decide placings? Anyone know?
  2. Get well soon Nige. Come back when you're ready and make us great again.
  3. That was well written and I enjoyed reading it. The thing that struck me is that as well as missing matches, it's stated that he hasn't been able to give it everything while he's been around. If that's not true then maybe it wasn't such a good article. If it is true, then I'm not sure what the next few weeks up to Christmas is going to tell us that we don't already know. He mentions that at some point things will come to a head. From a horribly practical point of view, I think we may have already reached that point. We cannot continue as we are and we must keep an eye on the league table. Would it be better to say take the rest of the season off and bring someone else in with a clear understanding that it will be reviewed then? People would know where they stand and it would be taking action to try and arrest the teams decline. Continuing exactly as we are isn't helping anyone. As I say, this is all from a horrible practical point of view. I really wanted Nige when we appointed Johnson and I was more than happy when we finally appointed him. Most of all I want him well and succeeding with us.
  4. If we were looking for some hope, it didn't come from that interview.
  5. Absolutely, but we have to be ready to draw a line in this particular business.
  6. As you asked, they treated me like shit. There was no "hope you want to come back".
  7. We really cannot piss around like this. He's either coming back or we look elsewhere. His answer on Pearson coming back was clearly uncertain.
  8. Are we getting Richard Gould or Jonathan Dimbleby?
  9. Go on Richard, go and get him while Steve's looking the other way.
  10. I too am middle aged and I'm a season ticket holder. I've only been to one home game this season, Bournemouth. That was my first game since Fulham in 2020. As I hadn't been to a game for so long, I was excited and had a feeling of anticipation. My excitement lasted 10 minutes. Then I started to sink down into my seat as I realised absolutely nothing had changed. It was as if the previous 19 months just hadn't happened. I was so disappointed with what I saw, so, so familiar and utterly depressing. I don't know when I'll be back and a season ticket renewal looks about as likely as a lottery win. I started watching city with my dad as they started tumble down the divisions in the early 80s. The 4th division days were an experience. Togetherness. Happy away trips to Brentford, Reading (!), Eastville to name but a few. Togetherness. We weren't always successful at the end of the season, but the home games were entertaining and mostly good. We tried to win, it was worth watching. Into the 90s and moving up the league a bit meant the results weren't so good but it felt like we didn't have to wait long for a bit of excitement, a derby match or a good cup match against a top side. We had a few cult figures then as well, The Chief, Goater, Shaun Taylor etc. Into the 2000s and it's just felt like every few seasons there's a transition, never an evolution. In 2008 I thought we'd stepped up a level. I really thought we were going to start doing things that as a kid I just thought happened to other teams (Watford, Southampton, Luton, Milwall, Norwich etc. etc.), but no. We have one good season in about 7 and can never build on it with the next crisis just around the corner. It's since 2008 that I've really started to lose interest. My feeling is that we just haven't gone for it enough. This has got worse since Lansdown moved to Guernsey and the Bristol Sport concept has come about. I look at the Leicester owner and look at us and think, where is the togetherness? We laughed at Delia Smith when she went on to Norwich pitch but at least she was there, she showed she cared. For me the real turn offs of the last 10-15 years have been: Failure to go for it and take advantage when we were on the up. Lack of togetherness from top to bottom. The owner isn't visible enough. My perception is that he just doesn't care enough about the football any more. Show you care or leave it for someone else. We're too afraid to win at home and stick it to teams. No goals, no shots! No real quality or cult figures to get behind. No derby matches that had that real edge to them, terrible to lose, amazing to win.
  11. What a match St Albans v Forest Green. Football can still be worth watching when players show total commitment and get stuck in.
  12. Pleasantly surprised or unpleasantly surprised?
  13. The fans have been pretty patient so far. What was the reaction like from the away support at the end today?
  14. Good plan. I was thinking about becoming an MP and doing a bit of lobbying on the side.
  15. Wouldn't invite Roy to a dinner party if that really is all he can say. Very dull.
  16. Albert and Marvin celebrate in the present while those around catch a glimpse of the future.
  17. I agree with most of what the OP said, but I'm a bit more than disappointed. We are simply not worth watching and haven't been for 3 / 4 years now. It's a monotonous chore. Drive to match, sit down, watch terrible performance, lose match, drive home thinking what on earth was that/why did I bother. Week in week out the same. If you haven't been watching afar, it really is that bad Steve.
  18. A local celebrity historian once asked my mum if she wanted to be a White Witch. I don't know whether she said yes or no, but she was at the match.
  19. Looks more like a 14 wins, 12 draws and 20 defeats season, and the wins/draws to defeats ratio is deteriorating all the time. For the last few seasons any form this team had is usually behind us by now. Couple this with abject performances and I can see why people are concerned. A mid table finish looks like the things that dreams are made of.
  20. It may come down to what magic the medical team can weave. I don't think we have mid table strength in depth, and we're too close to that dashed line, too early. Yes some players will come back from injury, but then we'll lose some to injury over the winter. If this form carries on, the pressure will become so great I can see something breaking around February time. Maybe a fresh face will get us a few wins to stay above the line. It's not like we haven't seen that pattern before. I would much rather have seen a top manager and money to spend at the same time. Maybe one day we'll get it right.
  21. It's come to something when we're relying on other teams to get point deductions to keep us safe.
  22. At the moment you could flip a coin as to whether we stay up or not. I think we're going to be right down there with the worst of them.
