  1. I’ve had some info about “Sand-Gate”.

Remember when they said they’d used the wrong kind of sand on their pitch, hence it being so shit.

Remember when they sacked their Stadium Manager earlier in the season?

Well. Allegedly, said Stadium Manager was responsible for ordering the required sand (suitable for their fibre pitch).

Said Stadium Manager then decided to purchase a much cheaper sand product and pocket the difference himself.

Full of wrong ‘uns over there, they really are.

Duh, duh, duh, duh,  BUT UNFORTUNATELY, ......... the shaker lid didn't fly off!

(I was watching with baited breath and fingers crossed waiting for that to happen)

One day he's gonna have such a great wedding reception when his Best Man (unfortunately won't be Bodin :) ) unearths this little blast from the past and plays it to the room!  ..... (surefire wedding night passion killer, that is if the bride hasn't already buggered off back to her parents by then.. cringe!! )

Wedding!! You are assuming this gimp will one day meet a woman? Not happening.

Heard they weren't so chopsy a couple of years back in Molloys

Ha ha yeah. Marvellous day. Soon scarpered when informed that the City is Red and politely asked to leave.

Edit - oh and then one of them got chopsy once they were 25 yards down the road. Brave chap.

  4. I hear the 15ers players have been given the day off because they won a game and are currently lording it up in a Gloucester Road establishment. One of them apparently wearing a WBA shirt!!

As witnessed by a prolific contributor to this thread. When asked why they were there, and responded with “we’ve got the day off cuz we won”, they weren’t too enamoured with the retort “that’ll be why I’ve never seen you in here before then.”

Supposedly this is a reason to be called a “c***” by the slags.

Keep up the good work fella.

  5. The gifting goes on tonight.

I’m hearing there’s been a spot of bother down there in “Sag Heartland” at the King Billy, Warmley.

Large scale disorder so say. Some City chaps there laughing their behinds off who are describing it as “ha ha, it’s Rovers onto Rovers. And they’re arguing about City”.

    Oh my days.

    Mind the Gap

I think Skusey is over-egging it a bit there. If he went to watch as a kid, let’s say from the age of 10, we played Rovers 5 out of 6 years when Skuse would’ve been aged 10-16.

If anything, the late 80’s and through the 90’s (ie through Skuse’s childhood) was when the rivalry was at its closest.

So, whisper it quietly, do we think they might sneak play-off place? I think the top 5 is out of reach but that last play off place is very much up for grabs.

Plymouth could be the heroes who stop them, they've come from about 10pts down and bottom place and still have the Gas at home to come I think.

Whatever you think about them, it would be some achievement by Clarke given the background he's working against and he's had F all support from the rest of the clowns in charge.

No chance. They are 5 points behind the last spot, which is the only one that’ll be available. Bradford hold that spot now and have lost 6 out of 7. They’ll turn that around.

Even if they don’t turn that around, they’ll have to make up points on Charlton, Portsmouth & Plymouth - 3 decent sides who’ll take a lot of catching.

Rovers have 7 games left vs teams above them, including 5 against the top 7.

Tough run-in and points gap to close. If they do it then they’ll have to pull out all the stops, and their season so far doesn’t suggest they can do that consistently enough.

    **** ‘em!

To be honest I think we are spoilt by the quality of our pitch these days. I watched some bits of a couple of Belgian games on Freesports yesterday, which were both of a good level Genk V Anderlecht and Antwerp V Brugge and both of those pitches were very poor quality too.

But wasn’t that Antwerp pyro summat else!

  9. I’ve got to come back to this “We’d get 50,000 if we’re top 4 prem year on year”.

Just checked some stats. Only Man U and Arsenal have averaged over 50,000 in each of the last 4 years.

So the deluded blue few believe that, should they ever reach the premier league, they would become the 3rd best supported club in the country.

When they’ve not actually sold out the barely 10k swamp in 15 years!

It shows up the difference in perspective of the two sets of fans.

From the quote above - Potentially if Rovers were top four prem year on year they would get 50,000 crowds

Meanwhile there is a thread on here questioning if AG is big enough for the prem at 27000 and the consensus is that it probably is for most games! No one has mentioned top four!

I’m sure that if Chesterfield, Walsall, Southend and everyone else they’ve compared themselves with would also average 50,000 if they were “top four prem year on year”.

I mean seriously! Top 4 year on year. What the hell is this bloke on about. He’s basically saying that if the Gappers were up there with Man U, Man C, Arsenal & Chelsea for a sustained period, then their crowds would increase. Duh!

What a truly baffling bunch they are.

At this time of the year, I think it's imperative we remember those less fortunate than ourselves.

Those who through entirely their own fault find themselves friendless, often win less, and living rough in a decrepit rugby stadium with an old tart called Irene.

Dig deep to help those who will always be less fortunate than us - and in our shadow.

Just £5 buys a visit to Santa's Grotty Grotto at the Mem.

Just £25 buys a new plastic chair for those occasions where visitors might swell the attendance.

Just £40 can buy a fake Omega timepiece for an impoverished Arab

Just £55 buys a trolley full of groceries for an enraged Gashead to leave in Sainsbury's. "In protest".

And for just £1,500 you can buy some desperately needed fencing so the Gas can train in privacy, without people laughing.

Unfortunately, no amount of cash can buy them a home win it seems. Get me Geldof and Ure on the phone.....

Just £5.50 an hour can pay for a member of staff to sell the pies. Oops, no it can’t.

£200 can pay the centre half’s wages for the week.

  12. Wow. Just watched that Wally interview posted a few days ago. Ha ha ha. Jeepers. Seriously, what the F. Have you ever seen so much squirming nonsensical crump. I get the impression he has absolutely zero idea of how to run a football club. He really hasn’t got a scooby, has he.

Would OTIB members and City fans generally support Stephen Lansdown if he could be persuaded to fund a trust to be set up to purchase The Memorial Stadium under the assets of community value scheme ?  The trust would lease the stadium to Rovers which would become a fan owned club on the Bundesliga model and, as part of the process, Dwane Sports would relinquish their entire share holding in return for having their loan repaid through the sale of the ground.

I know there are extreme views on here and many would like to see Rovers disappear altogether but sporting competition is healthy and surely City fans can see the benefits of continuing the rivalry which has given all of us so much enjoyment over the years.

Why would we want that. Rivalry is one thing (and yes, a good thing), but surely Mr Lansdown would be better off witnessing the demise of the other team, which over the course of a few years / generation would mean that there are many more potential supporters of City.

If there is no Rovers, then all football fans in Bristol would only have one choice, meaning Mr Lansdown's pockets are lined more handsomely.

Well I have just gone back over the posts and I cannot see anything other than mainly constructive criticism, about areas that might need improvement.

Yes it was a great win but part of the love of football is the discussions that occur after a game, like @Harry stoic defence of Pack, for me today it was a typical Pack performance some very good, some good and some very poor, what was evident to me was how Pack improved dramatically with the introduction of Smith, Pack looks a far better player when Smith is playing, bottom line for me is Smith is a far more important player than Pack, but @Harry probably wouldn't agree and that is football, but I think my view is constructive because as poor as Pack was against Leeds after the first 20 minutes of the Palarse game Pack he was terrific.

Partnerships are hugely important in football Es. Pack & Smith work very well together and have brought each other's games on very well in the last 3 years of their regular pairing.

Pack has been poorer alongside Brownhill, agreed.

My aim though is not to stoically defend him. It's more to repel unnecessary criticism - i.e. People saying he's awful and not worthy of a place in this squad, saying he can't pass etc etc. He's proven his worth over his time at our club and is rarely someone who deserves such a pounding as he's been consistently good over his time here.
