No, he wasn’t (imho).  He did several decent things on the ball / in challenges.

Yes, he lost his man for the goal, and got done by a great run from Afobe….after Kalas got caught forward following a poor pass.

But he wasn’t poor throughout (imho).

You think not. Probably at fault got the 5’9” ish bloke scoring the header and dreadful challenge for the pen. He might make it but miles off at the present.

    Save me typing it again!

I’m sure you all know my views on Nige and that I see him as the man to rebuild us (even if he isn’t the man to take us to the next step as the “manager” itself).

I think he shows a huge responsibility and accountability for the role he has.

Bollox to his 40 game record, yes, I’m being selective, but the record that is important to me is the one this season.  8-6-11 (30/25) isn’t earth shattering, but it’s the base for improvement.  Future success won’t come by Willy-nilly manager changes because we lose a couple / few on the trot.

He gambled a bit on Towler and Benarous today, but he reacted.  We are not a great squad, and to make it harder, we are inconsistent too.  I think the 11 players that started the second half were better than the first half 11, but a couple of mistakes made them look a lot worse if you look at score line.

    I just feel massively patient.

Towler and Benarous were dreadful selections In the context of the starting 11. Many fans looking at that selection would have thought what the fxxx is going on, I certainly did. My instincts were correct as Nigel changed it to something much more sensible at ht. How could have experienced football manager have got it so dreadfully and obviously (without hindsight) wrong? TBH I’ve  got zero confidence in the bloke.

  3. Watford change their manager at the drop of a hat. It doesn’t seem to do them much harm. Conceding 3 goals in 45 minutes against a league 1 team last season, who were down to 10 men is truly laughable and a new low for us. Pearson has had long enough to improve results and has failed to do so. Without a change we’re in league 1 next season.

Absolutely spot-on. It was an opportunist deal in response to an unexpected and financially attractive offer. My impression at the time was that the player did not want to leave the club, nor did LJ particularly want to lose him.

It had Ashton's finger prints all over it. Improved the bank balance, near-fatally weakened the midfield, especially when the other departures mentioned above are taken into consideration.

    Dead right.

Funnily enough, I fancied us today, thought there were match-ups that might suit us and if we played like against Fulham we could get something.  Then you start hearing Massengo and Williams out, then as kickoff approaches you find out Atkinson is out, and you start to re-think.

Then again nothing could’ve prepared me for a performance as inept as that.

In my opinion that was the least effective performance I have seen from a City side when playing a team from the same division. Inept and embarrassing.

If you missed our live podcast last night here's a recording:

Can't believe the love-in from some on here for Weimann!

What did everyone think of COD's substitute appearance? Impact sub my *rse!

    Bakinson - lacked energy

Tanner & Pring - both good

Martin - needs a rest [a long one]

On the pod we talk about this club's obsession over the years with the proverbial big man up front. We fondly recall Robbie Turner, Steve Torpey, John Kerr [RIP], Wayne Allison, Steve Johnson and some other long forgotten names get a mention. Sadly, whilst me, Mark & Ian could be classified as old gits none of us witnessed Big John Atyeo grace the Ashton Gate turf

I’m definitely an old git. I watched big John on many occasions. I was also lucky enough to have briefly been taught maths by him at Henbury school.

They have to be the most deluded, self obsessed bunch of fans I have ever came across in my entire life.

Imagine being so self obsessed, and paranoid, that you honestly think a manager would come to your club as some sort of self depreciationing espionage, burning his own career, just to make Bristol Rovers suffer.

    They're ******* mental.

"Has anyone considered the fact that JB has a hidden plan to finish us off? When he was at Fleetwood and he visited the Mem it was obvious to all that he was hated by us. Maybe he took the job out of a deep seated plan of revenge! First of all get rid of the players who fans haven't been too keen on (looks good for him!) but then underhandedly replace them with worse! Play a system that doesn't work, make us the laughing stock of all leagues with his 'We are definitely going to be promoted' speech and make weird contradictory after match interviews just to give other teams something to laugh about. We have lost ALL our credibility and now have a totally divided fan base. He has added NOTHING to the club and with his upcoming court cases will make us the pariahs of the league. We are slowly becoming the old Millwall of Div 2, everyone will hate us and add more effort to beat us - although as in my first statement - JB would like to get us out of this league............. and into non- league. Then, and only then, will his mission be completed.
The man is an evil  human being and not only should he be sacked by us he should also be banned from ever going to any football ground, even as a spectator. "

Such was the crapness of the players he signed and the way we played at times I thought Tony Pulis was doing his best to finish us off in the dark days when he was our manager. Aided and abetted by the now departed Lindsey Parsons.

Hopefully three worse teams this season, we’re in real trouble. Our ownership have taken their eyes off the ball and this is the outcome

Hope so. If there are 3 poor teams it’s likely at least one of them will get over 40 points. So to finish 4 from the bottom we need more than 40 points ie 10 wins and 10 draws. When it’s put like that it doesn’t sound easy does it especially looking at Pearson’s record with us.

JET the Penalty King, one of the best, 'get you off your seat' players we've had in a decade and scored memorable goals. One of the hardest shots and best assists during the double season. Gills away in JPT when Smith got the lot he was unplayable.

Rather have him come of the bench to take a penalty in a big match than some highly paid players/politicians

Bit different taking a penalty in the 3rd division than a penalty shoot out to win the euro's.

He's never been a manager and therefore totally unproven and a cheap gamble.

It may pay off but more usually career assistants flounder when given the reins as was the case with Brian Kidd and Peter Taylor.

I would be deeply unhappy with a similar appointment here.

Alan Dicks was an assistant manager at Coventry before he became our manager. He didn’t do too bad.

    And we won !

I was at that match. Fa cup replay about 1966 ish. 0-0 draw at Ashton gate. Replay at Easrville the following Tuesday.  40,000 at Ashton, 35000 at Eastville 3 days later. Taylor scored for rovers in the 1st half then Crowe and Macamoyle ( crap spelling) scored for City we won 1-2.  decent player was Stuart Taylor, a proper Rovers player in the days of players staying with a club for many years. Rest easy big man.

There is another group of Gasheads. They are the dustmen, ice cream sellers, warehouse cleaners and labourers, who are thick, gullible, village idiot types, who, are mouthy, up themselves, full of shit, arrogant, verbally violent, smarmy assholes who think they're superior but, are too thick to realise they're inferior.

Taking the piss out of gas fans is one thing but linking it to people in these types of employment as thick, gullible, village idiot types is out of order. No way are people who earn their living in this way inferior.
